Here's a thread for those of you who really want to talk politics. Content courtesy of "Hot Gas:"

Longtime Hot Air readers may recall that the first Â“winnerÂ” we ever had in these surveys was Chris Christie. Four years ago he earned 29% of the vote, but my, how things change. Christie now has 1% of the vote and sits well behind everyone except Mike Huckabee, who he ties, Rick Santorum, and Joe Scarborough, who out of over 3000 votes received a grand total of 6.
Your current leader? Ted Cruz, who earned 29% of the vote. The top five is rounded out by Scott Walker, Rand Paul, Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.

4 Perry is a great ambassador for the State of Texas. However, other States may have a more jaundiced view -- especially those who have lost business to the smarter and freer business climate in Texas. Don't know whether that can translate across the country; he might just have too much envy baggage no matter how right his policies are.

Twice, iirc. If I were a Texan, I'd be unhappy about it. And I'd be screaming at my state legislator. But I don't think that measure alone translates into Perry being an open borders guy. In addition, given the robust funding for Texas universities, and Perry's commitment to making degrees affordable in Texas, my outrage meter is not moving much.

I can see it happening, especially if the Benghazi hearing shakes out to make Romney look like he was right to bring it up at the debate--and wrongly slimed by (Too Much) Candy Crows. Again, he wouldn't be perfect--or ideal...but look what he's up against.

50 I watch a lot of ACC games, often live, so I recognize some of these late-rounders. Campanaro and Whitlock are the Wake guys I'm rooting for. Also a local kid from a D2 school who impressed scouts enough that four teams came to campus for private workouts, two flew him to their facilities. A big honking deal for a small school.

Eli Manning has never had two bad years in a row--and neither has Tom Coughlin, and Giants as a team usually follow up a bad year with a very good one. 61 No doubt, if you are a fan of certain teams or players you are rooting for them, but I'm really not a college football guy. So I get to this point in the draft, and nobody left at this point, other than the quarterbacks are guys I even heard of.

Are there sleepers left? Sure. And the great teams, with great scouts and smart coaches will draft them and have them find a way to help their teams.

Otherwise, the vast majority of players from this point out will not have high impacts on the teams that select them.

76 71, with all due respect, the pashas who pick the Super Bowl winners in May are seldom right. I've followed the Giants, and I like how they--as an organization-- react to a bad season. They will have a winning record at the very least. And their games with the Eagles and Cowboys, are usually intense affairs that go down to the last drive. Eli won't be throwing very many interceptions this year.

78 For whatever reason, I enjoy the draft. I think part of it is that I watch more college ball these days than I once did. Also, I've lived so many places that I have a genuine interest in a lot of the NFL teams. Rich Eisen was still blathering about Michael Sam every few minutes so we switched to ESPN's coverage. I gather Sam did not perform well in the combine. 25" vertical jump, for example.

80 It's a lot of luck in the late rounds, but it's also sometimes economical thinking on the part of the GM. If you're only bringing in seven "applicants" you want to get the best you possibly can, no throwaway picks. Side note: I've heard agents say that players are often better off not being drafted in the seventh round and getting signed as an undrafted free agent instead, more contract flexibility, player's choice to pick a team where they think they have the best shot to make it, maybe where ex-coaches, ex-teammates advise him, as opposed to the arbitrary (from the player's point of view) designation of the draft.

82 Well, just got the mail. Looks like there's some more limp-wristed slapping and hair pulling between Senate candidates down here in Georgia. They're getting exceptionally mean-girl in these last few days heading into the primary, especially Kingston and Perdue, neither of which I particularly like. I get the impression that each of them will just be more of the same RINOism that Chambliss has been.

They are good. BUT, as with all good teams, some of the members are going to start getting greedy. They'll become unaffordable, and will put themselves on the auction block. It's one of the things that I do not like about the NFL. No real team loyalty anymore.

Don't take my guarantee seriously. But I am serious when I say I don't see the Giants improving this year. You have the NFC West this year. Frankly I don't see them winning any of those games.

You also have Houston, Indy, and Atlanta. All three teams that will be tough games. It just looks to me like a brutal schedule, and I have NEVER been sold on the notion that Eli is an elite QB. He's a guy who plays well in Coughlin's system... when they have the receivers.

Good fit it seems, with their first pick, but they pick up a running back who caught 0 balls last year??? How is that even possible?

85 Check out the profile of Nikita Whitlock of Wake Forest. 2-year starting Nose Tackle, only 5-foot-ten, 250 pounds. He doesn't fit the NFL mold, but he's a beast of a football player, some team has gotta find a way for him to contribute. Maybe at fullback.

216 Late to the party. I was at a lunch Thursday with about 20 party activist, among them several city council members and county commissioners. We took a poll on 2016, amazingly, this crowd is VERY conservative, Scott Walker got about half the votes, no one else came close. He's getting traction.
