— Open Blogger Here's a thread for those of you who really want to talk politics. Content courtesy of "Hot Gas:"
Longtime Hot Air readers may recall that the first “winner” we ever had in these surveys was Chris Christie. Four years ago he earned 29% of the vote, but my, how things change. Christie now has 1% of the vote and sits well behind everyone except Mike Huckabee, who he ties, Rick Santorum, and Joe Scarborough, who out of over 3000 votes received a grand total of 6.Your current leader? Ted Cruz, who earned 29% of the vote. The top five is rounded out by Scott Walker, Rand Paul, Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.
Follow the link to see how the issues tested.
You all know I'm a Perry-loving RINO. I denounce myself.

Actually, it was the opposite. They were stacked with extra picks this year. Unfortunately, they squandered those trading up for players nobody has ever heard of. Only in Cleveland.

Too early to tell, but my guess is the Niners just made themselves the favorite to win it all this year.
Well, if their Harbaugh gets hit in a terrible meteor accident or something, they might be. Otherwise, they'll be the best team not to win it all, as they have for at least the last two.
Great draft though. Painful as it is for me to admit.

At this point, I no nothing about most of the players left, so it's all about either 1. seeing which teams take the "name" QBs who are still left, or 2. seeing all the weird names that pop up.
Essentially all the team-changing prospects are long gone.

Are there sleepers left? Sure. And the great teams, with great scouts and smart coaches will draft them and have them find a way to help their teams.
Otherwise, the vast majority of players from this point out will not have high impacts on the teams that select them.

Have you seen the schedule? Giants will have a losing record this year.
I guarantee it.
Eagles have improved their team to the point where you'd have to be a diehard fan to not realize there is no way the Giants compete with them.

I am just having a little fun BurtTC. The Seahawks are the power in the NFL now going forward. They should dominate for at least a decade if they can keep their core happy.

They are good. BUT, as with all good teams, some of the members are going to start getting greedy. They'll become unaffordable, and will put themselves on the auction block. It's one of the things that I do not like about the NFL. No real team loyalty anymore.
Posted by: Soona at May 10, 2014 10:37 AM (dm5xt)
Don't take my guarantee seriously. But I am serious when I say I don't see the Giants improving this year. You have the NFC West this year. Frankly I don't see them winning any of those games.
You also have Houston, Indy, and Atlanta. All three teams that will be tough games. It just looks to me like a brutal schedule, and I have NEVER been sold on the notion that Eli is an elite QB. He's a guy who plays well in Coughlin's system... when they have the receivers.
Good fit it seems, with their first pick, but they pick up a running back who caught 0 balls last year??? How is that even possible?

Really, the second best thing about the draft, after trying to figure out who bettered themselves and who didn't (hint: it's usually the same good teams who improve themselves, and the same crappy teams who don't), is watching how kids respond to hearing their name called.
Another reason to dislike Manziel, IMO. You could tell he didn't want Cleveland, but then started schmoozing for the cameras.

Funny thing about centers, like punters/kickers, they can be a big deal for a team, but you don't really need to draft one.
I don't understand drafting an undersized center. That's like drafting a kicker with a weak leg.
Packers usually know what they are doing though, most likely they see him filling a role. Maybe long snapper.

McCarron's not really starter material. Maybe a good backup, maybe not, given his ego.
I'm hoping the Rams pick up a decent QB. Somebody with long term potential they could maybe groom for a while. I have my preference, but... we'll see. Long way to go before they pick again.
