Least Effective Member of Congress Ever?

Quite possibly. New Jersey could have picked a random person out of the phone book and probably done better than Rep. Robert E. Andrews (D., N.J.). Over his twenty year career in Congress he has proposed 646 bills and gotten exactly 0 passed.

In his 23 years in Congress, Rep. Robert E. Andrews (D., N.J.) has written 646 different pieces of legislation. That is a vast array of bills, covering a vast number of subjects: children's pajamas, relations with Taiwan, commemorative coins and trade duties on licorice.
But all of Andrews's bills had one thing in common. They didn't become law. [.]

Andrews, 56, said Tuesday he would resign in two weeks, taking a position at the law firm Dilworth Paxson. In an interview Tuesday, he insisted that these statistics don't capture his true record in Congress.

Now I'd be happy if each member of Congress swore to propose no more than five bills a year but if over two decades in office you couldn't even get a single local federal courthouse named or one limited edition commemorative coin issued, you just might be a complete failure at your job.

The EU is NOT to Be Trifled With

From a secretly recorded conversation between Helga Schmid, a representative of EU High Commissioner Catherine Ashton, and the EU Ambassador in Ukraine:

Vanity Fair: 10 Undeniable Facts About the Woody Allen Sexual-Abuse Allegation

Which should have been titled 10 Undeniable Damning Facts.

2.   Allen had been in therapy for alleged inappropriate behavior toward Dylan with a child psychologist before the abuse allegation was presented to the authorities or made public.

Mia Farrow had instructed her babysitters that Allen was never to be left alone with Dylan.
6.   Dylan's claim of abuse was consistent with the testimony of three adults who were present that day.

On the day of the alleged assault, a babysitter of a friend told police and gave sworn testimony that Allen and Dylan went missing for 15 or 20 minutes, while she was at the house. Another babysitter told police and also swore in court that on that same day, she saw Allen with his head on Dylan's lap facing her body, while Dylan sat on a couch "staring vacantly in the direction of a television set." A French tutor for the family told police and testified that that day she found Dylan was not wearing underpants under her sundress. The first babysitter also testified she did not tell Farrow that Allen and Dylan had gone missing until after Dylan made her statements. These sworn accounts contradict Moses Farrow's recollection of that day in People magazine.
9.   The state attorney, Maco, said publicly he did have probable cause to press charges against Allen but declined, due to the fragility of the "child victim."

Maco told me that he refused to put Dylan through an exhausting trial, and without her on the stand, he could not prosecute Allen.

Neo-Neocon has some more details on the sexual abuse allegations. And if Allen is innocent of the charges about the most positive assessment you could possibly make of him is that he has severe boundary issues with children.

(3) Even prior to the abuse allegations, Farrow had noticed Allen behaving inappropriately with their (Mia and Woody's) adopted daughter Dylan. This behavior had been going on for years and had been reported years earlier, beginning when Dylan was two or three, and had been witnessed by other people, some of whom testified during the trial. Farrow and Allen had been in couple's therapy for years in order to deal with the problem of his inappropriate behavior with Dylan. These allegations of inappropriate touching occurred years before the Soon Yi affair was exposed, and the work of the couples therapy was to set limits on what was even then seen as an excess of physical affection of an inappropriate type (although not frank abuse such as was alleged to have later occurred).

(4) Farrow discovered Allen had been having an affair with her adopted daughter Soon-Yi because she discovered photos of Soon Yi in Allen's apartment. The photos are usually described as "nude," but they were actually Hustler-type (spread-eagled) nude photos, and Allen had left them where he should have known Farrow would have a very good chance of noticing them in his otherwise spare and completely neat apartment.

Norwegian Military, Experts Called in to 'Disarm' 25 Year Old Can of Herring

Madsen is set to travel to a cabin in the Norwegian mountains next week to help "disarm" a recently discovered can of fermented herring dating from 1990.

Cabin owner Inge Haugen found the forgotten can after peeking under the eaves to find a swelling can of Surströmming that had been expanding over the past two and half decades. He reckoned the bulging tin had raised the cabin's roof by about two centimetres.

The find left him concerned that the can might explode at any moment, prompting him to warn his neighbours. Norway's Armed Forces were also notified about the impending "stink bomb".

And what will they do with the disarmed can of 25 year old rotten herring? Well eat it of course.

However, the discovery of the can in Norway has the fermented herring aficionado's mouth watering at the prospect of tasting Surströmming that's been aged to perfection over the past 25 years.

"I have my own collection of vintage Surströmming with several cans that are more than 15 years old," he said.

"The taste certainly gets richer with age. The longer you wait to open a can, the more complex the flora of tastes you get."

Madsen invoked a musical analogy to compare the richness of aged Surströmming to that eaten right off the shelf.

"Think of the difference between Wagner and Chopin," he explained.

Those scandis - what the fuck are they thinking?

27 I'm not defending Allen, but...

You have a relationship where the couple is...
A) Unmarried.
B) Maintaining separate residences; but...
C) ...Raising children together: children from Farrow's prior marriage to Previn, children Allen and Farrow adopted together (Dylan)...
D) ...and one cuckoo's egg (Ronan) who, apparently, Farrow passed off as Allen's but who is probably Frank Sinatra's kid (he certainly looks more like Sinatra than like Allen).

Does anyone else think this relationship was pretty jacked up, and that what Farrow did was the equivalent of letting her 7-year-old daughter walk home alone at 1am through the "vibrant" part of town?

34 I have a vague recollection of remembering something once read a long time ago about something some guy did, or research team, did when they first discovered aluminum.

The team, or the guy, or she took the nodules of pure aluminum, which were beyond price, since it was a new scientific discovery, and gave them to the British Monarch, as 'crown jewels'.

I wonder if they still have them? The British, being preservers of history, I'll bet they still have them somewhere.

Or, maybe I just imagined I remembered it.

File a police report in your hometown regarding the call. It's harassment. The police will unlikely do anything about the first call but if he calls again they may take action. Police have the ability to request phone records from your provider and trace the call to catch the guy. Plus, God forbid anything else happens, you have a record with the police.

That's some creepy stuff, I hope it works out.

Got it. Posted by: Y-not #TeamCollie at February 10, 2014 11:06 PM (zDsvJ) --Sorry, but you stood out because you're a chick I respect and a cob. And you don't got it: It was not about you just being bothered (hey, if I had to shower with the dude, I'd be a little unsettled as well), you just assumed he was seeking cheap pub, which I doubt. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown, and all that.

86 File a police report in your hometown regarding the call. It's harassment. The police will unlikely do anything about the first call but if he calls again they may take action. Police have the ability to request phone records from your provider and trace the call to catch the guy. Plus, God forbid anything else happens, you have a record with the police. I updated the report to include this detail and asked them to follow up with the phone company about the caller. Wh knows if they even work this lead. Also, the manager of the rink gave his security cam footage to the police that shows the thief making his move and leaving. He says he recognizes the thief, he's been there before and knows him but not his identity. Maybe someone else may recognize him too.

EC, don't do anything stupid if you come across the guy somehow or he calls again. Potentially you and your wife are witnesses for the prosecution, so you want to do everything on the up and up to remain credible. One thing you can do is he gets caught and you find out, if he isn't already charged with your wife's theft and harassment, make sure the police follow up with the charges or your wife might be able to file a citizen complaint so that they guy has to really face the music.

You said you two cancelled everything, but you can probably also request your banks/credit card companies to put a fraud flag on your accounts for a period of time. That way if something got through, you would be notified and could try to trace it and catch the ID thief.

I investigated a client's ID theft and it was surprisingly easy to track down info. I even got a name and an address but the local cops there didn't want to do anything. Oh well.

In any event, like I said, try to stay calm and approach the situation as if you were the detective and any evidence you might find might be useful to the police. Maybe even leave a voice recorder near the phone in case he calls again.

207 Let me weigh in as a local and note certain deficiencies of the Why San Francisco Sucks piece. Not least because it contains no mention of the word "parking" anywhere in the article. Since it was written by a fucking New York type, the reasons for the omission are obvious.

For those who come from places where ordinary people actually do own and drive cars, unlike New York, let me note that SF parking is an utter nightmare that would make Kafka retire early.

First, you have to drive to whereever it is that you're going, sharing the roads with a bunch of people who viscerally hate the idea of the automobile.

Some of them are walking (slowly, or quickly out in front of you with no warning, some hoping to be hit to sue you). Some are riding bicycles (spitting on your windows if closed, throwing trash in them if open). Some are on motorcycles (high speed lane splitting where they ought not, but heaven help you legally if one goes down anywhere near your vehicle).

And some are driving the automobiles they profess to hate. Usually Piouses and Volvos. With an absolute lack of skill and attention. No wonder they hate cars. They're bad at cars. Bad as in oh-my-god-can-you-believe-this-shit bad.

Once you get to where you are going, you have to find a parking space. These are vanishingly rare in SF. Expect to have to walk a longer distance to your destination than in almost any other city. They become more scarce with each passing year as insane insertions such as "parklets", miniature sidewalk parks, are installed.

Certain locals will vandalize your car if you park in "their" space. Where "their" has no legal foundation at all, and where there is no notification to you that you are pulling in to what someone considers "their" space, but it won't stop them keying your car after you leave.

Parking tickets in SF are handed out like candy on Halloween. And you don't have to have a good costume to qualify. You may not even realize you are at risk.

The SF authorities will ticket you for parking in a place where the NO PARKING signs have been rendered demonstrably completely unreadable by stickers and graffiti. This will not get you off the hook in court.

The SF authorities will ticket you for failure to curb your wheels on a totally imperceptible 2% grade. AND will ticket you for curbing your wheels, but in the "wrong direction", a pettifogging rule I have never seen enforced anywhere but in SF.

The SF authorities will ticket you for failing to heed an incredibly Byzantine array of street cleaning rules (alternate Thursdays during full moons but low tides, except in January and August).

Not only are these tickets enormously expensive on their own, they will frequently result in your car being towed. You can expect a giant fee to get your car out of the impound lot. While there, you can expect it to be rifled through. It's less safe in the police lot than on the street. You have no recourse on items lost while in police custody. Nor do you have any recourse if the tow truck driver damages your car.

It's just a bundle of fun.

243 In NJ we had a baby sitter steal hubby's identity and apply for credit cards. Ran up 10k at a gas station in NYC in 2 weeks, amoung other things. Total of about 20 k in those two weeks. We found out when Chase called and asked if hubby had applied for another card and changed his profession. Went to the police. They got the ATM photo of her using the bogus cards. I contacted all three credit agencies. Fraud hold on everything. They told me not to say anything to her until they could interview her. Sept 11th was the next morning. All the local cops were pulled to help out and couldn't interview her for another week She got probation. We never had to pay anything and it didn't hurt our credit rating. We have not had a problem with her since

269 "SF sounds like a rental car only kind of place."

As long as you remember that you, not the rental agency, are on the hook when tickets are written.

And as long as you have insurance, either your own or the agency's, that will cover all damage to that rental vehicle on a zero or trifling deductible.

Otherwise, if you're in from out of town, take a cab.

They're a ripoff racket too, and dangerous, but can be a bargain compared to the price of trying to drive here.

Seriously, you can expect that you can come back to your parked rental car to find the bumper half ripped off by the vehicle of someone who can't parallel park competently or even judge the space available to be too small, but who gave it the old college try anyway.

You also have great odds of having one of the local wino/junkie/schizo types pop the glass in the side window to have a quick rummage through whatever is inside. Even the smallest item left visible inside a car in San Francisco is absolutely irresistable thief bait.

What happens in the lockerroom does NOT get out to the public since it is the players refuge. If a teammate were to leak it to the press, everyone of Sams' teammates would stand behind him (Sams) and disassociate themselves from the leaker. Pro athletes are always answering questions about teammates or coaches that are uncomfortable, but they would rather know about stuff before getting hit with questions about it. He only came out to the media because of a media member that was going to out him. Better to do it yourself and control the narrative than let others set the narrative.

I recommend shopping air fares from point of origination to various locations and pick the best fare?  Most destinations will be approximately the same under your criteria, so my suggestion is give West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, etc., but suggest you avoid Miami.

Also, lesser known destinations such as Naples, Ft. Meyers, Melbourne or even Apalachicola may be in your pricing model.  It's easy to travel on the cheap, eat well, by avoiding pricy booze, hotels, etc.  A second or third honeymoon can be delightful, and maybe this is your opportunity for a rebirth for days past?

317 305 And that is the way it should be. Who cares that the guy is gay? The sad thing is, with the way things are, now the poor bastard is going to be the subject of draft day "introspectives" and "profiles". The sheer urge to show that they will not stigmatize the guy, will essentially stigmatize him. They will define him for his teammates before they even meet the man. I imagine it will be even worse for him if he IS talented, because now his teammates will be not be saying "We are getting an awesome new rookie RB" or whatever, but will be saying "Yay, we got the gay dude." The great thing about the NFL has always been that it has been a pure meritocracy. You can be hyped mercilessly, but when you hit the field, you either play well or you do not. He will fit into a 3-4, but he will be a project, not a day one starter. At this point, 1/2 the teams in the NFL won't take him because they run 4-3. Now the 1/2 that run the 3-4, some that have new coaches won't take him because of the media circus that will cause distractions from trying to implement new schemes. He has about 6-8 teams that will take a look at him. Knowing this, he will probably drop from the 3-4th round to 5th-7th rounds.

Looks like a run of the mill SHTF story but towards the end the cast makes a remarkable discovery about something they all have in common, and then run into something suggesting a supernatural basis for the strange turn the world has taken. By Chris Carter of X-Files fame.

Sharon Lawrence is playing a character at least twenty years older than her actual 52, perhaps to allow for a lot of rough and tumble. It's unusual to see someone playing much older than they rather than somebody pushing 30 playing a high school student.

Keep used shrimp oil separate. And be really careful if the fries have ice on 'em. Back when I was in Junior High, the teacher had a demonstration with a crucible of about 2T of vegetable oil that he heated until it caught fire.....he then shot water at it with an eyedropper until he hit it. 2T oil + 2 drops water + flame = 3 foot fireball.

Under The Dome ran on broadcast TV. I wasn't aware Amazon was involved. I listened to it as an audio book. It was the book that made me give up on Stephen King.

It was alright. Well done production wise. Not for kids as the language is pretty raw and there is some nice nudity, which also serves to hint at a running plot device. It seems inevitable in such stories but it always annoys me when characters fail to see an obvious solution to a problem.

It's an extremely effective demonstration. Water is heavier than oil, so is sinking while flashing into steam. The steam will then blow the hot oil to a fine mist....like, say, a carburetor. With a flame source, you get an amazingly large flash.....without one, you're merely covered in a 350 degree oily mist.

378 Haven't used it yet, but decided I'm going to inaugurate my Presto deep fryer with something easy, simple and hard to mess up: OreIda crinkle-cut fries. Already got the frozen fries, Wesson oil and Heinz Limited Edition Jalapeno ketchup.

I've decided my second will be either fried shrimp (using Paula Deen's spicy coating recipe-- take that PC police!!) or straight wings with a classic buffalo sauce.

Posted by: qdpsteve at February 11, 2014 12:50 AM (HVI5a)

Those aren't real French Fries. You want real French Fries, and they are glorious, get big baker potatoes, peel off most of the skins, but not all, and cut them in slabs about 3/8 by 1/2 inch cross-section, and deep fry them in lard. Lard works way better than vegetable fat for deep-frying. Cut thick, like that, and well-drained, they are not greasy.

Have you not read the news lately? Posted by: ManWithNoParty at February 11, 2014 01:03 AM (ojnk6) If a team takes him early, they take him early. People get drafted too high in the draft all the time. Only Denver thought that Tebow was worth a first round pick, and God bless them they used it on him. Made him a lot more money than he would have made. Tim Tebow's problem wasn't that he was a Christian, it was because he couldn't hit a receiver more than 45% of the time.

392 #358

$3 million isn't that bad for what was treated as an 'event.' There was a large cast of characters who all had to be around for most of the production.

This was why ER and Lost were pricey shows. Lost started out with 70 actors committed to be around the set, even though some of them were little more than extras for the entire first season.

Surrisingly, some of the costliest shows have been sitcoms, mainly because of salaries and the great value of expanding the syndication package once you hit the magic hundred episodes. The contracts for the actors' commitment tend to be three to five years. If the show is a big success the actors tend to hold out for big raises if they think the show would die without them. Thus the last season of Friends cost around $10 million an episode. Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Two and a Half Men got pretty expensive. I guess the last probably still is but the kid, who was getting $650K per episode is pretty much gone AFAIK, and Ashton Kutcher probably committed for less than hat Charlie Sheen was getting.

394 Thankfully on Facebook, people are already arranging counter-demonstrations. Counter-demonstrations aren't always the best way to handle them. I'm reminded of the "huge" KKK demonstration a few years ago in the birthplace of the KKK: Pulaski, Tennessee. After years of litigation, Pulaski had to accede to the KKK's demand that they be allowed to demonstrate. The people of Pulaski, Tennessee decided to fucking ignore them. When the KKK marched through their town, no one attended. Every business in Pulaski was closed that day. Every single fucking business. The KKK marched through empty streets. They haven't returned to Pulaski, Tennessee.

A pro team has 7-8 picks a draft. They won't reach for a guy for a feel good story because their job is depending on the players performing. He was projected as a 3rd-4th rounder, and if he drops past the 4th, he will get picked since he has projected NFL talent. Will he be a starter? No. Will he play special teams for a few years while developing? Yes. Anybody taking him above the 3rd round because ermagosh he's teh ghey!!! will be watching his team go 5-11 for the next several seasons because he is not drafting smartly.

(I fucking despise "meh" in a comment, sorry cobs and Morons.) First comment: Well, then his agent is earning the money properly. Jeez, how hard does Andrew fucking Luck's agent really have to work? Second and Third: He's a highly decorated player. His team this year did far better than Teblow's team of '06, which lucked out to get THE Ohio State in the BCS championship game. Mizzou only lost in OT to the 'Cocks before falling to Auburn in the $EC championship game, then won their bowl game.

444 The fact that you despise the SEC is crystal clear. Curious as to why this mid grade player, at best, is such a pet cause of yours? As you may have seen, IMO, he feels like he has jacked himself up in the draft by this move. I still have rhe opinion that this was a calculated thing. IMO only, again

Yes, I do loathe the $EC but as a 'Nole fan I actually was more apprehensive about FSU facing Mizzou because of their D than Auburn (who needed smoke and mirrors and signal-ganking to remain in the title game).

493 A dangerous precedent was made by the Supreme Court in its "Prop. 8" ruling regarding same-sex marriage. In that ruling, the people were denies standing. The California Gov. and Attorney General refused to defend Prop. 8, which defined marriage as being between a man and a woman, thus allowing the ruling of a judge to stand which overturned the law, and prohibited anyone else from defending the law based on standing. In effect, it meant that a Gov. and/or Attorney General did not like a provision of a state Constitution that constrained them, they could just overturn it by refusing to stand against motions to overturn it, with the acquiescence of a judge who was inclined to agree with them. Regardless of what you think about same-sex marriage, the ramifications of this ruling are abhorrent - A governor and attorney general who are constrained by their state's Constitution can overthrow that limitation by refusing to uphold it against a challenge in Federal court. California likely would have voted to allow same-sex marriage fairly soon. The ramifications of that ruling are now being felt in Nevada, where the Republican Governor and the Democrat Attorney General are refusing to defend their own state Constitution's provision regarding marriage. The irony is that the Nevada legislature already voted to change the state Constitution to allow gay marriage (which will likely pass again in 2015 regardless of if the GOP or Dems control the state Senate - Nevada requiring the legislature vote by a majority vote in two separate legislatures to approve a Constitutional amendment), with a strong likely hood that such amendment would be approved in 2016! Rather than let representative democracy take its course, the rabid left have yet again decided to side-step the law and impose more immediately what they would have gotten in a few years time more legitimately! I, personally, believe that marriage is a distinct union between male and female, and that male and female are not interchangeable. I also believe that same-sex marriage will be accepted by the majority as fact soon if not now, and accept that same-sex marriage being declared to be the law is inevitable at this stage. That this inevitable democratic process is being swept aside so easily, should cause anyone, including supporters of same-sex marriage, to step back with grave concern. Some thoughts on the latest situation in Nevada: http://politicalhat.com/2014/02/11/bipartisan-assault-on-marriage-and-the-nevada-constitution/ Some earlier thoughts on the California situation: http://politicalhat.com/2013/06/26/not-so-gay-day-for-democracy/ Frankly, I've thought the perfect solution would be to declare all marriages to be "domestic partnerships" and throw that open to any consenting adults. They'd have the choice of declaring that such union was a "marriage" while allowing anyone to agree with that designation or not. Rights so associated would be equally applied to all, and not rights would be denied based on biological sex or legal gender. In effect, it would let individuals, and thus society decide what is or is not marriage, without denying legal rights to anyone. I know that the rabid Left would not agree to that because it would deny them the power to force their morality and opinions on society...

506 Thinking a bit about the subject.....the cobs have red lines before deploying the TB3K.....and a smarter (relatively speaking) troll can avoid them for a while. When TB3K happens, however, all sign of that hash disappears from the entire blog -- comments even renumber. So the question becomes, what things irritate you enough to use this tool before TB3K rolls through? (I think one of my two has been banhammered since.)

And the answer is, they become tiresome. They're doing a schtick that just doesn't fuckin' work. They're like a late-night comic not getting a laugh but still telling the same kind of joke. "My aunt's so fat...." *silence* "My uncle's so fat...." *silence* "My cousin's so fat....." "This post has been eaten by rabid Ewoks....."

MAx was talking to me on a prior thread about a time I just couldn't communicate with Deety. He was making it sound like the biggest deal in the world, but -- back when I made the comments -- I could see I wasn't providing the comfort I was trying to provide and withdrew. I like Deety, and I figured that I'd sincerely apologize later, and that would be it. Communicating through comments -- regardless of how well we do it at any given time -- isn't exactly an exact science, and it stands to reason things'll go crossways every once in a while.

So I know there's a MAx with memory who has been observing me in particular. I don't know if he's friendly or malign, but he did me a service to remind me about the Deety thing.

The word "othering".....is exclusively used by the left. The concept behind it is exclusively used by the left. And it sounds like it's from a Newspeak dictionary that fell through some weird spacewarp out of the novel 1984. I don't want you to feel like I'm rejecting you or don't want to see you around, I'm honestly giving you a piece of advice to improve what you do. If you want to know better language to use, study the theological meaning of the word "redemption" to the point where you can use it appropriately in sentences -- not only will it better allow you to pass among the righties....you may end up as a better person.

The Ross Douthat piece struck me in in more than a couple of ways.

First, it had the feel of the Star Trek: Next Generation episode when the crew defrosted a bunch of folks from the 21st century, only to inform them that the persuit of money had no value any more. I noticed that this theme was never again used in any Star Trek episode across all of the franchises.

It must have raised more questions than could be answered, like .. why would anybody be a “serf” in such an enlightened age ? Who would want a dangerous task ? Why wouldn’t they all want to be Captain of a Star Fleet vessel ?

On the conservative side, things are somewhat clearer. There are libertarians who like the basic income idea, but only as a substitute for the existing welfare state, not as a new expansion. Both “rugged individualist” right-wingers and more communitarian conservatives tend to see work as essential to dignity, mobility and social equality, and see its decline as something to be fiercely resisted.

Â… this brings me to the second point, on the conservative side, things are somewhat clearer. Who would be able to survive a Zombie Apocalypse ?
In the such an event, the Progressive bastions, the cities, who look like “World War Z.” None of them would survive.

Lastly, Douthat thinks we live in a ‘post-scarcity society.’ Isn’t the whole underlying political point of AGW that oil is scare ? .. notice that in the AGW mindset of politicians, it isn’t that carbon is completely bad, it’s that fossil fuels aren’t renewable.

‘Post-scarcity society’ fits in the Obama-esque world that is also post-partisan and post-racial … these fit so well in the world with unicorns.

Which world that is ? .. I have no idea.

Well, I may have found a flute player and soprano.  That would leave tenor, violin (preferably viola), cello, and piano.  My own keyboard playing is really coming along.  I'm gobsmacked at how good I could be if I had put this much effort (really only about 1-2 hours a day, though not consistently, but with focused technique and material I love) into it the last 20 years.

I really have begun thinking about keyboard pedagogy lately.  I know my technique is a bit unorthodox but it's all about getting the right (err, appropriate) fingers at the right place at the right time.  What works for one person doesn't work for another.

An underappreciated element to keyboard work is the somewhat underdocumented thread between the Basso continuo of Baroque music and the piano fills of today. There has always been demand, since keyboard instruments existed, to have them fill up the spaces between instruments capable of limited numbers of pitches. Very quickly, this need was extended to echo rhythms and motifs of the principal players. Afterwards, the accompanist needed to move with the modulations of the piece and -- to a certain extent -- both herald them before they happened and echo them to indicate completion.

I'm not sure exactly where you are in your keyboard skills, but there comes a time when one must turn away from dexterity and familiarity and hunker down with harmonies, cadences, and all the other bad boys of music theory.

559 Do we have any National Guard vets here? If so, did your training include simulations like these and, if so, what was the threat in the simulation? Posted by: Aetius451AD at February 11, 2014 01:47 AM (TGgNi) Never. Was never discussed in any training situation I ever encountered. We had the annual two weekend riot training crap, but everything else was RA component warfighting. We're a Southern Illinois Infantry Unit. We are the evil Right Wing.

560 The federal agency process sends details contained in the annual filings for organizations with $50,000 in annual receipts or less to the Urban Institute, which is funded at least partly by government payments as well as contributions from far-left activist George Soros.

The IRS page directs groups to file with the Urban Institute, although apparently other providers also can file the Form 990 documentation, which is required of every nonprofit, small and large.

561 Google is taking over the lease at the airfield that houses Hangar One — the giant eight-acre aircraft hangar that was built in 1933 to house massive dirigibles and now is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Silicon Valley.

On Monday, NASA said that Google subsidiary Planetary Ventures LLC had been selected to take over the blimp hangar — a highly visible icon on Silicon Valley’s Highway 101 — and operate the Moffett Federal Airfield that is already home to the fleet of private jets owns by Google’s executives.

563 Ace and the coblogs have taken this whole "freedom from work-lock" thing to heart, I guess.

564 RIP Shirley Temple Black. What a cutie! What a lady! True. I'd rather have STB back in the UN than the Jew hater Sammy Power taking up oxygen and space.

565 RIP Shirley Temple. The last living giant star from my dad's childhood that I can think of. When I think of others of her time (mid 1930s) and her degree of stardom, people like Clark Gable come to mind.

566 Farrow's a nut, a hypocrite, and a joo hater. Remember she was railing against the Israelis and defending Hamas in 2009.

567 Shirley Temple died? Well, I guess she had a long life and she certainly had a good one.

568 Mia Farrow still supports Roman Polanski, so fuck her. Sorry for the kids, tho, you didn't get to pick your parents.

569 Wait a minute....

We have a Democrat from New Jersey who has successfully managed to avoid putting any new laws on the books?

Why would anyone on the right complain about this?
