I'll be on the road for the next week so the ONT will be a bit...unsettled. So expect the not so expected.
Thought For the Day: Anger Is Not an Agenda
Anger is not an agenda. And outrage, as a habit, is not even conservative. Outrage, resentment, and intolerance are gargoyles of the Left. For us, optimism is not just a message - it's a principle. American conservatism, at its core, is about gratitude, and cooperation, and trust, and above all hope.It is also about inclusion. Successful political movements are about identifying converts, not heretics. This, too, is part of the challenge before us.
-- Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT)
Do Conservatives Keep "Falling in Love With Bad Boys" in Politics?
Matt Lewis:
Political candidates who pick the right enemies are too often supported, regardless of their failings. Most recently, we have seen this in the effort to oust Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell, of course, is no conservative hero, but conservatives were too quick to latch onto a flawed replacement.
Matt Bevin's campaign has been plagued with mistakes and odd revelations (did he really go to MIT?), the most recent of which is that he signed a letter in support of TARP. Bevin's in a different category from Trump and Nugent, but conservatives are supporting him for many of the same reasons, including the fact that he has the right enemy. For a lot of conservatives, it's better the devil you don't know than the devil you do.
Jazz Shaw:
No matter how much you may love to hear some people set their own hair on fire and spout out some really over the top, world class invective, Matt's point is a fair one. Winning in politics involves, well. winning, and there are still some lines that are only crossed at significant risk. Some actors on the political stage tend to cross - or completely shatter -those lines, and while the entertainment value is high, they risk becoming clowns in the eyes of many voters who may be more cautious. And when you endorse the clown, you become part of the circus by default.
Andrew Klavan on Purity vs Strategy
All my sympathies, in other words, are with the tea party. And I would truly love to see the RINO's skewered on their own horns. And yet. In general, Tea Party candidates tend to do well in congressional races where small, homogenous districts are in play. In Senate races where you need votes across an entire state, a primary victory for someone like Christine O'Donnell or Todd Akin may briefly fill the conservative heart with joy, but the loss of a Senate seat that could have been won is simply too high a price to pay for that momentary triumph.
We need to talk this out with good sense and without pompous ranting. Politics is the art of the possible. Writing belligerently purist articles, blog posts or comments is relatively easy. Winning elections is hard. Barack Obama is one of the most destructive presidents this country has ever seen, but a talented politician. If stopping him in his tracks requires stomaching some RINO's here and there, it seems a no brainer: It must be done.
A troubling, but plausible, argument from @ryanavent on why we need fewer workers: http://t.co/l9XiELKhAH
- Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) February 19, 2014
And Ezra Klein along with his number one most favorite-est president ever are just the guys to do it. Meanwhile there seems to be a bit of musical chairs going on as longtime journalists are being lured to new outlets by a media feeding frenzy. Which leads William Jacobson to declare that "Journalists" are the new no-money-down mortgages.
So we're somewhere on this curve and I'm guessing it's between greed and delusion:
Most front-line TSA agents despise the absurd rules they are ordered to enforce just as much as the public whose items are confiscated due to the rules. Ask almost any TSA employee what his or her least favorite part about the job is, and the answer will usually include a long list of managers, federal security directors, and other higher-ups.My six years at the TSA played out like a circus of absurd security regulations, presided over by a coterie of managers who, for the most part, made the Keystone Cops look competent.
There was the manager who was arrested for fleeing the police after being involved in a marijuana bust (and who was then back at work soon after, with barely a slap on the wrist). There was the manager who ordered all aluminum foil be confiscated from passengers due to the possibility of the boxes' serrated edges being used as weapons. There were the many managers who tried to have TSA employees terminated for gum-chewing - claiming that there were terrorists casing the airport, looking for gum-chewing screeners with their defenses down.
But in all my years at the TSA, the most absurd memo passed down from headquarters to front-line TSA employees - a memo that eventually took on legendary status among many screeners - came in 2012.One morning at briefing, my supervisor at the time - an old, gruff, no-nonsense man with an irreverent sense of humor - told us to gather around, as there was something important to brief.
"This comes down from the folks up in D.C.," he said. "So listen up."
The memo advised the entire TSA workforce that terrorists were plotting to use solar powered improvised explosive devices in order to harm aviation interests. But not to worry: TSA headquarters was on the case. The memo continued to explain that new technology was being explored in order to detect solar powered IEDs.
The supervisor tore his reading glasses off his face - whether he crushed the memo in his fist, I cannot remember.
"What the hell are these idiots up in D.C. talking about?" he asked. "Why would anyone need a solar powered bomb indoors, on a plane?"
Gibson Hollow Body Stratocasters and the Gell-Mann Effect
Can you spot the error in this newspaper article?
Seriously, if your gonna run an article on the Fender Stratocaster Jeff Beck is about as grand a Strat playing guitar god to showcase in a photo as you could find. And of course, that would be pretty easy to do. If you couldn't, it would be nice if they at least had him playing a Fender.
But a Gibson hollow body ?!?!?!?
Well I have one of both so to me a Gibson hollow-body stratocaster would be Teh Awesome. If it existed.
NY Post Reports the Capture of the Largest Handgun Ever Made!!
Or not assuming you have any idea about where the FNH Five-Seven gets its name from. Hint: The FNH Five-Seven fires a 5.7mm round which is about the same size as a .22 bullet.
Struggling New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton allegedly pointed a huge, armor-piercing pistol at his estranged wife during a domestic dispute, sources said, and was arrested Tuesday morning for gun possession.Ariane Raymondo-Felton - who recently filed for divorce - brought the Belgian-made pistol, an FNH Five-Seven 28mm handgun to the 20th Precinct on the Upper West Side, and the starting point guard later turned himself in for questioning, sources said.
...Sources said the 28 mm handgun is one of the largest made, and that his wife took it from their home on West 63rd Street.
Never forget all the layers of fact-checking and the Murray Gell-Mann Effect:
Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murray's case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward-reversing cause and effect. I call these the "wet streets cause rain" stories. Paper's full of them.
In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.
10 Japanese Travel Tips for Visiting America
Beware the family-style 'dinner plate':
In Japan, each person eating gets as many individual dishes as needed for the meal. Sometimes more than 10 dishes per person are used. In America, there is a method where a large bowl or dish is placed in the middle of the table, and you take as much as you like from there, and put it on a big dish said to be a "dinner plate."
Limited vending machines - i.e. no lobsters, beer, or panties:
Vending machines in the United States just give carbonated beverages. Coke particularly. If you try to buy the juice from a vending machine when you're thirsty, it's just all carbonate. I pressed the button and thought it would be a nice orange juice, but carbonate came out. I love carbonated, but there are times when it will make you sick indeed.
But optimism and little fear of failure:
In Japan, there is great fear of failure and mistakes in front of other people. It is better to do nothing and avoid being criticized than to taste the humiliation of failure. As a result, there are things we wanted to do, but did not, and often regret.
In America, you can make mistakes, fail, and it doesn't matter. It is a fundamental feeling that to sometimes be incorrect is natural. In addition, rather than thinking about mistakes and failures, American's have curiosity and say, "Let's try anyway!"
Probably isn't a surprise to longtime fans. A lot of the references came from Lucas' love of WWII movie dogfighting scenes and from the effects house's use of whatever model pieces they could get their hands on.
...Steve Gawley, model maker for A New Hope recalls, "We didn't have any money at all! I don't think we bought anything new - even the furniture in the screening room was recycled from Goodwill. We had a relationship with Monogram, a model kit company in Hawthorne, California, so we were able to order certain plastic trees with kit parts from some of their models and to buy 'returns' that maybe had a part missing - chances are we wouldn't need that part anyway. We'd get tremendous discounts on that kind of thing."
The Millennium Falcon model is covered in just such model kits. Pictured here is the 5 ft. Falcon model, used during the production of Episode IV. The main structure of the ship was made from scratch, but much of the rich detail was added using existing model pieces. On the hull of the Falcon you will find pieces of Panther tanks, Tiger tanks, Messerschmitt 109 fighters, Kubelwagons, and many more.
Bill Murray Remembers His Friend and Longtime Collaborator Harold Ramis
"Harold Ramis and I together did the National Lampoon Show off Broadway, Meatballs, Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day. He earned his keep on this planet. God bless him."
And Ramis' open-mindedness.
Granted it was a pre-nose-job ScarJo but still. I sure hope he's dating Lena out of love for her scintillating personality and general joie de vivre because if it's for her money, he's earning it the hard way.
The AoSHQ group. Yeah.

Wait, what?
I thought at the primary stage that O'Donnell and Akin were complete disasters waiting to happen, who filled my heart with utter dread. And then they showed themselves absolutely equal to proving my foreboding in full. They weren't just disasters, they were total catastrophes who caused severe damage in races in other states.
The persons whose "hearts were filled with joy" by Akin were McCaskill's campaign team. Akin was THE preferred candidate by them, and the state's Democrats heavily pushed crossover primary voting in order that Air Claire would face him in the general.

I loved the movie as a kid but those themes would never have occurred to me then. I caught the movie again on tv a couple years ago and the EPA thing popped right out at me. I mean, you have a very liberal looking bearded dude just totally on the warpath to shutting down the Ghostbusters. And at the end of the day, the Ghostbusters are triumphant.
There was also the dialog about when working in academia, you don't have to produce anything but in the private sector, they expect results.
When I saw the movie and was able to understand the implications of these themes, I was blown away that they were in a very successful Hollywood movie. I also thought to myself that most of the millions who have seen the movie probably didn't pick up on these themes at all.

The thing is, the Germans _have_ done business with the UAW. It's just that it was a long time ago, and all the executives and managers who lived through it are in retirement (which begins early in der Vaterland).
Look up the history of VW's former Pennsylvania plant.
Really what this new push is about is VW corporate desperately trying to keep the peace on the German labor front.
German heavy industry is not in a good way. Some analysts are saying the end of manufacturing there is on the horizon. Germany has high quality and high productivity, but also sky-high labor and energy costs. Rising ones. Of course, management will instinctively look towards places where labor and energy are cheaper, such as the USA.
This obviously worries German workers. Who are watching the turmoil at Opel AG in Germany (and Goodyear France and Ford UK) and getting very nervous.
The German unionists at IG Metall, who swing a pretty big stick politically and within VW, figure that if they have a doubleheader disadvantage versus Stateside workers on energy and labor costs, at least they can cut that down to a single disadvantage, energy, if the US plant goes union and the labor costs go up.

I cannot forsee a time when we return to a culture of independence and reject the mob mentality when our fellow countrymen go to these great of lengths to fit in with hipsters of all people.
What. the. hell. is. wrong. with. being. different.
Quick, let's all run off and vote Democrat while we're trying to fit in.
We're doomed.

OK, I see he does still have some Tickers up, but they're mostly recent ones. They're just a small fraction of what he has published.
Personally, I wish he would put the whole forum back up as read-only. There was a lot of good information and comments there.
Obviously, he reserves the right to change his mind at any time. Posted by: rickl at February 25, 2014 11:06 PM (sdi6R) Hide posts from (sdi6R)
I went in through the "Archive Access" thingie on the right, and it looked like they're still up. I use the one about the guy writing a check for childbirth and 3 days in the hospital all the time.
If you want to ask for the forum to go "read only", you could email him. Or if you just want to thank him for such great content over the years.

Was from Detroit. Came to Mississippi to fight for civil rights in the 1970s, ie after the FBI had pretty much destroyed segregation and the Klukkers. Went to law school up in MN and then came back to Jackson. And was just recently elected mayor after defeating the incumbent mayor Hank Johnson in the Democrat primary.

Any of you folks been following the Justina Pelletier case in Boston?
If not- The Pelletier family has a 14 year old daughter who had been diagnosed at Tufts Medical Center with Mitochondrial disease and was receiving treatment from Tufts. While at home, she came down with the flu and her doctor at Tufts recommended a doctor who was a gastroenterolgist at Boston Children's Hospital (but used to work at Tufts). The parents took her to B.C.H, but the doctor they were supposed to see wasn't working that night and they got the guy that was. He seemed to think that Mitochodrial is a crock of shit and that the parents were abusing the daughter by making her take the treatments recommended by her doctor at Tufts. He said that the daughter had pyschological issues. The family disagreed with this doctor (who only had finished his residencey 7 months prior to this) and tried to leave Against Medical Advice, but he called security and refused to let them leave. The hospital the called the Dept. of Children and Families who came in and assigned the daughter as a Ward of the State. In court, a judge has up-held DCF's decision to make her a ward of the state. All this time she has been held in a psych wing, and has not been treated for the Mitochondrial disease and has been getting worse as a result.
As a nurse, I can't fathom what Boston Childrens Hospital or the judge overseeing the case is thinking. Haven't they ever heard of the Patient Bill of Rights? Somebody needs an ass-kicking for this travesty.

And I think the Darryl Crowe character was a bit much (although I didn't mind suspending disbelief a bit for him). 183 What's all this witchcraft about Black Orchid leaving because she thinks Ace doesn't like her?
She thought Ace was making fun of rural people when he posted a story about two guys arrested for making cow porn. One was bonking the cow and the other was filming it.
The same post included a story about NY police who committed fraud by filing false disability claims for 9/11 and another one about a Manhattan guy arrested for drawing dicks on his girlfriend's artwork.
Personally, I thought the story about the police lying about 9/11 was by far the worst of the three. I don't see what's wrong with having Bessie be a fellow's co-star in a porn film. But then I'm from Wisconsin.

Yeah, what a bunch of hot sexy right-wing bad boys those lot are. Just bursting with the earthy scent of forbidden conservative fantasies. You know that right-wingers all over the country are breathing heavily at the thought and whispering "Take me now! Right here! You 'severe conservative' you!"

276 It was Antioch College in Ohio what came out with the college sex contract in the early 1990's.
Antioch ended up folding. I read a story about it quite a while ago. The place was insane. It made Berkeley and UW Madison sound like Baptist schools of theology in comparison. Antioch was for students who thought Oberlin was too repressive and reactionary. (And Oberlin's is crazy left by normal standards.) At one point they stopped issuing grades or any sort of core cirriculum - and the academic reputation of the school fell (and in the world of today's academia, you have to be pretty ridiculous to have that happen.)
Probably more significantly, they horribly mismanaged their finances . It's hard to believe lefty nutbags could be so bad with money, but there you go.

Honestly? If you're insulted by that because you think its making fun of rural people well suck it the fuck up. You know who's made a career out of insulting rural people in the same way that ace supposedly did? Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy. And I don't know where you grew up but in my little rural town surrounded by corn, cows, hogs and chickens we sure did make a lot of jokes about the other towns banging sheep. Including references to gloves with Velcro on them.

Just decadence and sloth. Sitting on our couches collecting welfare all day writing cowboy poetry. And thinking of how to screw over everybody else.
And the GOP doesn't want to do anything to stop any of it and actively fights people who do.
Got it. Fuck those purists.

This McClatchy article states:
"The pharmaceutical, and securities and investment industries are among the top contributors to the North Carolina Democrat, widely viewed as one of the more vulnerable incumbents in this yearÂ’s mid-term elections."
AKA Many big banks, investment firms, and pharma. Pigs at the current trough. Another big contributer from the FEC filing was Insurance companies and Lawyers.
Kay has around 7 million cash on hand as of Dec 31 2013.
"She has long been one the industryÂ’s leading recipients of money, ranking second among her Senate colleagues to Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the minority leader, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan campaign financial watchdog group."

The backlash against the democrats and anger over the medicare cuts/healthcare bill won the house for the republicans in 2010. The democrats won 2012 with Mitt Romney as Satan and forcing women to keep their rape babies, etc, etc.

In the case of the Dems, it isn't necessary to make up lies, it is only necessary to accurately describe what they are/have been doing. The difficulty is, as usual, getting the media to present the story.
Posted by: Mike Hammer at February 26, 2014 12:41 AM (aDwsi)
Well it doesn't help that most of the GOP elected and consultant class pisses their pants whenever a democrat or media person criticizes them.
It also doesn't help that they don't believe anything they say. I really think most of them sound like they are reading from an internal script that they have memorized from their talking points.
And it also doesn't help that they have shown no compunction to actually live up to their words with their actions.
Why bother.

Conservatives seem to finally be getting good at reaching people through mass media. We finally have someone besides just Rush to kick ass and take names. Don't understand why I'm crazy for thinking that's VERY good news and something we should be nurturing, rather than just sitting back waiting for the big burning.

Roma Downey can produce your Christian movie, and the devil can get left on the cutting room floor.
Or Harvey Weinstein can produce your movie, and by the time he's done with it people will think that all Christians are Carrie White's mom, only with less good looks and personality, and that Islam is the wave of the future.
Which would you choose?

I was watching that too. Seething. Because a thought popped into my head earlier today when I heard what he's been saying.
That piece of shit and his ilk are the kind that bend over backward to defend terrorists (with his old law firm), or murderers, or all kinds of the worst shit-stains that end up in court. Often they gravitate to these reprehensible people and are able to muster up vigorous, sometimes twisted defenses for their client. Amazingly!
So they'll say, and I realize, a lawyer doesn't necessarily condone or support a client's actions, and that even worst of the worst need
representation. I get that. It is our system.
But then it becomes laughable for Steadman to claim that, for AGs, it's just peachy not to fight for a law that you personally think is indefensible. A law
that was passed by a legislative body, or by a vote of the
people, and becomes an AG's sworn duty to stand up for.
That's our system too, you chinless dickhead. If you don't like it, or it's too damn hard, then find another fucking job.

The act that caused so much agony is known in the gay community as "felching". This involves the insertion of a cardboard tube into the rectum followed by the introduction of a rodent (usually a Gerbil), which is forced up the tube into the lower intestine. Problems started when Bustone could not retrieve the Gerbil from Rodriguez's anus. Rodriguez had orgasmed and demanded the removal of the rodent. Bustone however could not see up the tube. To help him see, he lit a match lighting intestinal gas tapped in the tube. The flame shot up the tube lighting the the fur of the Gerbil, and detonating a larger pocket of Gas behind the hapless animal.
The ensuing explosion shot the flaming Gerbil down the pipeline into Bustone's face causing the burns. Sheriff Hugo Root told the Reporters "It serves ['em] right".

I've got to fix that damned script.....I'm not hiding your posts, or I couldn't quote them -- I've got an add-in that I got from Merovign that allows me to ignore people by hash. I've used it three times -- one, the guy got banned, the second I have no regrets and have no idea what happened, and the third I rescinded because I was having a passive-aggressive hissy fit.
I'm more concerned, however, about you and Thor. I can understand him signing on to a five-year plan and all that, but doesn't he get weekends or vacay? I thought that part of your difficulties with the arrangement was that you'd be expected to entertain.....but you're describing something more remote.

Sadly, I have yet to figure out exactly what that means. Or cisgendered. Or transgendered, for that matter, because WTF?
In my day you had your trannies and your crossdressers and your drag drag queens. They knew who they were, and they were proud of it. There was none of this "cis" shit.
Seriously, WTF? I don't get it.

It's the Great Firewall.
The PRC authorities have it dialed down tighter than a constipated mouse's bunghole at the moment. Inbound and outbound.
Blame Ukraine. The Chicom apparatchiks DO NOT WANT anyone looking at a popular street uprising ousting an authoritarian government, and possibly becoming inspired. That's the biggest nightmare for the PRC government.

Get past the current malady, Sven. That should be priority #1. Then start thinking outside the box -- article V convention, repudiate the national debt, that sort of thing. The flagrant lawlessness of the last five years have left us with trendlines heading toward oblivion, sure.....but there will be a tipping point. It'll involve death, destruction, blood, and sacrifice -- but it will happen. And when it does, Progressive politics will lie on the ash-heap of history.

In the 2012 election, I went full-on activist. I donated money and time, I walked my precinct, I delivered a bunch of refreshments to the local party headquarters. In return, I've been put on every sucker list imaginable. I have stacks of unopened mail asking for yet more money whose postage alone dwarfs the amount I contributed.
Think of that. I donated money to get specific candidates elected -- some were, some weren't -- but more money than I kicked in has been spent to try to get me to give yet more.
And while doing so, the establishment Republicans have shat on everything I hold dear, time and time again. They've played along with Dems and fought Cruz, Paul, and Lee -- and pandered to the loathsome press.

Supporting some 'Tea Party' candidates and not necessarily certain other ones = the same behavior? O-kay.

Aha! Our master plan is succeeding!
According to our finely calibrated calculations, by the 2048 election cycle, we will have recaptured the Senate. And by then, ORCA will finally have been debugged. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, defeatists.

I was looking for an inexpensive deer rifle that I could go to the store and get ammo for (as opposed to the Arisaka, which I have to handload for, or the Mosin, which I have to mail order for), but I wasn't really gun shopping today. I saw a Mossberg 100ATR in 30-06 for less than 3 bills and had to pick it up. With a Redfield scope it came out to right at 500 USD.

Ordinarily, I'd be sitting in the first row, right over the conductor's right shoulder, during at least one of the performances.

Not tonight. I work Fri-Mon nights. Yeah, weekends, but it works well while Sis is going through her radiation treatments (breast cancer, I f'n hate all sorts of cancer but this one is at least more survivable than the other sorts). She keeps Youngest Son for me while I am working.

The last two I went out specifically to buy them. This one, like I said I was eyeballing several of the more inexpensive offerings from Savage, Marlin and Ruger when this one kind of jumped out at me. Not intending to buy today (hunting season is a ways off yet) but I did intend to get something other than VMBARs that I have to get specialty ammo for before then.

I'm not really a Pharrell fan, but did you know that he comes from right here in my backyard? Va. Beach native. Years ago, I did some work at the local studio he used to record at. He even did a song with MJ ther at one time.
Posted by: shredded chi at February 26, 2014 04:53 AM (mwg7N)
Did not know that. I'm familiar with VaBch, spent some time there at NAS in an earlier life. I know the song from Despicable Me 2 (I have a 2 yr old grandson who lives with me. Well, his parents live with me, too. I say that I live with my kids, but I usually leave out the fact that it's my house. I find it funnier that way. Yeah, I know, I really need to get out more...)

Then it came to me. They've reduced personnel level in the evening and can no longer properly monitor that entrance for shrinkage, much as the supermarkets do typically around 9 PM. But the supermarkets have done that for a very long time, at least back to the early 90s. To see Walmart cutting back that way says something.

If the GOP had some level of credibility, then yes, the argument that we "can't be purists" makes perfect sense. You can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good and all of that. Politics is about what is possible, etc. You have to learn to compromise. Blah, blah.
Sure, that is all true. To a point. If the GOP really was working as best it could against difficult political winds to a) reduce spending; b) not pass amnesty; c) repeal Obamacare; d) reduce the size of the federal gov't; e) reform entitlements; f) eliminate some entitlements or other programs - well then the above points make perfect sense. All intelligent people realize you can't have everything and you particularly can't have everything in politics. And, most conservatives recognize that the the U.S. electorate isn't ready for full-on 100% red-blooded conservatism immediately. That is all true.
But, you need a base-line of credibility before you tell people "trust us, we're doing the best we can" in the face of actions that are the opposite of what you promised us you would do.
You can't always tell us that we have to suck it up and support the GOP no matter what when the GOP not only fails to deliver, but actively works against everything we stand for.
That is what the GOP apologists miss. they are so blinded by their obsession with "winning" elections by electing GOP candidates that they lose sight of what it is we, as conservatives, are trying to accomplish. They have become so blinded with GOP loyalty that they no longer care about conservative goals whatsoever - despite lip service that they do.
In other words, at some point the end goal has to be more than just electing republicans. Right now, that appears to be the only goal of the GOP and GOP apologists - they have nothing else to point to. The GOP has almost no record of doing anything conservative. The very limited and spotty record it has on pursuing conservative goals - cutting taxes, Reagan (mixed record - raised deficit spending and grew the gov't while cutting taxes and deregulating), and the very limited Contract with America - is more than offset by 30 years of raising spending, increasing gov't, pushing amnesty, creating new entitlement programs, and vocally shitting on conservatives and conservatism.
So, with no credibility on the "trust us" front and a record of working against conservatives and conservatism, all of the advice Matenloch puts forward is nonsense.
You are pretending we are working in a vacuum where we only have GOP campaign rhetoric to look at and nothing else. Sure, if we went by what GOP candidates claim during primaries, the GOP is fairly conservative.
But, when you look at actions, the GOP is not at all conservative. Not even remotely.
That is the problem that GOP apologists never confront with all their nonsense.
