The 2013 Duranty Awards For Mendacious Journalism Have Been Announced
Based on the lies and dishonesty of Walter Duranty, the New York Times Moscow correspondent during the 1920s and 1930s who was a apologist for Soviet crimes and helped cover up the holodomor.
The Duranty Prize for 2013:Second runner-up: John Judis for his absurdly biased and ignorant reporting on Israel and the Middle East in general in The New Republic. Presentation speech by Ron Radosh.
First runner-up: Candy Crowley of CNN for her unprecedented personal intervention in a presidential debate she was moderating on the subject of Benghazi. The committee realized this intervention took place 2012, but the committee noted Crowley continued to justify this unconscionably biased intervention throughout 2013. Presentation speech by Claudia Rosett.
THE DURANTY FOR 2013: David Kirkpatrick of the New York Times for his supposedly thorough unraveling of the Benghazi affair, "A Deadly Mix in Benghazi," which was revealed almost instantly to be a meretricious piece of deception worthy of Walter Duranty himself. Presentation speech by Roger Kimball.
Along with a new award - The Rather - for lifetime achievement in dishonest reporting.
THE RATHER: Seymour Hersh for a lifetime of astonishingly dishonest journalism on subjects ranging from the war in Iraq to JFK and Marilyn Monroe. Presentation speech by Roger L. Simon
There are some geopolitical lessons in history that everyone ought to bear in mind, like "don't get into a land war in Asia," and "Don't invade Russia, period," and one of those ought to be, "Don't invade Ireland. You might actually conquer it and then you have to rule them, and good luck with that."

Forget about all the rapey PIV rape-rape - the real danger is NTHE (Near Term Human Extinction). For you see all humans (and life) on Earth will inevitably be extinct within 15 years.
And who caused this? Hint: It begins with a 'p' and ends with 'archy' and oppression.
The major cause of this extinction will be that the global warming and melting of the ice has triggered a series of feedback loops of toxic gas emissions such as methane and carbon dioxide which were trapped in the soils and underwaters of the earth by the ice and frost. These feedback loops have already started, are now unstoppable and life on earth is already on its way to extinction. No technology can stop this - especially since male technology is part of the problem and their use and fabrication will only emit more greenhouse gases.
And how can she be so sure of this? Well because Top. Scientist. Men. say so.
How could this not be credible? The facts are indisputable. Who am I to dispute the long term data and biological facts observed and measured by hundreds of scientists? I'm the first to be critical about male science but this doesn't seem to be a matter of personal opinion to me. Even if there were room for doubt or error regarding the probability of certain species surviving such as bacteria or fungi, the evidence is so compelling that I don't think it's an option to ignore it. I sorely wish it wouldn't be true.
Then comes the rage.
Men, homo rapiens, you scum, you filth. There is no word to describe the extent of your evil, you are pure evil, pure lechery. I hate you, how I hate you. In the 250,000 years of your rotten, defunct existence, you have managed to kill 5 million years of life on earth. . . .
The unstoppable death-machine has always only been orchestrated by the homo rapiens. By men. YOU. Women are not and have never been responsible for the atrocities committed by men, for men's global industrial rape and death system. By lying and deceiving you are continuing to be part of the problem, because you are masking the fact that the obvious solution all the time, long before the extinction of all life was impending, was to depopulate the earth of males or to reduce them to manageable levels again - only by doing so would have men's patriarchal and industrial necrophilic sado-system come to an end without destroying the rest of life.
And a modest proposal for how you as a PIV-lovin' homo rapien can possibly help.
How many men, at best, will commit suicide? Maybe 1%? Or one in five thousand? ...So, to all men, before all life goes extinct, you could at least do us the favour of leaving us these 15 last years free of your foul presence. You never really cared about life anyway. You're not even capable of interacting with her. What difference does it make to you? What is one sub-male human species compared to billions of species on earth? Nothing.
The current over/under for some kind of Official Intervention for this sad woman is 6 months.
Universities Move to Disqualify Any Pro-Israel Students From Student Government
Going to Israel, accepting any support from pro-Israel groups, or even just publicly defending Israel are enough to disqualify you for any kind of campus office.
Did the Federal Minimum Wage Make the Great Depression Great?
The result, as scholars Lee Ohanian, Harold Cole, and others have discovered, is a tragic perversity. In a depression. when employers were losing money, wages were too high. In real terms, wages were higher than the overall economic trend for the rest of the century. They were sometimes higher than in "socialist" Europe. Wages in the 1930s were even higher than John L. Lewis himself imagined, because the decade saw currency deflation. Reducing wages, the old lesser evil chosen by employers in troubled times, would not be sanctioned by the powerful New Dealers in Washington. So employers often laid people off - hence the mostly double-digit unemployment of the 1930s.
Study: Earthlings Not Ready For Alien Encounters Yet
The people of planet Earth would be wise to raise their cosmic consciousness prior to contact with an extraterrestrial civilization, a new study shows. 'The scientific community now accepts to some degree that this contact may occur in the next 50 to 100 years,' said Gabriel De la Torre, a clinical neuropsychologist and human factors specialist at the University of Cádiz in Spain. 'Consequently, we are becoming more concerned about this possibility and its aftermath Certainly the topic of contact with extraterrestrial civilizations raises a number of questions that are not easy to answer. We estimate that this type of event will have not only a social effect, but also on both consciousness and biology as well.'
What the fuck is 'cosmic consciousness' anyway? And plus the ETs seem to have been choosing human ambassadors for us for quite a while and apparently these are the people with the proper amount of 'cosmic consciousness'.

Per the now immortal Jimmy Kimmel prank of asking passers-by to sign a petition to "end women's suffrage", which got a huge positive response rate, I am figuring I will go round with a clipboard asking people to endorse a government program to reduce atmospheric concentrations of the "toxic gas" of carbon dioxide to zero.
I expect a strong positive response rate to that, too. Especially on the university campuses.
Double-header: officially ban carbon dioxide AND dihydrogen monoxide. Deadly dangerous chemicals! Both of them implicated in global warming!
It's for the planet. And for Obama*. Won't you sign here?

Hell, why would they want to put up with our crap?
If any aliens approached Earth, they'd intercept all of the television and radio signals over the last several decades. If they were smart, they'd translate it and notice how over the last several decades, we're just getting whinier and bitchier.
They should just wipe us out from orbit and harvest the planet.

Earth - Unremarkable planet in the third orbit of a thoroughly unremarkable star. Dominant life form is a bipedal ape-like creature not long removed from leaving the trees. Mostly harmless though some are thoroughly annoying in their prattle. Simply put, just avoid the whole star system.

I was going to visit an elderly family member and got buttonholed by an energetic, charming male centenarian. He said, "If I'd have known I was going to live this long, I would have indulged more and hopefully lived less.."
He asked me to bring him booze, smokes and evil food. I smuggled in everything for him but the smokes. It's his right to shorten his life (what, by a few weeks?) with alcohol or scary food, but in a place where three-quarters of the residents were on bottled oxygen, I figured an ignition source might shorten more than one life.

Surgery is commonplace for the surgeon, nurses, etc, but DAMN, they're literally chopping out an entire joint and replacing it with a titanium one held in place with rods and screws and who knows what else.
And they say they'll have him up walking on it that night.
Makes me shudder. Posted by: BCochran1981 - Credible Hulk at May 08, 2014 11:49 PM (GEICT) Hide posts from (GEICT)
I've known people who had joint replacements, and I'll see 'em one month looking all haggard and drawn and hobbling -- then the next month (sometimes within days of the surgery), they'll look 10 years younger. You'd think that surgery that radical would be a major shock to their systems, but you forget how much of a continuing grind their old joints were to make them a candidate.
And this is something that was covered as almost science-fiction in the Time-Life Science books when I was a kid.

Gots to say, i know plenty of witches and frankly this poor little nitwit makes good upstanding nature0worshipping people look bad. it is possible to be a pagan and also not a totally batshit insane fuckwit. One of my best friends is pagan, shoots better than i do, and would fit right in with the horde. Mero even met her husband, when he brought his mare to me to get a month of riding on her. Great people, both totally love PIV, and their nature thing seems to have a Sky Lady and a Dying God that pours his blood out on the earth so we may live. I tease them that they are simply Catholics in denial, and they take it good naturedly. So not all witches are ....
well...

The Mississippi Gulf Coast that is the core of MS Dist 4 is crammed full of Catholic churches of Serbian and Vietnamese descent in Biloxi. Other Catholic churches dot the coastline along with Episcopal and Baptist churches. Then there is Keesler AFB, Navy SeaBee base, and Stennis Space Center.
What I worry about is the sore loser of a Blue Dog Democrat Gene Taylor. He held that seat for 22 years before Palazzo booted him out. Now Gene has 'seen the light' and switched to the Republican Party and is running against Palazzo.

The only reasoning I can think of is that they want to include those kids who do not do well with repetitive drills. Therefore, they change the curriculum to provide "solutions" for those kids, but teach all of the solutions to the entire classroom, all at once. Therefore, confusion abounds.

The pic on the left is her attempting to do it the way the school taught. Half an hour, crying, screaming, wanting to quit, over half the answers wrong.
Pic on the right is a quick worksheet I made up. Complete in in under 3 minutes. The only thing close to wrong was when I reminded her to carry the one. Once.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the left side it looks like she knew what she was doing but doubted herself because of what she was told to do.

Oh. It's because Papa Doc Obama is coming to town. It takes two massive C-17s simply to carry the advance detail. (Which is insane but true.)

My understanding is that technically it's "Moffett Federal Airfield" now.
And all sorts of gov/mil aircraft end up there, especially Navy ones who now have pretty much nowhere else to go in the SF Bay Area since all of the other former USN bases with airstrips here have been BRAC'ed out of existence.
But you're right that there is no excuse for arrogant dot-com executives housing their private jets there, and tanking up on below market rate federal jet fuel into the bargain. Other than, of course, blatant cronyism.

Got an email earlier that had pictures of algebra problems in the body of the email. I replied, changing the subject line to "I'm pretty sure this wasn't meant for me."
I just received a response:
"Oops! Wrong Cthulhu!
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn
Sent from my iPhone
"
So the question is -- if this might have been some sort of NSA ruse to tag my computer, should I be more or less concerned that they knew the quote? [and what am I to make of "Wrong Cthulhu"?]

Oops! Was watching the solo.....Clapton does a very interesting trick in the early part....he matches the rhythm and key of the backing players, then slows a bit....like he's not quite keeping up....but then slows a bit more until it's obvious he's not on the beat....then drops off the backing players and starts heading off harmonically. Very cute little move, there.

Obama has been pretty adamant about implementing his agenda without worrying about Congress, I doubt that a GOP senate without a 2/3 majority will stop him. Obama's lame-duck years could be the worst of all.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day in the Bible Belt, those who grew up with Playboy and those who grew up with Playguy will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of California, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little funbuddies will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by their behavior around cocks but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.

We've had them stay with us on numerous occasions since they were very young -- their parents being trusting souls -- but we almost always take only 1 or 2 at a time....so as not to be outnumbered.
The #1 son (#2 kid) is a bit more challenging than most. I remember a "meltdown" at a park that lead to me hauling him on my shoulder for two blocks back to our home while he was screaming his lungs out in frustration. I'm sure it's tough for parents -- but with the current regime, it's even tougher for nonparents.
Anyway -- the "synchronized potty breaks" thing reminded me of an episode.
We were driving #1 godson back to his parents -- a two-hour drive -- and were concerned for his well-being. So we were talking to him in the back seat, but he was a bit cranky. In the midst of a bunch of questions and discussion, he delivered his manifesto: "I'm not tired, I'm not hungry, and I don't have to go to the bathroom."
Whereupon we drove into a McDonald's, sent him to the restroom while we ordered food, got back in the car and fed him a burger, and he conked out within 20 minutes.
Which has lead to the BH and I using "I'm not tired, I'm not hungry, and I don't have to go to the bathroom" as a comment on anything that is not going to happen as stated.

Go direct to the source. Potassium iodide.
Old-time doctor's mnemonic.
"If ye know not what nor why, prescribe ye K and I."
Far more reliable and consistent than natural sources such as seaweed.
Make sure before doing so that you don't have Hashimoto's syndrome, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid that will be worsened by iodine or anything else which positively influences thyroid function.

Helpful things with ants -- diatomaceous earth, cinnamon, and vacuum cleaners.
Diatomaceous earth is a bulk garden-supply thing. It kills insects because it wedges open their exoskeletons and they dehydrate. Anything large or having an endoskeleton treats it like dirt.
Ants hate cinnamon -- if you have a restaurant supply place where you can get it by the pound, it's worth getting some just to mess with the ants.
And, finally, a vac -- get a bunch of ants, then put in a poof of diatomaceous earth to sentence them to a lingering, horrific death. Repeat as needed.

Oooh. Tell me more.
Here in the SF Bay Area, all native ant species have been outcompeted and exterminated by the externally introduced Argentine ant supercolony. They're like a hybrid of the Star Trek universe Borg and the Terminator universe T-101.
("I'll be back. Resistance is futile.")
Really the only way to deal with the little monsters is to seal your domicile down to the smallest pore. Except that Argentine ants will get in through any opening larger than the diameter of a human hair. Arrrgh!

Meh, you *might* recognize me. I got 'volunteered' for this, as in here are 3 choices, with the last one being me walking out the door unemployed.
Needless to say while the shift is fucking with my sleep schedule something fierce I'm resume farming.
