111 We do not. That's a new one. Honestly, I typically don't cook with beer all that much. I've had good results with something mass-produced like a Killian's Irish Red.  It works for brats and steamers.

Something of that sort is what I would look for.  I think it is a Lager, so it is sweeter and light-flavored.

I'm preferential to "Lawnmower Beer", so YMMV.

I have it every two weeks now, it's quick & easy & one of the five or six things that still taste as good now as they did when I was a kid. One of the others is a pastry made by several local bakeries called Icicles, they are oblong white cakes, with chocolate frosting & nuts & coconut flakes on top. My father used to get them every Sunday when I was a kid. I forgot all about them until I drove by a long forgotten bakery, it was closed. I called that one & another & they had them. Best one uses chocolate sauce in frosting. I almost stopped at bakery yesterday, but if had stopped at Whole Foods & it was warm out & I had cheese in my car. I bought some pastry there too.

183 To be fair, Tangonine, brown the chicken in a lick of shortening, remove, brown the onions until clear and a touch crispy on the edges, remove, then if you want to make sure you have a brown stew instead of a grey stew, you can sprinkle in a bit of white flour on the remaining fat, and as it soaks it up, sprinkle some more until it looks dry and keep stirring it with a spatula until it browns also, (which, I am told by people who care, is not the same as making a rue because I use too much flour and it gets dry while browning). Then add the chicken, onions and other stuff. Browned flour is less sticky than white flour so it won't make a heavy gruel/paste texture like clam chowder.

That browned flour is called a roux, and it is a great and glorious thing.

188 I have a stove in the garage, mainly for the oven, but the top elements get used occ.
450 degrees for bread and pizza tends to heat the house , and turkey is a long time. Just have to be careful carrying stuff back and forth.

Made an eggplant lasagna recently if you didn't know it was in there you would never find out.

189 My knowledge of canning is minuscule, and limited to, "If the can is bulging, don't eat what's inside."

I have a cookbook called "Putting Food By" that tells you more than you'd ever want to know about canning every food known to man.

And of course Amazon has it, in dead tree and Kindle:

190 83 66 Which one of you Morons once described Wrigley Field as "the world's largest gay bar"? Posted by: bebe's boobs destroy at April 26, 2014 05:57 PM (waSQV) I laughed, but don't really know why. Do the Cubs have a higher than average persistency of homosexuals as fans?
