Police Question Piers Morgan "Under Caution" in Phone Hacking Case

The police continue to inquire about his involvement in the British tabloid hacking scandal of 2011.

"Under caution," it seems, is how Brits say "warned of your rights."

Once police have grounds to suspect someone of an offence, the person must be cautioned before being asked any further questions. Unless this is done, the suspect's answers, or silence, cannot be used in court. The interview should take place at a police station unless delay in bringing a suspect there would be damaging. A person cautioned is told: "You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention, when questioned, something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence."

I like that British warning, including the warning that means, basically, "If you have a sound alibi or the like, but don't tell us now, we can mention this at your trial, to suggest you contrived it after-the-fact." We can't do that in the US.

Should you care? I don't know. Piers Morgan is boring to me even when he's being interrogated for criminal invasion of privacy.

My dad said that at one point there were 4 docs and 4 nurses all attending to him at one time, trying to diagnose and treat him. In addition, all of his other doctors have been by to see him. His cardiologist, pulmonologist, nephrologist, general practitionerÂ…they've all been by to check in on him and his treatment.

I find that interesting and can see its potential utility in many cases.

He is 52 & the reason heÂ’s a quadriplegic is because they didnÂ’t catch the infection that was in his cervical spine (neck) until it had time to grow & do more damage. How old is your grandfather? I said prayers for him already. I say them during the day and when I get in my car, etc. A friend of my older brother gave me a medal that one of her cousins got in Italy in 1999 or 2000 & was supposedly blessed by The Pope. I have had it on my rearview mirror since & hold on to it every time I get into my car & say a prayer while holding it.

In my prior unpleasant experience, having too many different doctors in the loop at any given time is a virtually guaranteed recipe for preventable medical error. The professional literature where that issue has been studied says the same.

My dad formerly worked in a hospital as a respiratory therapist. None of us are letting anything slide or go. There were several immediate and obvious possibilities. Those were ruled out positively through testing. In one case, multiple testing. We've had friends and family members who have been lost through mistakes. We're not keen for that to happen again so we tend to be very active and involved.

94 BC - Best wishes to your grandfather..   When I had a bad case of cellulitis last year, I went septic.. terrible chills fever heart racing.  Luckily since I had had cellulitis once before and told the docs, they put me on antibiotics within hours of checking in.

I was in the hospital for 8 days and on IV antibiotics for another 2 weeks at home.  They ended up settling on a very old antibiotic called Clyndomycin

Scary as shit..

I will keep him in my prayers.

122 Just got a further update. They seem to think the infection is located either in his kidneys or his bladder. Until today the biggest problem we were having was massive fluid retention in his lower legs and feet. He was being treated for that at home, but was likely headed back to the hospital tomorrow anyway because he wasn't improving like the nephrologist wanted. They are now becoming concerned about blood clots forming in his legs, so they're going to check for that. I'm not really sure how you do that, but that's the info I'm getting.

I wouldn't want to point fingers but when I was in hospital once some pretty strange charges for things I didn't want/need showed up.

Many people are not aware that there is a listing of recommended practices and that if a hospital or doctor does not follow them (regardless of their efficacy or relevance) they can be in trouble with the licensing board.

This is why medicine these days has become so assembly line one size fits all routine. You have to cause trouble and make noise to get your self heard if your case falls outside the guidelines.

This is down in the weeds medical stuff.  I don't know what to tell you.  I'm a physicist, not an MD.  I've been down this road with my mom, but we actually pushed through it and it was a fight between me and several doctors and nearly came to shootin'.

230 Hey Horde, I'm back. I had just started making dinner for the fam and thought "fuck this. I tired of getting reports second and third hand. I can't just sit here." So I threw on some jeans and the trusty S&W tshirt and was making the 40 minute drive in to the hospital. I was about 1/3 of the way when I got a text from my mom. They gave my grandpa a nice big shot of morphine to help calm him down and because they're going to be running more tests on him. They're almost absolutely certain that he hasn't had a stroke, but they want to make 100% certain. So he's going to be having tests done for a while tonight. Nurse told my dad that grandpa wouldn't be back to the room for roughly 3 hours. I don't care if he was asleep or didn't know me, but if he's not even going to be where I can see him, there's not much point. Dad and I will go into work tomorrow morning to try and square everything up and plan for the next few days and then he'll head over to the hospital and I'll meet up with him over there a little later. All of the thoughts and prayers and well wishes are greatly appreciated.
