— Open Blogger In 1964 Reagan made an impassioned plea for Goldwater. The whole thing is worth listening to, I do a couple of times a year. It's his “A time for choosing” speech.
Listen to it:
If you don't want to spend the time, the essence of it is this:
40 some years later, we're further behind than we ever were. Forgive me while I kill myself.

Reagan's time has passed. You don't like that, but it's true. This is now Choom Boy's time, and the time of all who believe what he believes, and Reagan's vision is as dead as the Passenger Pigeon.
Yes, we could restore that America, but I see no one who has the vision, guts and skill to do it. Instead, I see a bunch of people who give lip service to the values of the real America and keep bringing up a speech that is no longer relevant.
Thank you, Republican "leaders" and conservative "thinkers." Your sellout has made you as effective as the captain of the Titanic.

I was working in Philly, and drove down to D.C for the Lying in State. I remember a car with a handmade sign in the window. "We will never see one of his kind again." I didn't get into the Rotunda until 3 AM. So glad I went.

Anyone who can unearth the actual revised version will have provided the somewhat flagging anti-GOPe movement a burst of renewal.
At this link http://pascalfervor.blogspot.com/2014/02/200-reward-for-verified-copy-82-83.html you will find the best I could do at recreating what I recall Reagan saying so that you know what to look for.
I hope it inspires a large number of you renewed optimism in that Reagan anticipated the Tea Party movement decades before it began.

I had to partially retract that post from th9is morning. The link I had from Drudge went to the NYT and they did not give all of what he said. What it was shot question answer session where at the very end of the session he said he thought Republicans overemphasized voter ID but we did need something to keep dead people from voting.
He did, however, say a lot about allowing felons to vote.

Not allowing felons to vote has been common State law for centuries. The theory behind it was committing serious crimes indicates that the individual was not a good community oriented responsible individual and should not be trusted withe serious responsibility of voting.
Yes, in days past it was considered a serious responsibility and not something to enable free shit.

>>>It is important that we actually (and quickly) absorb that fact, at all levels. Most of my friends accept it, but really just as hyperbole. Most don't think the Left are *actually* of evil intent, just that they are honestly mistaken.
Yes. I used to believe they were mistaken. Too many times I have seen the private comments that prove otherwise. Now, what was once hidden is often revealed openly. Pro abortion activists, for instance, used to obfuscate, muddying the waters of where life begins and claiming no one wants abortion. Now they celebrate it on Mother's Day. What could be more brazen? What could be more twisted?
Many people find it easier to ignore those types of indicators because to realize that you are facing evil is to know that you must oppose it. Furthermore, you have to decide how far you must go to oppose it and if you are willing to pay the price that will come with those lengths.

It's going to get much worse throughout the West before it gets better. This system the left put in place is simply going to collapse under the math. But much will burn.
The left delights in protecting their subjects from the results of their choices. And right now, they are printing money like no tomorrow to delay the inevitable results of all of their bad choices. But actions do have consequences and they won't be able to escape that.

Setting aside the fact of the Democrat congress, Reagan ran deficits in pursuit of the demise of the Soviet Union. Without the spending, and the clearly roaring economy, the Soviets could have held serve on the arms race and the idea of the Strategic Defense Initiative would have held little force.
Reagan took out a loan to buy the end of decades of actual and potential conflict. In doing so he set up the dominant military you see today.
Money well spent.

No, Backwards, I got the logic just right the first time.
Your suggestion/wish that lawyers be categorically excluded from making laws would have excluded from our history... oh ... John Adams and Lincoln.
The real lapse in logic is to suggest, as you did, that someone like Trey Gowdy and Louie Gohmert, lawyers both, be categorically excluded from Congress. (As your applies to Gowdy, it is no doubt one that is presently shared by Lois Lerner and a few hundred Democrats.)

But lawyers writing laws....sounds perfectly reasonable. Posted by: Mr. Moo Moo

I'll fix that for you.
Imagine that cars or dishwashers were only designed by people who ... never used cars or dishwashers.
Put that way, lawyers writing laws....sounds perfectly reasonable.
