— Ace

Oh my stars and garters.

Oh my.

No seriously, Kay Hagan is now writing a Strongly Worded Letter to the Medicare people imploring them to not make the cuts she voted for when she voted for Obamacare.

Thanks to @comradearthur.

64 Hospital reimbursement for the indigent poor has also been slashed. Which is why so many hospitals are closing. They are required by law to treat people who show up, regardless of ability to pay. In the past they were reimbursed by the Feds/State. Via Medicaid, I think. Obamacare cut that on the theory that everybody would be insured, so reimbursing hospitals for treating the uninsured indigent poor would no longer be an issue. Yeah, it's still a fucking issue.

I got called every name in the book, I responded in kind. I'm tired of history proving me right. It wouldn't happen that often if the lefties would f*ing learn something from history.

For anyone who hasn't watched Mark Dice videos, please do.  You're in for a lesson in why we lose.

This guy goes to college campii and gets students to sign petitions for all sorts of things, like putting registered gun owners into FEMA camps.

He does it by saying things like, "This will Help Obama."  Then while they're signing or distracted he goes into his spiel.

That's it.  That's why we lose.  They don't think through or even listen beyond that point.  Help Obama.  Republicans blocked.  They're using shorthand verbal cues instead of critical thinking.

106 For years, people I discuss this stuff with have suggested passing a law requiring a bill to be read in it's entirety in the presence of everyone who will vote on it. If nothing else it would bring new legislation to a standstill and bore some of the seniors in the Senate (like John McCain) to death.

279 but i'm willing to bet if you precluded anyone under the age of 21 from voting, we likely wouldn't have had this stupid jackass we have now.

Obama won everyone under 65, and barely lost them.

280 Sure, we knew it and it was a big campaign issue. But she no doubt thought any spending cuts would be changed later, like the sequester. She had no reason then, and really no reason now to think any federal spensing would be cut in a substantial way. The Medicare cuts won't last.

Men...used to wear garters to keep their socks up.

That was before elastic was invented.

And, Men wore stars on their uniforms.

So I always figured that 'stars and garters' was a reference to two items of sartorial splendor.

302 I distinctly remember, when Obamacare was not yet passed, our betters in the media said that the cuts to Medicare were "smart cuts" that "would make Medicare stronger". I've been trying to find that reference now. Does anyone remember who said that or where? Probably easier to find: many people simply claimed that there were no cuts to Medicare and the claim was just a right-wing lie. Did those people think nobody would ever find out about the cuts? Or did they just trust that the low-information voters would forget they ever said it, and they trust that the MFM would memory hole the claims? I want to see Republicans using this as a crowbar to bash their opponents.

303 shibumi, I get what you're saying, but these are not two little old housebound people. They have lots of friends in our development, the woman was holding down a job; don't know if she still is. Ironically, they support a local hospice. I'm not going to give them a pass on being low information voters because of their age. Posted by: Barb the Evil Genius at February 20, 2014 04:28 PM (yE8uc) Jimmie Kimmel had a guy out on the street posing as a journalist. He was stopping people and telling them that former President Franklin Roosevelt died today and did they wish to say any condolences to his family or the country. He had half a dozen people, including obvious retirerees, begin flowery condolences about what a wonderful President he was and how his family was certainly proud of him. None of them had a clue, they simply parroted back what they had been told. These people, including the Medicare oldsters, cancel my vote. Story on the Blaze, this comment page won't let me link.

304 The left doesn't care about being honest pre-bill-vote. All that matters is getting their golden legislation passed, they believe they can deal with any fallout from it by blaming Republicans who will blame conservatives.

305 From comment #81 " ... For years, people I discuss this stuff with have suggested passing a law requiring a bill to be read in it's entirety in the presence of everyone who will vote on it. That alone would eliminate much bad legislation. Posted by: D-Lamp at February 20, 2014 04:16 PM (bb5+k) " = = = = = = = = The OTHER part of the new law regarding "Read the Bill- or Else!" should be that --if it's demonstrated that a Congressman DID vote to pass a bill which he had not read-- that shall be taken as evidence of dereliction of duty, failure to uphold his oath of office, and betrayal of his constituents' interests AND AS SUCH, IT SHALL BE A CAPITAL OFFENSE. After three or four public executions under this new law, our "dedicated public servants" will viscerally understand that their *duty* is to the people who elected them - not to their Party-Establishment Hacks (who troll for more-and-bigger contributions from Big Pharma/ Big Unions/ Big Media/ Big Banks/ Big Education/ etc/ by hinting that "our team understands your position and your problems; once we get the proper people in place we can push some FAVORABLE LEGISLATION through on your behalf...")

306 Nobody wants to deal with the fact that they were gullible fools for buying into Obamacare. I just shrug and tell them they were lied to. Obama lied, the politicians lied, and the media didn't ask any hard questions. That they can understand. They may not realize they are idiots, but they sure get resentful when they think they have been lied to.
