— Ace Remember this guy? He skipped out of work constantly, and, at one point, collected a steady paycheck despite not showing up for work for a year and a half.
Between 2000 and 2012, Beale skipped work for at least 616 days. But his fraud wasnÂ’t discovered until last year when it was found out that he was still getting paid for a year and a half but hadnÂ’t shown up for work in that whole time. Under McCarthy, Beale missed at least 18 consecutive months of work, costing taxpayers more than $239,000.
He covered his absences by claiming he was working for top men in the CIA.
Who?
Top. Men.
But despite his chronic absenteeism, he did manage to do Big Things when he troubled himself to show up at work.
A report by Senate Republicans contends that the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulatory “playbook” was written by known agency fraudster John Beale, who put into place major air quality regulations that set the stage for “the exponential growth of the agency’s power over the American economy.”...
“This report will reveal that within the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), some officials making critically important policy decisions were not remotely qualified, anything but neutral, and in at least one case — EPA decision making was delegated to a now convicted felon and con artist, John Beale,” wrote Republicans on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
...
“Together, Brenner and Beale implemented a plan, which this report refers to as ‘EPA’s Playbook,’” the senators continued. “The Playbook includes several tools first employed in the 1997 process, including sue-and-settle arrangements with a friendly outside group, manipulation of science, incomplete cost-benefit analysis reviews, heavy-handed management of interagency review processes, and capitalizing on information asymmetry, reinforced by resistance to transparency. Ultimately, the guiding principal behind the Playbook is the Machiavellian principal that the ends will justify the means.”
By the way, Beale got his job through a friend.
It's nice and friendly to have nice and friendly friends working nicely in the government.

"By the way, Beale got his job through a friend."
Beale was hired in 1988 by Robert Brenner, the former deputy director of the Office of Policy Analysis, and Review within the EPAÂ’s Office of Air and Radiation. Brenner was also a close friend with Beale and gave him the lead role of crafting major air-quality regulations in 1995, including the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for Ozone and Particulate Matter.
From 1988 to 2011, Brenner was Director of the Office of Policy Analysis and Review, at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Both President George H.W. Bush in 1993 and President Clinton in 1998 conferred on Rob the rank of meritorious senior executive. In 2003, he received the Distinguished Executive Award for “sustained extraordinary accomplishment” from President George W. Bush.

And the chances he'd ever get into trouble, for either end of this career?
Shirley, you must be joking.
I knew a state EPA guy once. Nicest guy you'd want to meet. Referred to tire-burners as "some of our bad actors." And when he'd go through case details, he'd say incredible Eagle Scout stuff like "Now, we can't be unfair about this, but..."
And there's a hundred or so schlubs like that in cubicles on the same floor with this guy, just folks who wanted to do a little good, who were on to him from the first, and now with ten years to go until retirement just realized for the first time that they really are The Enemy.
Rather than turn them, we'll squeal all night about how many pieces we want their guts cut into. And, being impotent, and mostly employed by rent-seekers who are in the game, we will fail at even getting that one single fraudster's expense account audited. That piss you off? Just watch the subcommittee hearings.

Matters have gone so far that what is needed now are officeholders from the right who are willing and able to stand up each day, every day, to openly question and viciously mock the key premises of the Leviathan state. At every appearance.
No one thinks it's unusual when leftists like Obama stand up and give 45-minute speeches praising Big Government and asking the audience to support its continued expansion. So why is it considered radical and verboten for conservative officeholders to make the same sort of forceful consistent argument in the other direction?

In fairness to Nixon, the country did need some federal environmental oversight.
It's just that successive administrations have either passively allowed or actively encouraged the EPA to grow cancerously. And to arrogate huge decision-making power to itself, rather than limiting itself to enforcing policies and laws set by Congress.
As for Bush the Lesser (distinct from his son Bush the Lesser Still), retch gag. Most especially the ADA.
I am still ashamed to this day about having voted Republican in 1988. I had no idea how aggressively the Bush family intended to flush the Reagan legacy down the toilet, but boy howdy, they got going on that project from day one, hour one.

Should have just voted for the Massachusetts midget in the Snoopy helmet. At least that way, the flood tide of liberal nonsense policies would have been explicable.

Deci - mat -> To take one in ten.
Penti - mat -> To take one in five.
Bi - mat -> To take one in two.
So bimate would be to take one in two.
Semimate would be to take half.

Dealer: The bet is to you, Mr. President.
Obama: Thanks, uh, Vlad, um, do you have any 3s?
Putin (looks at hole cards): Nyet. All in.
Obama: Say, um, ah, Vlad, eh, Mr. Putin, could you not splash the pot? And, uh, since this is a, um, friendly game? I call.
Putin: I will splash the pot whenever the f*ck I want! (shows cards) I have full house, aces over nines. You have 2 pair, nines and 3s. I will take Ukraine now, and you can keep those ABMs up your @ss!
Obama: Say, um, that's, uh, disrespectful. You, um, can't have any of my pretzels, um, next week when the game is at my place.

Preface: I'm no expert on the ADA, at all.
Isn't the real problem with the ADA their vague "reasonable man" standard legal beagles are in love with?
Leftist judges have been expanding the ADA by interpreting reasonable accommodation for the disabled so it costs businesses more and more as the law ages.

All the measure of corruption show that America has grown much more corrupt in recent years and decades.
This was predictable and was predicted. Ethnic diversity has many positive things, but it reliable increases corruption. So does socialism.
As government control of the American economy has risen, so has corruption. And as Diversity (also known as Not Having Things In Common With Each Other) has increased, so has corruption.
Posted by: Flatbush Joe at March 20, 2014 04:51 PM (ZPrif)
I can never get this sort of thing to format right. Sigh. Anyway, some of what Joe says here is true, some not. As for "Ethnic diversity" having "many positive things...um, no. Not really.
I'm old enough now to have been in the workplace/business world for over 40 years. Been through all this "diversity" crap; worked with people of every race, creed color and hat size. All it has done is give the usual suspects on the Left the power to continue corrupt and break down the American culture, which is what they had in mind all along.
Actually, when people say "ethnic", they usually mean "race". Race is irrelevant. What matters is the culture the person or group comes from. And I can tell you that pretty much regardless of what culture this or that person came from, it really does not make much difference where the rubber meets the road. Been there, seen that. Although yes, the level of corruption and "gaming the system" has increased a LOT over the past 40 years, and this enforced "diversity" has had a lot to do with it.

Chris Rock is unfortunately an Obamabot (given his niche in the entertainment industry, if he did not publicly back Obama, he'd never get work again), but he has at times in the past said some stuff in his gig that still has to hit uncomfortably close to home for Obama.
CR said from the stage that some black people make a point of boasting about how on the ball they are, simply for doing ordinary things that people who aren't black just assume is stuff you do without comment.
::: proud pose ::: "I take care of my kids."
"You're SUPPOSED TO take care of your kids!"
In Obama's case, there's this nonsense with the ordinary duties and events of the Presidency being made over by the administration flacks (and the fan club masquerading as a press corps) into a string of Historic Firsts and Urgent Breaking News. No, these things are not actually super-amazing accomplishments to be reported as breathtaking triumphs. They're the job, that's all.
"This just in. The President has for the first time ever used the john in his cabin at Camp David to take a dump. For more on these exciting new developments, let's go to Shep Smith."

Eh? The survival of the most adaptable means one has to act immorally to survive? Generations of Christians getting along just fine doesn't seem to bear that out. In fact, the more a society adopts Christian virtues, the better that society seems to thrive.

The ADA started out as being 'optional' for the most part.
Businesses could take tax deductions for those Parking Slots that they established.
Same with all the other expensive modifications to their locations...such as wheelchair access.
But then, yeah...through the courts...the disabled became a new 'protected class'.

I don't know. Usually there's a prelude of things to come in the Feb-March timeframe in the deep south states. So far this year it's been a big flat zero.
We'll see, I guess.

their sneakers? and cleanliness of socks? they own their own washing machine and drier, perhaps in their own Home, that they had to drive miles from in their paid for but nice car, which meant they have enough for inssurance.

Old crowd at my gym. There are a lot of 70s and 75s.
The old men insist on walking around the locker room butt naked talking about whatever and drying their old streched out nuts with the community hair dryer while putting their feet on the couter to do so. WTF. Old people don't give a shit

Not only was Beale getting paid and not showing up - they discovered that his pay was above the rate that he was hired on for. Sweet Jesus.
OT: The reporter that said that Carney was fed questions prior to press briefings has now recanted her story and said that it isn't true. It didn't take the WH too long to contact CBS and have her recant. Don't worry dearheart, no one in the MFM will ask you why you would lie in the first place. We all know you didn't.

If you leave a church, just leave, don't get all bitterly obsessive about it, dude. Not good for the soul.

Are you the same guy I used to chat with on Free Republic?
If so, kind regards. I am "moving on with my life" after losing Miss Emily, my wife of 25 years. Yeah, it hurts like a Son of a Bitch, and I am poor, and old. But I have my Border Collie beside me, who loves me with his whole heart. Got my one & only tattoo I designed back when I rode choppers. I wish life had turned out differently, but I'm OK.

SEAL Fit?
When I did CrossFit there was a real-life Navy SEAL that used to come in sometimes. Walking on the street you probably wouldn't look at him twice. He was 5'11" or so, had sort of a bulky runner's body. But holy smokes he could do the workouts without breaking a sweat. He'd just bounce around, do everything 10% harder than anyone else in there, and walk out fresh.

About everything you need to know about the EPA you can find in C.J. Box's novels, where a strong subtext is always how the federal government oppresses average people in Wyoming with its fascistic bureaucracy. Invariably in the novels we meet a fed bureaucrat for the EPA who is solely in it for the pension, and for how he can work the system to get the most perks.
