The Administration's Claims That IRS & Other Government Scrutiny of Tea Party Activists Is Coincidental Is Simply Not Plausible
— Ace

Also testifying
was one of [Cleta] MitchellÂ’s clients, Catherine Engelbrecht, owner of a small Texas manufacturing firm who organized two non-profits, one of them True the Vote.

In running a business for two decades, she had never been investigated by the federal government. But since the beginning of her political activism in 2010, “my private business, my nonprofit organizations, and family have been subjected to more than 15 instances of audit or inquiry by federal agencies.” Those include the IRS, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol and Firearms, and the FBI.

I guess the administration wants us to believe that is all coincidence.

...

Conservatives are outraged that the mainstream media and many civil rights groups swallow hook, line and sinker the White House position that the IRS is a “phony scandal.”

It is unimaginable that IRS special scrutiny of liberal groups during a Republican administration would be written off as bureaucratic bungling.

To many conservatives, Obama’s assertion of “not even a smidgen of corruption” sounds a lot like another White House’s claim that Watergate was “a third-rate burglary.”

No really, this is scary shit and the stuff which leads to the death of Republics if continued without a check from the legislative and judicial branches. That any executive could so openly, and with the media's blessing, flaunt the balance of powers and exceed their authority unchecked is the stuff of nightmares. We are witnessing the most lawless president since Wilson and FDR.

64 Republicans advocate smaller government, offer plans to reduce the bureaucracy. The bureaucracy does not like the sound of this. They react. They attack. In any way they can. The IRS is a bureaucracy, no one needed to give an order, only a wink and a nod. Or maybe a plea. "Will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?" So it has been so it will be.

If the Republican Party actually had the stomach for a fight, and if it had the least degree of pride and self-respect, than every single federal officeholder in the GOP would be asking, in every single interview and appearance, this question:

"In 1974, Democrats in Congress issued articles of impeachment against Richard Nixon. Among those articles was one alleging that Nixon had used the IRS against political opponents. This was not a proven fact. There had been no formal investigation, no due process. Merely an allegation. But, Democrats said, the allegation alone was so serious that it sufficed for impeachment of the President. So why does the absolutely identical allegation today against Obama not warrant the absolutely identical response? Issuance of an article of impeachment."

You, Sven? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the Constitution and you curse the Tea Party. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that not casting a vote out of principal, while tragic, probably saved cushy political lives. And my existence, while grotesque and very, very orange to you, saves political lives. You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about on message boards, you know I'll put you against that wall. I need you against that wall. We use words like electability, deniability, and funding ... we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending our ass. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the misguided notion that his freedom isn't something that I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Seriously. Otherwise, I suggest you tear up your voter ID and stand the fuck back. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you voted for !

138 Conservatives need to realize that the Left declared all-out war on us after the 2000 elections. And given that reality, we Conservatives need to purify the GOP or destroy it with a third party. And THEN we need to adopt the tactics of the enemy.

Specifically: LIE our asses off about our true motives as we stealthily engage in verbal engineering, never ending bait and switch policies, a complete hijacking of public education, an iron-fist taxation and over-regulation of the entertainment industry (until they're either driven into bankruptcy or to suicide by drug-overdose) and an array of overly sentimental appeals towards our own cynically contrived paradigms of "victimization".

Regardless of your belief system, I can tell you that the universe will not be kind to him once he's dead.  And he will die, we all do.  I actually feel sorry for him.

He wasted his life.

I actually do forgive him for all the things he's done.  He'll answer to the Creator who provided trillions of galaxies and ensured that every electron in the entire universe has a mass of 9.10938291 × 10-31 kilograms.

“Never once?”

“After you filed the [tax-exempt application for King Street Patriots], OSHA visited then, right?”

“Yes sir.”

“In the first 20 years of business did the [Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives] ever come to your business?” Jordan continued.

“No sir.”

“And they came a couple times once you filed your application?”

“Yes sir.”

“And in your first 20 years of business, did the IRS ever audit you?”

“But once you filed your application, they audited you?”

“Many times.”

“And in your first 20 years of business, did the FBI ever visit you?”

“No sir.”

“But once you filed your application, did they visit you?”

“Six times.”

Jordan made his final point: “Mr. Connolly wants us to believes that’s all a coincidence.”

190 GOPs Try to Block IRS Rule That Threatens to Shut Down Conservative 501(c)(4)s Rule could go into effect as soon as the end of the month despite a record 23,000 public comments the agency needs to process. WASHINGTON — Thirty-nine Republican senators introduced a bill today to block the Internal Revenue Service from issuing a rule that would narrow the definition of who qualifies for a 501(c)(4) exemption as a social welfare organization. The Stop Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act, which also passed out of a House committee, would freeze the finalization of the rule for one year and restore the 501(c)(4) standards and definitions that were in place before conservative groups started to come under extra scrutiny in 2010. ... “So let’s call this rule what it is – an attempt to silence the voices of conservative organizations.” Co-sponsors of the bill, introduced by Flake and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kansas), include Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), and Republican Conference Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.). pjmedia.com

Kinda in the same boat.  I keep a decent amount of 22 on hand for plinking, but haven't bought bricks in like 10 years (I loaded up early).  That's a bit high.

Back in the day I was out $0.50/rd for .223 or close for .308 (as hick states, that's essentially 7.62x39, depending on the rifle).

Last bulk purchase I had was 1K of .40 and it was around $0.50/rd so...

Glen, Brandon and I and John Mann turned this pile of crap:

Into that book.  Glen was a fantastic guy.  I only knew him for about 6 months while we worked on the book, and Brandon and I have parted ways since (Brandon was Glen's best friend), but I'll tell you this:

I want someone's ass for Benghazi.  I want a fucking head on a pike.  They stole from me a great friend and a great guy.  And I'm pissed, and will remain so until heads + pikes.

Glen wrote the bulk of his contributions to NSS on the back of cardboard boxes and sent them back to the states while he was ass deep in ass, rain, shit and cold.

I don't forget.

They depend on amnesia. They depend on the 47% or more of Americans who don't pay attention or even know who the hell the Vice President is. Even if the media were not biased a percentage of the 47% don't pay attention.

I have no answers. Will fight. Will vote. Will not go down easily. If we can't win this year I am thinking there is no going back. Keep in mind, with the news cycle, what is important for any type of vote change will happen in October (surprises and all)...as on top of amnesia the Dems also count heavily on short attention spans. xoxo

276 That I'd agree with. Posted by: mugiwara at February 11, 2014 10:30 PM (3a584) Cool. When the budget is passed each year, the deficit spending required to service that budget is approved by congress and added to the current debt. The sum is again the "debt ceiling". Pass a budget every year, the fight is over the details of the budget, not the accounting number at the end. The debt ceiling is never an issue other than as a general talking point of amount of debt. Subvert the constitution by using continuing resolutions for spending, and each resolution can only approve spending for the short period the resolution is in effect. And the debt ceiling gets reached every time a resolution ends, just like every time a fiscal year ends. No avoiding it. amirite?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that even in normal budgeting times, the debt ceiling increase is an issue typically unrelated to the budget process. Though I do think an accounting of expected deficits with a linked debt ceiling hike if needed would be good budget legislation practice in general.
