Happy Friday.

Ruh roh. Most uninsured folks are unaware of Obamacare.

DOD report says Edward Snowden stole 1.7 million intelligence files. Sen. Paul, no doubt, continues to think an amnesty is appropriate for the traitor.

Google is still attaching the annoying Google+ to its other products in the hope that it can force people to use the superfluous social network. Gmail users will want to read this on how to opt out of the latest lame scheme.

And, finally, for the early birds, Andy will have a podcast post later, but if ya'll want to get an early start, this week's podcast is posted and available. Speaking of Commie DeBlasio, it remains to be seen exactly how much damage he can actually do to NYC, since most of his ideas would have to be voted on by the State government and the US Congress. The civil rights act is not designed to do that kind of thing.  What it is designed to do is punish white people who the feds think were mean to blacks and were not adequately punished by the State.

The only thing the corrupt Obamanites can do is "ask" the State to let him go.  The State can tell them to piss up a rope.

The thing is this worm was supposed to have been executed years ago.  But the professional race baiters all started crying and joined forces with the professional death penalty haters who all whined about his trial.

The State rather than go through another multi-million dollar trial commuted the death penalty to life w/o parole.

I don't agree that was the original intent.  There were real abuses from the end of the Civil War and into the 1960s.

However, I DO agree that is how the law works in practice, and how it has been working since at least 1968.  I also believe Holder's DoJ thinks the original intent of the law is to punish white people.

However, I DO agree that is how the law works in practice, and how it has been working since at least 1968. I also believe Holder's DoJ thinks the original intent of the law is to punish white people.

Well "yeah" of course what is in play here is the mainstreaming through immersion to the kids of the nation that disparate treatment under law is the baseline norm and not proof of a lack of equality.  He's hoping he gets sued and navigates the case law to be a precedential first seeding of the idea that punishment is a collective rather than an individual quantity.  Rather nefarious actually it would not surprise me in the least if in the donkey long game they are trying to obliterate judicial impartiality overtly finally.

It's a lot more important to be worried about Snowden than Lerfner, a weaponized IRS, and an NSA with the potential to destroy anyone who has the wrong views.

Snowden could do a LOT of damage to US Interests Like:

1)lose stability in Iraq through abandoning the AO
2)empower a nuclear Iran and try to mainstream the notin of relations
3)topple a relatively stable Libya and Egypt and empower radical Islam in both
4)slash the defense budget while verbally saber rattling in a regional cold war between 2 military allies and China
5)destroy patient privacy through Obamacare

You know "damage?"

What you have pointed out is the original poster's perspective distortion; to his mind, being a traitor to a Marxist government is far more egregious than having a Marxist government - which is made up of traitors - in the first place.

If a person holds a quarter close to the face and examines it intensely and passionately it looks bigger than the moon to them. Everyone else can see how dumb that person is when he announces that the quarter is larger than the moon - but he doesn't understand how the others can say that - since the 'truth' is easy for him to see.

Heather the prevailing attitude is "I PAY TAXES FOR THESE SCHOOLS THAT I HAVE TO WORK FOR" it is the illusion of ownership democrats have made a cornerstone of the modern state.

You are allowed to have "ownership" when the system fails you emotionally so you are led to think you need it, BUT you do not have any ownership so far as oversight of the mores and values the school teaches.

Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment are the same way.

In stress people embrace them, but there are a LOT of people who understand on a purely intellectual level these are con games.  Ego and a longing for justice for the taxes and defacto graft of the system create distortion and a sort of cognitive dissonance for values and reason.  It is why I have embraced "to the MOON" for the Libertine left and rights' hedonistic "FREEDOOOOOMM" impulses for intoxicants.

159 A little anecdote for you.  My sister is a manager with Jackson Hewitt down in Mississippi just across the state line with New Orleans.  I was asking her a tax question the other day and during the conversation she remarked about their having to discuss Obamacare (signing up for it, penalties if you don't, etc.) with their customers.  She said there were two responses. One, they already had employer-provided health care and were not interested and, two, they didn't have health care and were not interested.  The latter group's disinterest remained steadfast despite her warnings of increasing penalties, she said, and most wouldn't even take the pamphlet she offered.

Understand, she said, that these are the kind of people who voted for Obama and who Obamacare was allegedly designed for - mostly low income blue collar workers. They don't make a lot of money and what money they do make they do not want to spend on health care.

Now what's going to happen is those penalties are going to kick in and they are going to be pissed.  And even those who do have coverage now through their - mostly small businesses - employers are going to be in for a shock when it disappears and they are going to be pissed.

With a little luck they'll be pissed before the mid-terms but they are sure to be pissed before 2016.

None of this is news I guess, but it's pure joy to hear about it in play first hand . . .

The less foaming-at-the-mouth response here is to think about what "1.7 million intelligence files" actually means. In all likelihood it's a stupid stat of gross tonnage mined versus actual valuable mineral obtained because of the grab-everything nature of Snowden's strip-mining operation. On the other hand, if these were 1.7 million true treasures, one ought wonder why so many files to begin with and why Snowden was able to make off with them.

Scans show a huge mass at her heart that is either blocking the flow into her heart, or out, depending on her body position. She went into surgery a few minutes ago. Best case scenario is that it's a benign tumor that they can remove easily. Worst case, it's a huge blood clot that breaks up when they try to remove it, likely killing her. All this is totally out of the blue, no warning signs.

I will also point out that the media is aware of their hypocrisy and hoping people don't notice. How do I know this? They way they're framing the question. Asking, "What did the Governor know and when did he know it" would sound too much like Watergate. Watergate -> Presidential Scandal -> IRS/F&F So, instead, they say this, "who knew what and when?" That's all he gets.

An elected Christie will destroy the conservative movement in the United States for a generation and it is a generation we do not have.

His flaw is he is Obama ethically in a Madea suit and no matter how much better and swift his punishment of his malefactors it does not change how petty and small an environment he fosters.

He'll push gun control, AGW Kult sacrifices, raise taxes, happily with the democrats and MSM colluding to destroy the GOP if they don't cave.

He can have my silence, but he'll never have my vote.

286 Not as if any of you give a rat fuck about my opinion, but I suspect it's relevant. I'm a former Counterintelligence Agent--you know, a person whose duties are to prevent the exposure of national secrets--and given how many people have that job I feel confident in assuming that I'm the only such person here.

Some context: I approve of the Obama administration crackdown on journalists for publishing classified information. That crap has done serious damage to our national security over the decades, including spilling the details of the Manhattan Project. I think that people who shop journalists to spill secrets for political purposes belong in prison, where I'd have been if I did the same thing.

And even *I* get sick of hearing about the 'Snowden = Traitorous bastard' garbage. This is not a Manning-style passive aggressive prank that dumped every generic Secret document in reach onto the Internet. This is not an Ames-style betrayal to a foreign enemy for money. It was a targeted, principled action that revealed some honest to God disturbing truths about NSA activities, Against Americans. That they lied to Congress about. Repeatedly. For years. And intensified.

If violations of the law by the executive are classified by the executive and subject to enforcement only by the executive and hidden from other branches of government, THERE IS NO CHECK ON THEM. Do any of you expect Eric fucking Holder to do anything about it?

Whether or not he violated a statute, Snowden delivered very important matters into the public sphere and made it clear to Congress and the Courts just how much has been deliberately hidden from them. Accountability for secret activities *against Americans* is necessary for anything even remotely approaching a free republic to exist.

And re: the "he stole X million documents" angle. He did. And he has not released them all. So far, they exist as insurance to keep President McDroneHappy--who has a record of assassinating American citizens, if you recall--from killing him.

But my ultimate point is that if someone like me, who a national security hawk who still thinks gunboat diplomacy has a place in the world and whose career was directly relevant to this topic, thinks Snowden is more than a villain, then maybe those others of you (looking at you, Gabriel) who don't should revisit the topic.

Posted by: dawnfire82 at January 10, 2014 09:29 AM (1/hzQ)

287 But the media likes to claim that it just exposes wrongdoing by the government too. I say, don't give anybody immunity. Weigh each theft or hack for harm. (By which standard, Fox's Rosen deserves a heavy slap for attacking our policy in Korea-- a policy of peace.) "And re: the "he stole X million documents" angle. He did. And he has not released them all. So far, they exist as insurance to keep President McDroneHappy--who has a record of assassinating American citizens, if you recall--from killing him." There's still the problem that China let him go and Russia lets him stay. IF he shared his stash with them, they may agree to keep it quiet for their own reasons.

Posted by: Chris_Balsz at January 10, 2014 11:58 AM (5xmd7)

288 Conversely, he may have given away nothing, and the Chinese and Russians are making us turn our security apparat inside out, and rendering him a Man Without A Country who may one day buy permanent refuge.
