Hey, Anna - you might have missed it, but I mentioned yesterday that I woke up at 3.00am yesterday morning with a "Holy crap, that's IT!" idea to finish the book. Of course, it's a twist so cliched even Stan Lee would blush, but it'll work. If I can plant my fat ass in the chair for two solid hours on Saturday. . .
First draft will be done.

OT, as much as a question on the morning thread can be OT....
I need someone for a perspective check. Anyone seen that Disney (puke) movie Frozen? I was dragged to see it with my kids. When asked whether I liked it or not, I had to say I hated it immensely. It seemed like a gay movie to me, with proseletyzing subtext and that annoying fucking snowman prancing around.
I have lots of other reasons for hating it, from the settings that make no fucking sense to the evil character suddenly turning evil for no other reason than to provide a plot twist to just stupid stupid plots. But I'm being told that I'm paranoid because this movie looked like a Glee production to me.
Anyone else seen it and can let me know if I'm way off base?

So I'm listening to Stern on the way into work and he's got Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein in for an interview. He tells Howard he's going to direct a movie about a Jewish ghetto where the Jews had an uprising. Howard says, "oh, a holocaust movie." Weinstein says, "no, I like to think of it more as 'Jews with guns.'" Howard asked him if he's a gun owner and to which he quickly replied absolutely not, he in fact thinks nobody should have guns. Of course, if he were ever marched into the camps, well then he'd find a gun or something. What a twit!
He goes on to say he's working on a film with Meryl Streep about the NRA that will blow the doors off that organization. Or in other words, he's making a horrible propaganda film that will be seen by half a dozen people, but win twice as many Oscars.
He also said he loves everybody except for conservative Republicans. I don't go to many movies, but he absolutely convinced me that the few I do see will not include any with his name in the credits.

That would be the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. It's one of the things I like to mention to anti-gun nitwits who wonder what good a gun will do against an army with tanks, rockets, etc.
The Jews held off the fucking Nazi extermination machine.

Here is a comment from Richard Fisher, of the Dallas Fed:
"The 12 Federal Reserve Banks house the excess reserves of the depository institutions of America: If loan demand fails to grow at the same rate as banks accumulate reserves due to our hyperaccommodative monetary policy, the resultant excess reserves are deposited with us at a rate of return of 25 basis points (1/4 of 1 percent per annum).
Here is some math confronting policymakers: Excess reserves are currently 65 percent of the monetary base and rising. The only other time excess reserves as a percentage of the base have come anywhere close to this level was at the close of the 1930s, when the ratio hit 41 percent. We are in uncharted territory."
What this means is that we are in a deflationary spiral 50% worse than the great depression, and if by some chance we begin to see actual growth, we are in for inflation that would make the seventies look good.

tsrblke, if they were trying to destroy the economy, what would they do differently?
On the other hand, it tells me that the powers that be will do whatever it takes to keep interest rates down in perpetuity, and based on history, the democrats will do whatever it takes to keep the economy from recovering, as it improves their electoral chances.

Hi there, keeping cool with a nice glass of wine - and the fan on as I detest the air conditioning - plus being clothesless ( almost) helps!

You really need to email Fr. Pacholczyk at NCBC - or even look at USCCB.
You ain't gonna find jobs out there.

I like that so much I think it will be my new barroom question: "If the Democrats were trying to destroy the country - what would they be doing differently?"
Somebody ought to ask Obama if he has a five year plan for the country in the works yet.

Must've been the early Simpsons when they were funny, but I don't recall the line.
It was a "Treehouse of Horror" episode where Lisa and Bart were mutated into superheroes and, while Comic Book Guy was preparing to kill them, he was distracted by Xena, Warrior Princess telling him "Xena needs. . .xex!"
The show jumped the shark years ago. I haven't watched a new episode since at least 2009.
