Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, January 16, 2014. On this sad day in 1919 the United States ratified the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, authorizing Prohibition in the United States one year later. This was one of the biggest mistakes ever made in amendments to the Constitution. Mainly because it was diametrically opposed to everything else in the Constitution. It reflected the times which were in place at the beginning of progressivism and the collapse of freedom in the US due to same.

Johnny Boehner has gotten his marching orders from Top Men and Karl Wasserman Rove: "Don't make any fucking waves on anything and we'll let 404Care infuriate everybody and the party runs as the do-nothing party. Except amnesty; we'll accommodate the Chamber of Crony Capitalists by green lighting that sweet sweet amnesty so they'll keep giving us money. We won't win elections and, even if we do we'll spend so much fucking money you won't be able to detect a difference, but we'll keep our places at the trough."

I fully expected between $150 and $200 for my two drugs since I have a new year and $5000 deductible. I was told that I had read my plan in error. When using generics (which I have been doing for years) there is no deductible and no copay.
My cost was ZERO! I am holding my breath to see if I get a call saying this was in error.

I think this means the government is done processing new claims for older Veterans. It's all about the "kids" coming home screwed up from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The article I linked to previously (yesterday?) said they had a backlog of over 400,000 cases to process. They said the process was slow because of the myriad of different ways the applications were submitted.
My first thought was hey, transfer ALL of Mooch's staff which she shouldn't have to begin with over to the VA and train them to process the applications.

Over the weekend I caught part of a documentary about the Japanese using British POWs to build the Burma railroad in WWII. They were interviewing a Brit professor whose father was one of the POWs and they asked him if he had any animosity towards the Japanese for how they treated his father. The guy said simply "No, I don't harbor any animosity towards today's Japanese for what happened during the war. That generation of Japanese are long gone- that was then and this is now".
How refreshing...
Then again there's no money to be had in "guilting" the Japanese over WWII.

61: "I want a la carte TV choice. It's long past time for the viewers to be able to vote with their dollars. But Big Bird, I know."
I think the only way to get this is to find content providers that aren't owned or distributed by Viacom.
I read a cnet article a while back that said Viacom would not allow their bundled content to be severed by the satelite and cable companies.
If they allowed a la carte, they wouldn't be able to get any money out of all those shopping channels. Of course they claim that they keep the bundle requirement in order to support necessary channels that may not be quite as popular.
For the good of the people of course. Corporate welfare instead of public welfare.

My mother and her family survived Hitler. Although she treated people on an individual basis and never harbored a bigoted bone in her body, she never forgave the Germans. And as is evidenced by the attitude of European youth born way after 1933-45, she was sadly correct. Anti-semitism is alive and well in Europe and as virulent as it ever was.

I would submit that in both those cases your relatives' feelings were wholly justified- after all they were direct victims of violence and injustice.
I found it "refreshing" to see that this person was able to set aside animosity after being only one generation removed from it, especially considering that some in this country seem to be unable to move on after being five generations removed from slavery.
Then again there is little incentive for them to move on since not doing so is so lucrative.

This is yet more evidence of the collapse of law in this country. It will not be long before vigilantes return. It it will not be pretty.
But when you have a President and his chief law enforcement officer setting the tone by thumbing their nose at the law it shows where we are headed.

Good news, every Juan!:
Immigrants facing deportation are increasingly likely to have their cases dismissed because of mitigating factors such as having U.S. citizen children, according to an analysis by researchers at Syracuse University.
In fiscal year 2013, 8.5% of cases closed in immigration court listed “prosecutorial discretion” as the reason for dismissal, compared with 4.7% the previous year. In some courts, at least 20% of case closures involved prosecutorial discretion. Of the roughly 35,000 cases closed in Los Angeles over the last two years, nearly 24% were prosecutorial discretion cases. The tallies do not include cases closed in earlier stages, before reaching the courts.

Meanwhile, our friend Mr. Policeman gets to blast away with impunity:
A Torrance police officer who mistakenly shot at a man during the massive manhunt for ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner will not face criminal charges, prosecutors said Wednesday. The Los Angeles County district attorneyÂ’s office declined to press charges against Officer Brian McGee, who opened fire at close-range last February on an innocent driver.
In a 16-page report explaining its decision, the district attorney’s office said McGee made a “reasonable mistake of fact” and the officer was “acting under an actual belief” that he needed to defend himself.
David Perdue, who was 38 at the time, was driving to pick up a friend and go surfing that morning when he was stopped by Torrance police and told to turn around. He'd driven less than 300 feet when another Torrance police unit mistook Perdue, who is a slight white man and was driving a Honda Highlander, for Dorner, who was black and described as driving a Nissan Titan.
After turning around, PerdueÂ’s truck was broadsided by another Torrance police cruiser, driven by McGee. The officer then shot at least three rounds at close-range into the PerdueÂ’s driver side window.

Yes, my wording there could have been better (need moar coffee)- perhaps "...they suffered violence and injustice..." would have been more accurate.
But my main point is that some people have been able to let go of their animosity after being only one generation removed from the violence and injustice while others have not been able to do so after five generations- and I suspect that money plays a large role in that inability.

Now, I'm not talking about high value targets in DC, I figure some of you who live closer to there will need to be busy, but rest assured, some of us out here in the hinterlands will be doing our part to eliminate the problems that would otherwise keep the new revolution from succeeding.

New food safety law means California bartenders have to wear gloves
A new amendment to California food safety law bans bare-handed food contact in restaurants. ItÂ’s a regulation that has received the scorn of chefs and diners alike.
This week, the Los Angeles Times smartly points to another area affected by the new law: bars. Since “food employees shall not contact exposed, ready-to-eat food with their bare hands,” bartenders must wear gloves or use tweezers or other utensils when touching ice, garnishes or similar ingredients that go directly in the drink

1. Honda doesn't make the Highlander, Toyota does, so in an article that is implying the officers got the make and model wrong, so did the writer of this article.
2. The guy wasn't shot! So what does it have to do with officers discharging their weapons? Nothing. The guy was "allegedly" injured by the police using an assault vehicle.... are Torrance police vehicles black?
and 3. If you are police participating in a manhunt, and a vehicle makes a sudden turnaround, moving in a suspiciously erratic way, that's a bad thing to be doing in front of police who are instructed that they are hunting for a cop-killer. Was it a mistake? Obviously, but this isn't about the cop thinking the "slight white guy" was a big burly black guy. It was a surfer dude, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mistakes happen.

You can accept the plaintiff's attorneys accounts of what happened, or you could use some common sense and try to imagine what the scene looked like.
Yes, one cop told him to turn around, while another cop, who had no idea he had been instructed to turn around, sees a vehicle erratically driving AWAY from the dragnet.
Bad communication, poor tactics on the part of the police (who were probably from multiple jurisdictions, so they might not even be communicating with each other), and probably an overzealous cop who may very well have felt threatened. With a cop killer on the loose.
Yes, it was a mistake, but again, this was a car accident. The guy is claiming injury from a car accident. The city probably should pay his medical bills, but this is hardly a case of rogue cops shooting innocent citizens because all cops are gun-happy thugs.

Is it a regular feature of car accidents in Torrance to have one driver shoot three rounds into the other car?
I don't view that as poor tactics. I view that as attempted manslaughter at the very least.

So what do we have in the end?
DIABLO = Democrat with an "R"
Democrat = Commie with a "D"
Therefore using the laws of math
DIABLO = a Republican Commie

That only started to change around 2007. I retired in 2006 and I was on my own with the VA...and they told me so at TAP. Took me a year for the VA to process my stuff and I submitted it within 30 days of retiring.
And concur with your assessment of the MEB process. They are all about taking care of you even though you're broken. I was going to MEB at West Point (it was nearest servicing facility) and ended up retiring. They were great there.

Creative destruction is being actively inhibited. Catastrophic failure is no longer allowed, faith in political interference in market dynamics means companies past a certain point are inured to the corrective feedback to prevent sub-optimal performance and prevent going obsolescent. By any rational measure, it cannot be argued that the USPS and the GSEs are anything but abyssmal failures and likely inefficient in the pursuit of their objectives.

Remember the young girl in CA who was raped and the three animals who raped her video-taped it and she then committed suicide? They got a really stiff sentence. Two got 30 days in juvenile detention to serve on weekends. One got 45 consecutive days in juvenile detention (he was 17). Those three assholes are damned lucky that that was not my daughter. And the judge who handed down these sentences should be removed from the bench and disbarred (among other things).

Several years ago, a Mafia hitman who was a particularly sadistic bastard wrote a book. One of his assignments was for a capo whose daughter had been knocked up by a scumbag who skipped town. The hitman caught up with the kid, took him to a cave, tied him down, depantsed him and set up a vidoe camera.
Then he left.
A week later he came back to a skeleton. He took the video to the don. Apparently the result was so gruesome, the hitman had to leave the room and vomit. But the old man watched it all the way through.

We had a new roof put on last August. I work from home and the noise was deafening. Both removing the old and installing the new. If you have a garage attic, be prepared to find a megaton of debris all over your stuff next time you go up there.

Like those three rapist animals. They should have been charged with manslaughter in addition to rape and they should be doing 20 to 30 as a minimum in a pound me in the ass lockup.

Levin said that they caved on having a conscience clause to allow religious groups to not have to fund abortions under 404Care and forcing the IRS to back off on harassing conservative groups because the JEF threatened a shutdown over them. Gutless fucking pukes. We do not have an opposition party. We are fucked.

The argument that they were juveniles just doesn't cut it with me. Juveniles that would commit such acts are irredeemable and unworthy of continued existence.

Nearly every act of terrorism committed in the world in the past 10 to 20 years has been committed by the Muzzie assholes.
The only ones I can think of other than them is the ELF bastards out West who are eco-terrorists and their actions have been very few and mostly against property.
So now its poverty the cause eh. Since Democrats and other socialists are the main purveyors of poverty then does that mean that being a Democrat is the same as being a terrorist?
And where are the Republicans who will say all the baove?

The price of admission: a promise to voluntarily take action to help more low-income students attend college.
The good lefty college presidents can cut their and all professors' ridiculous salaries and then reduce tuition. How about that? Nah, they're propose a tax for us to pay for it

In the Senate, his record of his constituent services has been lackluster, and most of his colleagues, despite their public support, are hard-pressed to list an accomplishment. Just last fall, a Boston TV reporter ambushed three congressmen with the question, name something John Kerry has accomplished in Congress. After a few nervous giggles, two could think of nothing, and a third mentioned a baseball field, and then misidentified Kerry as "Sen. Kennedy."
Many of his constituents see him in person only when he is cutting them in line - at an airport, a clam shack or the Registry of Motor Vehicles. One talk-show caller a few weeks back recalled standing behind a police barricade in 2002 as the Rolling Stones played the Orpheum Theater, a short limousine ride from Kerry's Louisburg Square mansion.
The caller, Jay, said he began heckling Kerry and his wife as they attempted to enter the theater. Finally, he said, the senator turned to him and asked him the eternal question.
"Do you know who I am?"
"Yeah," said Jay. "You're a gold-digger."
