12 More hypocrisy from the Democraps screaming for minimum wage hikes.  98% of them pay their interns zero.   Of course the entire thing is nothing more than a payoff for the unions anyway who get an automatic wage hike anytime the minimum wage is raised.  Studies have shown that less than 2% of the work force works for minimum wage.

36 According to a new study by the Employment Policies Insitute (EPI), only four percent of the 210 lawmakers who pledged their allegiance to a bill raising the minimum wage pay their interns.

The Fair Minimum Wage Act would increase the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour. EPI found that 96 percent of its House and Senate supporters give their interns a minimum wage of zero.

79 In May 2010, two months after the Affordable Care Act squeaked through Congress, President Obama’s top economic aides were getting worried. Larry Summers, director of the White House’s National Economic Council, and Peter Orszag, head of the Office of Management and Budget, had just received a pointed four-page memo from a trusted outside health adviser. It warned that no one in the administration was “up to the task” of overseeing the construction of an insurance exchange and other intricacies of translating the 2,000-page statute into reality.

Summers, Orszag and their staffs agreed. For weeks that spring, a tug of war played out inside the White House, according to five people familiar with the episode. On one side, members of the economic team and Obama health-care adviser Zeke Emanuel lobbied for the president to appoint an outside health reform “czar” with expertise in business, insurance and technology. On the other, the president’s top health aides — who had shepherded the legislation through its tortuous path on Capitol Hill and knew its every detail — argued that they could handle the job.

The president is expected to highlight the economic benefits of immigration reform, framing the debate in a light that might appeal to Capitol Hill conservatives.

In the end, the economic team never had a chance: The president had already made up his mind, according to a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to be candid. Obama wanted his health policy team — led by Nancy-Ann DeParle, director of the White House Office of Health Reform — to be in charge of the law’s arduous implementation. Since the day the bill became law, the official said, the president believed that “if you were to design a person in the lab to implement health care, it would be Nancy-Ann.”

Three and a half years later, such insularity — in that decision and others that would follow — has emerged as a central factor in the disastrous rollout of the new federal health insurance marketplace, casting doubt on the administration’s capacity to carry out such a complex undertaking.

94 In “Company Man,” Mr. Bush emerges as a hero. Mr. Rizzo recounts that although the president claimed in his memoir, “Decision Points,” to have approved the absurdly named enhanced-interrogation techniques before they were employed to loose a torrent of information from the few detainees subjected to them, the timing was such that he couldn’t conceivably have done so. Rather than resort to the plausible deniability that generally protects presidents, Mr. Rizzo writes, “Bush does the exact opposite: He squarely puts himself up to his neck in the creation and implementation of the most contentious counterterrorist program in the post-9/11 era when, in fact, he wasn’t. Now that’s a stand-up guy.”

Pope Francis is addressing the crowd at St. Peter's Square.  He's got his whites on, blessing the crowd, ten thousand people all adoring him...

Francis brings two kids up to the balcony to release the Doves of Peace.  Beautiful moment, the doves are flying, it's a beautiful thing...

Then out of nowhere, some ugly ass black bird and his seagull friend tear into those birds like it's a Golden Corral buffet.

Something I just learned about Maryland...

They don't report people who have been involuntarily committed or treated (eg "mental defectives" under the law) to the NICS.

In other words, if you are a Marylander who can't buy a gun in MD because of your mental illness, you can just travel to Pennsylvania, buy your shotgun, and then head back to MD.

Just because someone is mentally ill doesn't mean he isn't smart.

So yeah, the calls from the twits north of the river for universal background checks are actually more histrionic than I had thought they were.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio, of Maricopa County, told the news agency that 38 inmates in six different jails were getting meals of bread and water twice daily – the punishment for destroying government property while in custody. “These inmates have destroyed the American flag that was placed in their cells. Tearing them, writing on them, stepping on them, throwing them in the toilet, trash or wherever they feel,” Arpaio said in a statement. “It’s a disgrace to those who have fought for our country.”

John McCain, R-Ariz., had a private summit with atheist collectivist billionaire George Soros, whom TV and radio personality Glenn Beck once dubbed as "Spooky Dude." Soros is widely known for funding hundreds of leftist, collectivist political action organizations, including the infamous Center for American Progress, which he created specifically as a think-tank for Hillary Clinton. He has also advised Barack Obama to ignore Constitutional limits on his power in order to "rule by executive order." The McCain-Soros meeting took place in Switzerland Saturday at the World Economic Summit attended by some 40 world leaders to discuss how to reinvigorate the global economy.

Okay, just to show y'all how fuzzy my head still is this morning, the first time I read that my initial thought was,  "Have the feds decided to regulate the   number of times "Carry On, Wayward Son" is played on the radio or something?"

I am being 100% serious.

I should have stayed in bed.

241 239 Cromwell is another Hollywood lefty. Posted by: steevy at January 27, 2014 09:05 AM (zqvg6) A big one. But calling someone a lefty in Hollywood is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500. Oh, wait a minuteÂ…

242 Cromwell is another Hollywood lefty. ..... Then I consider myself lucky to have not heard any of his bullshit because I admire his skill as an actor. It is, however, difficult to reconcile his character in babe with the character he plays now.

This is one of those times when every word in the comment is a redundancy.

(not picking on you, steevy, btw.   Just making the observation)

244 182 You're in luck, JJ. Looks like Mimi and her dad left the "church." Posted by: Judge Pug at January 27, 2014 08:42 AM (E4MKN) Read her bio on IMDB. Big time enviro wacko. Then again, she's a mensa member and supposedly a poker cardsharp. I'd still hit it.

246 He really is fantastic in roles where he plays someone who is ruthless. I swear the only role I can remember him in which he played someone nice was the farmer in Babe. ..... I watched LA Confidential again this week. He is a dirty bastard in that too.

247 Mindful, this year's OK Mozart in June marks the 30th year -Sherry McEvil Yes, 30 years, thanks for the correction. We've been back here for 20. I have a hard time enjoying that Communism Center sometimes. It stands where used to stand the red brick grade school I attended, and my father attended, where I was taught civics, history, patriotism, and arithmetic, solid education which served me for a lifetime. When I walk across the parking lot I see ghosts of kids playing baseball and of a town that was once a lot more livable and family-friendly. USA in microcosm.

248 Holy cripes, what on earth has Madonna done to her face?  She's starting to look Joyce Wildenstein-y.  I know she's been on the road to plastic surgery OD hell, but she apparently has decided she will not stop until her face is a bloated, stretched, plastic mess bearing little resemblance to her actual original appearance.  Why... why...WHY do that to yourself?!  She looks just awful.

I'm thinking direct insults directed at Boehner and McConnell, and maybe a shout-out to his home boys in Chicago. Because dignity of the office and all that.

252 Which was a bigger bust, the pro bowl or the grammies?  Twerking, gay marriage and shitty football.

How do you win back the culture when there's absolutely no standard?

253 He played the loyal chauffeur to George Valentin in The Artist. And to Milo Perrier in Murder By Death.

254 Well, not in so many words. But if you’re going to have a meltdown over Tom Perkins, the co-founder of the venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield, & Byers asking if a “Progressive Kristallnacht [is] Coming?”, then by implication, you’re also condemning the Godwin-violating headline of Al Gore’s 1989 New York Times op-ed, titled “An Ecological Kristallnacht.” Gore’s column posited that such a catastrophe was “an immediate and grave danger” that could only be thwarted if we all “quickly and profoundly change the course of our civilization.” His then-recent history as a pro-life centrist Democrat in the 1980s was immediately forgotten, and his reputation as an environmentalist genius — the Goracle! — was immediately born. Three years later, he would be Bill Clinton’s vice-president. More recently, he signaled that this phase of his career had been concluded and that radical environmentalism itself was now passé, by selling out to big oil.

He was great and ruthless in LA: Confidential. He was a bit one dimensional and not ruthless in Star Trek: First Contact.

Yeah.  And Mitt Romney is an idiot who thinks we still use bayonets and horses and stuff.

I still cannot stomach that Mitt couldn't and didn't smash dickweed's smarmy "response" right back into his face.
