Fox discusses the targeting of Dinesh D'Souza but get a load of this horse shit from a federal prosecutor.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement that the office and FBI take a "zero tolerance approach to corruption of the electoral process."
Since when you lot of screaming assholes. Of course they will try him in federal court in NYC where they can pack the jury with a bunch of liberal Obama worshipers. Hey, I've got jury duty coming up in March. Bring him to SC for trial.

.It can happen. The County I live in Kentucky just voted in liquor sales three years ago. This (and other) County has been dry since the end of the Civil War.

Same sh-t as when I was an undergrad there. This is why I don't donate to their alumni fund.

That extra ten cents is important. A nice round figure, a nice even dollar amount (1, 2, 50, 100) would seem arbitrary, capricious even and setting the amount to pennies less than a whole dollar amount would seem mean spirited as if our beloved President for Life, the Mighty and oh so courageous Bwaaak were trying to chisel a few pennies out of the pockets of the working poor.
But raising that additional ten cents and hour clearly demonstrates how generous our masterful Commander in Chief really is.
There is one small, slight, tiny little problem. [soto voce], don't tell anyone but it's still the minimum wage, after everyone makes their adjustments. Those who can demand more because they have some talent, some skill, some experience, some tool who can demonstrate some ability will get more than the minimum.

There are some unions that have their minimum hourly based off of the minimum wage.. like minimum plus 2.50.. so Barky's voting block gets a raise even if their making $15 bucks an hour.

I would actually listen to Choom Boy's yammerings if members of Congress were disposed to yell "shame!," "no!" and "resign!" when he opens his America-hating yap. Following this with a motion of no confidence and a dissolution of his regime would be the best thing that has happened to our country in years.
The only thing better would be to see armed police enter the chamber in the middle of his treasonous ranting and arrest President Historic First©, Boner, Hairy Reid and about 200 members of Congress on charges ranging from treason to violations of RICO statutes.

I think what Sarah Palin does is forgive people, and not hold grudges. It doesn't sit well with some people, but I think it's just part of her character. Not some phony political persona, but her actual character.
It doesn't satisfy the red meat types, and those who think she's too soft (especially those who are supremely skeptical of ALL women in politics), it gives them ammunition.

The FAR, like any other regulation, is a minimum standard. There is nothing to prevent more stringent requirements at the behest of the Agency Director. Or in this case, the president.
Example: The EPA has minimum vehicle emmision standards established. The President (I think it was W.) enacted an Executive Order mandating that all Executve Branches (including DoD) must abide by a higher standard with the exception of tactical vehicles.

Originally, I was very fond of Palin. She seemeed to exude authenticity and honesty.
As the campaign wore on, my like for her waned. She kept repeating the same lines that were refreshing the first time or two, but became hackneyed and stale. Like a comedian who gets a laugh with a joke and then continues to repeat the punch line over and over hoping to get the same results.
After the campaign failed, I wanted here to stay away. Not because she is a bad woman or would be a bad politician, but because she seems to have grown too enamored with herself. Every thing she does anymore seems to be centered around gaining or keeping publicity for herself.
She has grown much too fond of the lights and cameras I think.

Not just the speeches, but they forced her to wear the clothes they picked out for her, they decided where she went, and whenever she went off-script they screamed at her to just stick with their plan. Literally screamed at her.
To some extent, I think she still thinks of McCain as the one guy in that campaign who was decent to her, so if she has loyalty to him, I'm not going to criticize her for it.

---------
It was bugging me so I went to look it up. I'm looking at subpart 22.10 where it's applying The Service Contract Act of 1965, under Statutory Requirements.
There's language in there under Statutory Requirements (22-1002-2) that says:
"Contractors performing on service contracts in excess of $2,500 to which no predecessor contractorÂ’s collective bargaining agreement applies shall pay their employees at least the wages and fringe benefits found by the Department of Labor to prevail in the locality or, in the absence of a wage determination, the minimum wage set forth in the Fair Labor Standards Act."
It's further hammered home in 22-1002-4:
"No contractor or subcontractor holding a service contract for any dollar amount shall pay any of its employees working on the contract less than the minimum wage specified in section 6(a)(1) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (29 USC 206)."
So in my reading at least, arbitrarily changing the standard at the executive level doesn't sound right to me.

Unless there are psychological problems that are compensated for by overindulgence.
Fat people are happy people, just talk to them, you'll see.
and once you render the fat, add in a little secret sauce, herbs and spices, they're delicious. Skinny people, on the other hand, are tough and stringy, not much meat, and takes all day to slow roast.

I should have also added that the authority for the Federal Acquisition Regulation comes from the Office of Federal Procurement Policy Act of 1974 (41 USC 425).
I don't see a section that says the Executive Authority has the ability to just raise a wage, especially given the language in 22-10.

It looks like the run-up to the 2016 presidential election is shaping up really well for the GOP!:
How Rick Santorum is laying the groundwork for another presidential run
...Santorum’s last-minute rise as a presidential candidate left him emboldened, and he never really left the stage in conservative circles or ceded his role as an advocate for a certain set of social views. Now he’s eying another run for the White House—a move that could upend 2016 calculations by such high profile potential candidates as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

.He isn't raising anything. There isn't a single Federal Contract worker who makes $10 bucks an hour. When I retired we had almost 60 contractors working with us as Clerk Level I. They started at $14 an hour. The Level II Clerks made almost $16 IIRC when they started. Almost everyone who worked there was entry level and making double the current minimum wage and well over this "raise".
He isn't raising anyone's pay, this is a hand out to his base to make it look like he is doing something.

132: "at least the wages" and " less than" are the operative terms.
I've been party to the management of programs that stipulated more than these minimum requirements on a routine basis.
Contracts given to vendors through the SBA or 3PL frequently have higher standards as well.
Congressionally mandated (or "advised") purchases or service contracts also frequently have higher than minimum requirements in order to satisfy their pet project or cause.
I'm currently managing a program that has standards much higher than the governing Agency's regulations as a direct result of Executive Order.
It happens all the time. The thing to keep in mind that the regulations and statutes have minimim standards. The Executive can go above and beyond at any time so long as the minimum is maintained.

I dunno Azengoth, I'm still unsold - to me it seems there should be a statutory grant of authority for a contracting officer or agency to override those subsections and say the contractor has to pay "at least" something that's higher than what's in the actual FAR.
After all, doesn't the contract have to live by what's in the FAR, which has to live by what's in the USC?

As long as the minimums are adhered to, they are abiding by the FAR.
I'd have to defer to a JAG or one of the lawyers here for the legal points of order. But from my experience in the logistics and acquisitions arenas, Executive Orders have been used to increase the requirements in performance, pay, and timelines above and beyond what is contained in the FAR.
I'll offer the caviat that I don't have the expertise to determine the legality of such action, and I'll have to give that aspect to better than me to pontify on. But from personal experience, it DOES happen.

I'm more referring to the statutory authority of an agency to demand something that's higher than what the FAR identifies. In other words, the FAR says if I don't pay at least the minimum wage, my bid will be denied. Fair enough. But then I'm being told an Agency can arbitrarily set its own wage floor and deny contracts that are compliant with the FAR but not compliant with the Agency's demand. That's the part I'm having trouble with - where's the authority for an Agency to set that new minimum standard?
On the other point, I'm quite sure EOs have been used thusly before, and they will likely be used again, but I don't think that's an argument as to whether it is statutorily kosher.

I've told the story before, but I was 6 at the time of the Challenger disaster. Since Christa McAuliffe was from NH, pretty much every TV in the state was tuned to the liftoff. I was lying on my stomach on the living room floor in front of our TV watching it go, and I remember when it split apart and the picture changed to those two curling smoke trails. I didn't know anything had gone wrong so I kept watching. It's so crystal clear in my memory, watching those bits of debris fall through the sky and not knowing what it meant. It makes for a very strange, sad memory.

Grammie Winger, we shall see on the heater. According to the propane techs where the heater is now does not meet current code. So got to measure to see if they are right. If they are, it becomes a bit moot getting new one.

Not enough refinery capacity + arctic cold = shortage would be my guess.

It should be Cruz or Rand. However, it can be very brief, and should be renamed. Instead of the SOTU response, it should be called the STFU.

Some tv station over the weekend showed a previous beginning where Gaylord Focker was walking to the podium and in his wake was Eric the Weasel Cantor doing his gladhanding best to be part of the whole fucking charade. There is no doubt that Top Men have that gelded eunuch in line to take over for Boehner when he cashes out for those sweet sweet lobbying gigs.

I presume they took out a few cows and cars too. I can't imagine those just fluttering lightly to the ground.

Cars? Hmm, guess they started a lot earlier than I thought...
