Happy Thursday.

Democrats are having a banner week when it comes to being arrested and charged with corruption. See here for the cases just from yesterday. Here's the one from Sunday's papers. The case against Leland Yee sounds like it was stolen from a Hollywood blockbuster.

Fallout from the Washington Post's now-debunked hit piece on the Koch brothers' Alberta oil sands investment continues, with two Democratic mouth breathers on the Hill using the false report to demand that Koch Industries explain its plans for Keystone XL. Even the hacktastic Washington Post piece noted that the Kochs haven't reserved space in the pipeline and that industry folks think the pipeline will conflict with the Kochs' other energy business.

5 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, March 27, 2014. On this day in 1884 the Cincinnati Courthouse Riots took place after an obvious murderer was convicted only of manslaughter. Thousands of people stormed the jail looking to lynch the murderer and ultimately burned the courthouse to the ground. In all 45 people were killed and 125 injured. Today's politicians who are protecting felons from prosecution would do well to remember this kind of historical stuff. But I doubt if it is being taught under Common Core.

7 Democrats want to act like they are going to push for an Obamacide 'fix" as a political ploy before the 2014 elections. Yes, they are worried. Republicans should counter with "why didn't you read the damned bill before you passed it? Why didn't you allow Republicans into the conference room when designing the POS, instead of locking them out?

15 Some may have missed this in the comments yesterday afternoon. In an amazingly idiotic ruling a regional NLRB has ruled that college athletes who are on scholarships are employees of the college and therefore may unionize. This is an outgrowth of a protest by a former Northwestern quarterback who would be "like a son to Obama". Since Obama stacked the NLRB with union goon lawyers there has been one ruling after another to force unionization instead of being a neutral arbitrator between business and labor. Based on the politicization of the NLRB the labor relations act of 1935 should either be revised to eliminate the NLRB or just repealed altogether.

Of course gambling is a vice. It's like a lot of other things people like to do: it's very very harmful to some, and just mostly harmful to most others.

It attracts shady people who behave shadily, and it preys on the weak-minded.

82 Obama’s Partner In Peace Mahmoud Abbas Says He “Refuses To Discuss” Recognizing Israel As A “Jewish State”… If this was Israel, Obama and Kerry would be accusing them of “sabotaging the peace process.” Via Israel Hayom: Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday that recognition of Israel as a Jewish state, one of Israel’s conditions for peace, will not be discussed in negotiations. “Recognition of a Jewish state is a condition that we absolutely refuse to discuss,” said Abbas at the Arab League summit in Kuwait. He went on to say that a future Palestinian state would be based on 1967 borders with some adjustments, east Jerusalem would be its capital, there would be Palestinian control over border crossings and airspace as well as full independence and sovereignty. That's the whole problem with all wealth distribution talk. Sure, life's not fair, and some people have way more money than they need.

Now show me how you propose to redistribute said wealth in ANY way that even remotely does it without stealing from those who already rightfully (lawfully) have it?

The thought behind the ruling (besides another outright power grab) was that college scholarships run all the way to $75K value, therefore the football players are employees paid in that value. That is far above minimum wage already.

Also note that the guy who filed this complaint with the NLRB is no longer a quarterback with NW so his Ox will not be gored. And I would be willing to bet that the regional NLRB office, or one of their goons, put the guy up to do this. IOW it is an illegal plant by a government agency.

That is far above minimum wage already. Yes, but my point (and others have pointed it out better than I) is this. The IRS does not view scholarships as income. For the NRLB to even have jurisdiction they have to view scholarships as income (or else the athletes could not be "employees.") These two cannot simultaneously exist.

109 I wish to say something in respect to last night ONT in which someone took offense to something I said and suggested I didn't understand about clinical depression. I say it here now in case someone else doesn't understand what I mean. I post these things about prayer and faith because I am a Christian. I am unapologetic about it, That doesn't mean that I think all Christians are great people or that the Christian church doesn't have a history of some very bad things including anti Semtism. I know that. It means that's what my worldview is based on. She didn't mention this but I bring it up. I don't post the hymns and prayers to beat people over the head by a two by four. It's too encourage myself and others here with a longer view of things and because i know there are Christians here (among others) who are struggling with all the bad news. Futhermore, the poster insisted that I couldn't know about clinical depression because I would know that happy thoughts don't help with it. Actually, I know that quite well. I've been dealing with clinical depression for 30 years and have been on almost every medication known to man. ;^) Sometimes they help. Sometimes they don't. If people are getting more and more depressed they need to go to the doctor to get medication if they can. I can't afford that now. I also suggested that if people are getting depressed-and I'm not talking about clinical depression-perhaps a break from this board would be in order. In addition I never suggested that if you had accepted Jesus as Lord you wouldn't have depression or problems, I have NEVER suggested that. My faith helps me cope. Other people's mileage may vary. In addition, the clip I posted from the radio program didn't suggest that either. The man who runs it suggest that you can be housebound or have various ailments and still feel the presence of the Lord which i know to be true in my life and the life of others. I wish none harm here and i'm sorry if my words were careless and hurt anyone.

And, yes, those whose job is to facilitate the buying/selling/trading of stocks will make money regardless of which way the stocks move. Film at 11. Look, if you're talking about dividend-paying blue chips, the actual cost of the stock itself is less important. You're not trying to "buy low, sell high" as much as you're looking for a dividend- which is usually defined as X dollars-per-share. Now, "buy low, sell high" is still generally good guidance, and your dividends will tend to be higher in good markets (because those tend to indicate that various industries are doing well), but it's very different from buying a stock specifically in order to sell it.

150 From the IRS You must include in gross income amounts used for incidental expenses, such as room and board, travel, and optional equipment, and generally, amounts received as payments for teaching, research, or other services required as a condition for receiving the scholarship or fellowship grant. Also, you must include in income any part of the scholarship or fellowship that represents payments for services. unintended consequenses anyone?

Of course you do.

So as long as I am required to have a financial stake in taking care of them, I get to say how they live. Your government requires that I do.

Everything else, all discussion of what the government should and shouldn't be doing is just fantasy.

He was summarily run out of office on a rail (both sides were up in his business about it). Our current AG was caught doing the pickle tickle with a lawyer (who, by the way, had sued the state while this was going on). His punishment: he decided to withdraw from the governor's race but stay in office. 220 TACOMA, WASH. — As Washington prepares to open its first retail marijuana stores in the next few months, tens of thousands of military service members have been warned not to shop in any of them. They face criminal charges and career-ending discipline if caught with a substance still banned by the federal government. “Our soldiers understand what’s legal,” Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza, the senior Army officer at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, said in an interview last week. “From our perspective, marijuana or any type of illegal drug is something that’s not tolerated.” The prohibition isn’t limited to active-duty service members. Shortly after state voters passed an initiative legalizing marijuana in 2012, Washington’s National Guard commander sought to clear up any misunderstandings by citizen soldiers who might have questions about the law. “Use of marijuana is illegal under federal law and Department of Defense policy,” Maj. Gen. Bret Daugherty wrote in a December 2012 memo. “Recent passage of Initiative 502 legalizing marijuana under Washington state law does not change this policy. All soldiers and airmen are hereby ordered not to possess or use marijuana at any time.” An omen of things to come

222 Hamas is taking another step towards the full implementation of strict Islamic Sharia law in Gaza, and is planning to introduce a penalty of lashes for certain criminal offenses. Nafez Al-Madhoun, the secretary of HamasÂ’s parliament in Gaza, said on Tuesday that the government is working on passing a new law pertaining to lashes. Speaking in an interview with a local newspaper, Madhoun said that the provisions of the new law will include a range of between 80 lashes for major offenses to 20 lashes for minor crimes. Madhoun further explained that a change in the Penal Code to include lashes is required, in light of the reality where the current law does not deter criminals, who view the Gaza prisons as a place for a vacation. He also noted that the lashes can accumulate depending on the number of offenses of which the defendant was convicted in court. If the convicted criminalÂ’s life may be in danger due to the lashes, they may be done in several batches. Hamas has enforced a stringent interpretation of Islamic law in Gaza since violently taking power there in 2007. hey I got an idea, let's give em a State. Hey kerry what ya up to?

If you believe, as many do, that America is too smug, too white bread, too self-satisfied, too rich, let’s destroy America. It is not that hard to do. History shows that nations are more fragile than their citizens think. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and they all fall, and that “an autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.” Here is my plan:

Not only do I have a huge problem with the prosperity Gospel-which IMO theological view is NOT the Gospel and is often based on the cupidity and pride and narcissism of the people who preach it, but I also have a problem with many faith healers. I think such people do exist but they're not hanging out a shingle and promising that you'll get better if you send in a donation to get your prayer cloth. I-along with the man I sometimes listen to on the radio from "Loving Grace Miinistries" have a pet peeve about "name it and claim it/gab it and grab it" preachers who insist that if you don't get well your faith isn't strong enough. I've seen that in church I intended with a group that split off and did their own thing. It's spiritual abuse. It's blaming and shaming people for not getting well and instead of suggesting that God is with us no matter what our circumstances-it;s basically saying that we put our faith not in God, but in our faith and so is a human centered religion. There's a big difference there b/t faith in God and faith in our faith. If people belong to such a church and it makes them feel bad because they're not getting well then I suggest getting out now. Wayne Monbleau says the same thing in the clip I posted last night and in his book, "Whys is this happening to me?" I haven't been on medication for depression for about four years and sometimes I feel bad, but not as bad as I have in the past and I'm grateful for that. I don't know why that is. It may be because i don't eat gluten or sugar-as much as possible- or that I try to get exercise and sunshine. I just feel that long periods of meditation and prayer have helped me a lot. I don't pretend that this will work for everybody nor would I ever blame people for being ill. All of this was quite different than suggesting people who are clinically depressed need to have happy thoughts. It just means if you're feeling emotionally bad breaks from here might help and some people here have affirmed that.

292 Thanks, MWW. I appreciate you sharing your perception., That was my thought too and I certainly hope an pray that person gets the healing they need in whateveer ways they need.

293 And just one more thing-If you are on medication for depression DO NOT go off of it because you might think I suggested that. I didn't and I'm NOT. I went off of it because my doctor left the area, I did not want to get a new one and because frankly, even with insurance I couldn't afford it.

295 We shouldnt forget about this one from last week either. A Dem in Obama's home state snared in a child porn/human trafficking investigation. Abruptly resigns after a raid on his home and legislative offices by ICE and the FBI. http://bit.ly/1o4cMvK

296 Paul Ryan isn't even limiting his amnesty hangup to good Democratic Hispanics. He's promised Irish immigration activists that he will push for amnesty for the 50,000 Irish illegals their prime minister wants legalized.

Apparently as long as you're not an American citizen you deserve a job and benefits in RyanWorld.
