Happy Monday.

Sec. Kerry told world leaders on Friday that Israel would become an "apartheid state" if it didn't make peace with the people lobbing rockets at it. Then State Department spokesjoke Jen Psaki defended her boss' inflammatory claim by citing to reputable foreign policy outlets DailyKos and Think Progress.

Toyota is moving its sales and marketing headquarters from California to Texas. "A company can easily see where it would benefit by relocating someplace else," said the Torrance, California mayor.

The Supreme Court will hear argument on Tuesday about cell phone searches incident to arrest.

Oh, you recall District Court Judge Leon's decision finding the NSA's phone metadata program unlawful? At the time, I criticized the decision on several grounds, noting in an aside that "it's been a while since I've seen a court decision with that many exclamation marks." Well, the latest document release from the FISA Court includes a decision taking Judge Leon's decision apart, and it includes an aside directed at his hyperbolic use of exclamation points and italics.

This took place during the filming of 1955s Picnic. It seems that, by this time, the shooting had got to the Labor Day picnic that is the center of the movie. Holden Â– who had been warming up the ice cubes since before he left the set that day Â– was hosting a party in his fourteenth-room hotel suite. Â“IÂ’ll come back if you make Josh watch,Â” Holden challenged. So they did, and he did.

Logan, his stomach churning from vertigo, decided to go down to the hotel lobby for a while. When he got there, he ran into HoldenÂ’s co-star Kim Novak, coming back from midnight Mass.

Â“You wonÂ’t believe what I think I just saw,Â” she told the director. Â“When I got out of my car, I happened to look up, and halfway up I thought I saw a man hanging out of the window. But of course, I probably didnÂ’t.Â”

Â“Oh, really?Â” Logan replied. Â“I wonder who that could have been Â– that is, if you really saw anyone.Â”

Â“Well, you know, itÂ’s funny,Â” Novak went on, Â“but the way he moved and the way he kind of hung there so calmly, I thought just for a minute, Â‘ThatÂ’s Bill HoldenÂ’Â”

The sixty two ships of convoy UGS 38 were off the coast of Algiers on the fateful evening. The SS Paul Hamilton was headed for the Anzio bridge head which was surrounded by strong German forces.

Our troops were so hard pressed that many of the 504 Army Air Corp men aboard had been retrained in mine demolition work for the planned break out.

For more efficient shipping logistics the brass had decided to keep the men and their 7000 tons of explosives together in the same unarmored ship, where one hot tracer round could blow them all to smithereens.

The flash stunned everyone. When combat cameraman Al GreenÂ’s eyes reopened he watched the mushroom cloud rise up from what had been the SS Paul Hamilton, and snapped his famous shot. Green recounted that the Hamilton explosion lasted six to seven seconds and then everything went dark again. More explosions were heard as four more ships were struck.

Toyota will build a headquarters in Plano about 1m to 1.5m square feet. Approximately the same size as the massive State Farm insurance complex in Richardson. Of course, they will seek incentives from Plano and Texas, which will be negotiated and then granted. No mention of how many of the 4,000 employees will move to Texas, but the ones that do are going to be stupefied to discover the size house they can buy for the same money as the one they lived in while residing in Mexifornia. Not to mention the cost of living, period. Oh, did I forget to mention NO STATE INCOME TAX.
