Happy Tuesday.

10 A film reboot of Battlestar Galactica is in the works again. Every couple of years they do this. I'll believe it when it happens. Unlike the TV show, the movies rights are owned by Glenn Larsen, the show creator. So while campy, it wouldn't suck like the remake.

15 Why doesn't wikileaks have a (NSA Director) Michael Rodgers blog where every move is documented, his high school yearbook pictures posted, his former neighbors and girlfriend interviewed?  I am now convinced that no one is clean, and the surveillance genie is not going back in the bottle, yet, other than James O'Keefe, surveillance is only used by the progressive anti-freedom movement to ruin conservatives.

19 I like to go to lunch alone & sit at the bar. Yesterday bartender told me that because of horrible winter, they discourage cutting up limes. So many lime crops were destroyed, he also said avocado crops were destroyed. I lost lots of roses, but was only outside for two hours on Sunday & I'm not sure what the extent is. I almost ordered some new climbers because I had to cut one down to knee level before I found healthy white pith, which means it's alive. I have others of same variety in same area & didn't get to look at the others. If I ordered new ones they would be smaller than what I cut back to. They aren't selling that variety now & it's my favorite climber. I'm not ordering any new climbers this year. I have 15 new roses, maybe a couple more, to be shipped next week or the next. It's cold & rainy here in Boston area today.

28 I don't know why the Mozilla flap happened but the Prop 18 donation was a ruse to push this guy out. One of the "petitions" was from a progressive non-profit credit card and cell phone company who has battled with Verizon and ATT over their "offensive" text messages.  And there seems to have been an internal struggle at Mozilla over mobile technology R&D. Eich didn't line up with those plans being pushed by some in the company. Wheels within wheels.

This is why I think the Mozilla flap is really about an internal flap and this ass was willing to stick his neck out to help come up with a ruse to get rid of the guy. There were others sending "petitions" too. They had to come up with something really stupid to push a guy of this caliber out. They couldn't on the merits so "he hates gays" was cooked up. Go over to Amazon, search for "Bach for Breakfast" then scroll down a bit to see all the other CDs (and .mp3s) in that series.  They have titles like "Mozart for Mediation" or "Baroque for Bath" and so on.  Don't let the titles put you off.  They're just compilations of some of the more popular classical pieces and since they're pulled from the Phillips music collection, they're all performed by first-rate orchestras.

You won't be disappointed, and this series is a great introduction to Classical music.

157: "....and all the "Got Tribe?" people should take note of a basic error on their part."

Which "Got Tribe" contingent, and what basic error?

One tribal contingent is based on racial identification, and another is based on neighborhood solidarity (which may also end up as a racial component).

And every idea or ideology has a number of errors. What error in particular are you hinting at?

I think I would have missed much  of  that, because I checked out  early  (around here anyway)  during the '08 campaign season.

Again though, surely that is one of the traditions around here.  Those who tow the GOP line, and those who rail against it.

Why,  just yesterday I seem to recall.....  and don't worry.  Drew will be here soon enough  to revive that argument today.

167 Our very own RightwingSparkle lost me with "We have generations of families who are here undocumented." Um, if you're born here, you're a US citizen, so that's not even possible. Plus, as a US citizen, I get offended when someone refers to an illegal alien as "undocumented". It sucks for these people, but let's call them what they are - Mexicans! (The overwhelming majority of them, anyway.) We have a long and celebrated history of letting people in (legally!) from every country in the world, but it is not our responsibility to solve the problems of every Mexican, or every person in every other country, for that matter. The problem is the screwed-up, corrupt, political situation in Mexico, and for every 1 person you let in here, there will always be 50 more in the same crappy situation. We have too many anti-American US citizens as it is, without becoming further outnumbered by people for whom political corruption is a normal, accepted practice. When the flow of immigrants becomes too large, as in this case, it ceases to be a situation where they're coming in and assimilating - becoming Americans - and starts to become an invasion. Why do countries invest in tanks, warplanes, and bombs, when they can take us over by just waltzing on in!?!

173 MP4 It has been a very dark period this past week. Especially since the second Fort Hood incident. Who else has heard the report from Joyce Riley, a veteran nurse from Viet Nam War who has spent her life advocating for soldiers' health, staying apprised of exactly what our military personnel are medically given. She's the radio host of Power Hour that is broadcasting at the moment. GNC Listen Live Online if you're curious. http://www2.gcnlive.com/CMS/index.php/onair program notes: Joyce Riley is an outspoken, upholder of American ideals and traditions with seemingly limitless charisma. She is fueled by her desire to keep Americans informed of the challenges this country is faced with everyday. In the spirit of democracy Joyce welcomes callers to speak their minds and share their knowledge. As we all know knowledge is power, that's why we call this The Power Hour! Help us restore the Constitution to its rightful place of importance in the United States.

Donald Berwick is one of the candidates for governor! I also found out that Massachusetts has a Constitutional Party. I was shocked.

A creative banker can put together a line of credit based on your group's equity in your homes at a low interest, which you can turn around and lend to up and coming pot dealers at a higher rate plus an equity interest. It might work.

I remember during Clinton's adm when we had to take out a significant loan to cover the taxes, despite paying taxes as we went along and saving in our budget. Nothing new, just far worse now. It isn't as if the working poor can pay what this bipartisan Congress w/ SCOTUS Chief Justice mandate on top of everything else. When Obama first announced his '08 candidacy, I read Obama Sr.'s published Kenyan government report: Citizens OWE the government 100% for all that the government does for the people. And it isn't "the Democrats" any more than it's "the Republicans" any longer. Wishing otherwise isn't going to turn the tables against the oppressive political class of authoritarians who HAVE corrupted governance into organized crime in THEIR post-constitutional world.

You're right about the 2 basic types. I was referring more to neighborhood kind, but it applies across the board, IMO.

The error, again IMHO, is thinking anyone has a feel for it beyond immediate family. Not even extended families help each other out half the time.

Last, those promoting the idea conflate it with "friends" too often.

196 Re:  the lime shortage

I followed the link to the 'Huffington Post' article.  It says the lime shortage is due to narcoviolence in the Mexican state where so many limes come from.

I have a source that says increased demand, not supply problems, are responsible.  Apparently Mrs. Obama's appetite has gone into overdrive.  She squirts lime juice over all the fried foods she eats - which is a huge amount - because she thinks it has fat burning properties.  In addition, she may be going through the change of life and for some reason be craving limes.  Or, maybe she's craving limes because she's pregnant.  I'm sure she and her husband still do it.
