Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Sen. Paul puts hold on Obama judicial nom who wrote at least one unreleased drone killing memo. Continuing his smart pattern of asking for actual gets when does these things, Paul says he'll release the hold if Obama releases the memos.

Former presiding FISA court judge says he expects no legislative alteration to the FISA regime until at least after the midterms.

Iowa's 1st congressional district GOP voted over the weekend voted to add this plank to the GOP platform: "We support the removal of the institution of marriage from government control." It was heated. "'I begged people to stand up, I shouted stand up for morality!' Saul wrote on Facebook. 'No one else other than the 89 stood. I shouted at the ones sitting down and called them moral cowards. They threatened to remove me and called the sergeant of arms.'"

Suprise! Switching from gasoline to ethanol-enhanced fuel is linked to more ozone pollution.

Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft say they are rewriting their privacy policies so that they will now disclose to the user if a government agency subpoenas the user's information without a court-issued gag order.

Read this teacher's angry post about having to administer a flawed Common Core exam.

This sounds like something out of turn of the century pulp horror—turn of the last century, that is.

He read a Kommon Korpse math problem and he said it took him about an hour - an hour! - to read and somewhat comprehend it. This is a person who taught mathematics for 25 years and has degrees in math and computer science. It's all about two things - money for kronie capitalists and indoctrination by keeping kids stupid and helpless.

47 The "young blood" story worries me. I can only imagine the horrors that will ensue from this-

"Come on, Johnny, it's time to visit Grandpa again!"

"No!!! I hate needles! Please, don't let him stick me again!"

I mean, how the heck are you going to harvest blood from children? Will public schools mandate "donations" from their students? Or will wealthy nations exploit poor people in the third world, until we see stories of kids dying because the parent took their child to three different vampire clinics in a week in Bangladesh? It's one thing if there is some conceivable protein or cell that could be artificially produced. However, the article I read implied it had to do with stem cells found abundantly in young mouse blood.

Quite. Then I start to compare Heinlein's "Troubled Times" with our incipient Burning Times, and one begins to think he was either prescient, or had the greatest understanding of humna nature ever witnessed since Christ.

I also recall there being some sort of pardon for Puerto Rican terrorists/Hillary campaign contribution deal. There was just so much scandal in that last year of Bill's presidency. 92 A little something different: _____ There were several important rules a soldier had to live by. An important rule was never volunteer for a combat patrol. We knew the Germans were well dug in on the east bank. We had heard a patrol from Company "E" of our 2nd battalion had crossed the river early this morning and had suffered several casualties. Our initial, almost lighthearted, response to Lt. Jones was words to the effect, "Throughout our lives we have heard a lot of dumb questions, but to ask us at a time like this if we wanted to volunteer for patrol across the Rhine was no doubt the dumbest question we had ever heard." To this day I still remember it is the dumbest question I have ever been asked. —War Stories by EO Swain. ____ Morning, Glories. Hope everybody is as well as can be expected for a Monday. I went looking for something entirely else this morning when Uncle Ed's book leapt off the shelf at me. Ed is my only true Uncle, and a wonderful man, with some amazing stories. I've mentioned on here before, after trudging across Europe, Ed was readying for the invasion of Japan. Instead, he gets to see his great-great grandchildren. Thank you, Professor Oppenheimer!

Which commenter is it who keeps saying "they're still not married?" Yeah, that. The problem is that we accepted the premise that we "define" marriage at all. There's not a "traditional" definition of marriage and a "non-traditional" definition of marriage, as though man kind came up with the idea all on our own. The word "marriage" did not predate the institution which it describes. Marriage is like "two" or "four" or "apple"- whatever *word* you use to describe it, it just is.

139 81. the original? Hardly lay that at Cinco de Mayo Mexicans who fought tooth and nail and won a major battle leading to eventual victorious war against French "interventionism" aka colonialist conquest for Empire. Hats off to that historical newly Independent Mexico victory over the neo-Napoleonic French Military leading to another Independent Mexican government. The Mexicans certainly fought during the 1860s for a better civil war cause than the Americans at the time during the War Between the States, North v. South secession American against American. And the Monroe Doctrine died on Abe Lincoln's watch. So, lay "the original Free Shit Army" banner on European Marxists redistributing deceit as if "hope and change" via blood letting revolutions. And yes, that made its way to the American Continent, South America, Central America, North America including the USA and Mexico. But most certainly, Rousseau did not emerge from Mexico, nor did Marx hatch from a Mexican egg. Neither did the Bolsheviks. Given the trappings remaining from the Conquistadors/Missionaries of Spain, "Mexico" has always had and will always have its Oligarchy that maintains its own power base whether a government comes or goes. /I saw, btw, the French Revolution's "Liberty, Equality and Fraternity" the agenda of the Muslim Bangladesh SOCIALIST cause for war against India, after noticing Drudge's Bogoland violence link this morning. At least the Muslims call that sale's pitch what it was and remains, sugar coated authoritarianism. Free shit, for those who kill, pillage and pirate. Paint whatever ideological title on the bloodletting -- blood money. Pirates "liberate" booty according to their own "social equality and fraternity" that equates to War Lord violence.

I agree on the danger posed by pedophiles, but how is polygamy a greater or equal danger to gay "marriage", or even a danger at all?

Not that I would fancy having more than one wife, as the one I got is about all I can handle. I certainly would not be down for having another dude in the home.

But Biblical reference points indicate that polygamy was the standard definition for marriage.

152 But most certainly, Rousseau did not emerge from Mexico, nor did Marx hatch from a Mexican egg. Neither did the Bolsheviks.

OTOH, the Bolsheviks did model their constitution on the Mexican 'revolutionary' constitution.

Given the trappings remaining from the Conquistadors/Missionaries of Spain, "Mexico" has always had and will always have its Oligarchy that maintains its own power base whether a government comes or goes.

An oligarchy, eh? Just like all the other nominally socialist countries. Hmm.

161 But Biblical reference points indicate that polygamy was the standard definition for marriage. Posted by: Azenogoth (Freedom or Fire) Est. 1836 at May 05, 2014 08:39 AM (f6ZLT) The problem with polygamy is that it is predicated on the concept of marriage as ownership. A man "owns" multiple wives (which is how the Bible describes it). If you remove that "ownership" idea, polygamy doesn't work, because then additional wives would have to marry all the other wives- not just the husband. And, though polygamy was indeed fairly wide-spread, it wasn't exactly "the norm" (though less eyebrow raising than now), and God was pretty clear about that "one man, one woman" thing.

166 It's a bigger end-game than polygamy or pedophilia (though it certainly makes those easier): "Without civil marriage, the family can no longer exist autonomously and serve as a wall of separation between the individual and the state. This has huge implications for the survival of freedom of association. The notion of marriage equality was never about marriage or about equality. It’s all about the wrapping paper. It’s been packaged as an end in itself, but it is principally just a means to a deeper end. It is the means by which marriage extinction – the true target — can be achieved. If marriage and family are permitted to exist autonomously, power can be de-centralized in society. So the family has always been a thorn in the side of central planners and totalitarians. The connection between its abolition and the limitless growth of the state should be crystal clear. So anyone who has bought into this movement, or is tempted to do so, would want to step back and take a harder look." http://preview.tinyurl.com/q7yygjm

Shredded Chi - this is for you

Sorry I fell asleep last night before getting to your question.

Yes, it is very important that you keep your dog on monthly heartworm medication.  Heartworm is spread by infected mosquitoes, and unless you live in an extreme desert region where mosquitoes are never seen, you should keep your pet on it.  Heartworm is a fatal disease when not treated, and treatment can be painful to the dog and expensive to you.

That said, there are less expensive options available to you other than Sentinel, which is pricey.  You can ask your veterinarian to switch you over to Heartguard Plus, which is a monthly chewable containing Ivermectin and Pyrantel.  These are the important ingredients.  Heartguard will not protect against fleas so it comes out to be less expensive than Sentinel by roughly 25%.  However, Heartguard  also protects against roundworms, hookworms and some other intestinal parasites.

An even cheaper Heartworm medication alternative is from the makers of Heartguard Plus, and it is called Iverheart.  It still contains the active ingreadients of Heartguard, but they spend no money in advertising etc and do not promote it heavily to vets.  If your veterinarian does not carry it, have them write out a prescription for you so you can order it from Pet Meds.  It should be about half the price of Sentinel.

I hope this helps, and that you see this post.  Again, sorry for falling asleep on you.

Also, many, many people simply don't have the means to just pick up and leave. Plus, imagine how hard it is for someone to understand how people who you have shared your existence with, your friends, suddenly want to kill you, or at the very least, take what you have and kick you to the curb. Remember, with witnesses critiquing and recording their every move, they had to try to "humanely" get the execution "done" with the guy fighting them every step of the way--at one point he was so violent they had to tazer him. Lockett had successfully sued and harassed a Tulsa compounding pharmacy into not making the drugs. BTW, there is some ultra Liberal lawyer chick in England who has almost single-handedly made execution drugs unavailable by blackmailing European Pharma companies into refusing to sell drugs to prisons for execution. She convinced the only company (Dutch) in the world that still makes phenobarbital to not supply the drug in those cases.

177 That is unless you consider David, Solomon, and a host of families throughout history as being cultish and evil? Let's see... David had his best friend murdered so that he could take said best friend's wife. Solomon led Israel (by the time of his death- and he started with such promise...) into Idolatry and was basically directly responsible for Israel splitting off from Judea. Both of those are direct consequences of their polygamy. We can go back further- to Jacob's problems with having two wives. Or further, to Abraham's problem (he only ever had one wife, but he did have teh secks with Hagar). The Bible acknowledges that polygamy happened. It never says "Oh, yeah, and this was totally God's plan for the family." Whenever God speaks of family, He talks of one man and one woman. And whatever happened in the past, the current common practice of polygamy really is more like Sherry pointed out.

190 Polygamy appears in the earlier part of the Old Testament, but after the Babylonian Captivity, it never rears its ugly head again. It was gone from Jewish practice centuries before Christ. Theologically, the Babylonian Captivity is often seen as a period of cleansing and repentance, so we can say that after it, the Jews returned to the one man one woman plan that God established in the Garden of Eden.

193 185. Lizzy No kidding. Because a person hasn't thought through ALL the ramifications; CONSIDER well the deviant life style of dirty old men marrying young girls, whether the girls consent or not; and banishing their own sons, young boys entering puberty, from their families and hometowns. And those young girl brides, what becomes of them when they are no longer "perky"? If the wife wishes to leave the polygamous marriage in a polygamous society, she does not have "mother's rights" to raise her children if the husband demands custody. It's all absolutely documented from the ORIGINAL Mormon social orders still functioning as cults. And THAT isn't even considering the influx of Islamic genital female mutilations and "honor killings" to protect the Muslim patriarchal order. So where has this idjit been hiding his head, to write: >>"However, I'm not convinced on the dangers posed by polygamy as being on par with deviant life styles." == Right. Because a man's gonna cheat anyway, so why not make polygamy a legal option. That kind of asshole shit FEEDS the lamebrain warzonwimminz mantra.

196 190. Burke You're right that "the Babylonian Captivity is often seen as a period of cleansing and repentance, so we can say that after it, the Jews returned to the one man one woman plan that God established in the Garden of Eden." Isn't it interesting, that Abraham emerged from southern Babylon "Ur of the Chaldeas" and that his progeny would become so perverse, and like the prodigal son who "came to himself" and returning home to be a servant in his father's household, the Jews returned to what God established in the Garden of Eden, which story originated from ancient Sumerian creation mythology (Babylon). Solomon was the worst evah polygamist on record. And he "pleased" Yahweh for requesting "WISDOM". Go figure. Ezekiel records Yahweh's description of Israel and Judah as far more evil than prostitutes because the "Jews" PAID their enemies to fuck them; and those "chosen" by Yahweh chose to defile their covenant with Yahweh, to break Yahweh's law of social integrity (care for the poor widows and orphans and lame), and they chose to worship idols "stumbling blocks in front of their faces". And to those reading h8rs who kneejerk at "Jew"? Insert your own ID, whatever self image -- GIVEN Myths, archetypes, metaphors -- a thoughtful person has to consider that a scenario applies as described when the scenario recurs, regardless of which aeon or name that people adopt. The more things change, the more they remain the same. "There is but one human race." Jesus answered, "Who is my brother" with the ostracized Samaritan, who proved MORE righteous and honorable and compassionate than the priests, lawyers, scribes and judges WHOSE JOB it was to be righteous, honorable and compassionate according to God's universal law that you'll find in every ancient 'civilized' culture's foundation.

Posted by: Lizzy at May 05, 2014 09:26 AM (8zTpe) The polygamist Mormon families already play the social services for every tax funded dollar they can grab in their dirty, abusive hands. See the border region between Utah and Arizona (and Nevada) for contemporary proof. Even CANADA is ahead of the US in cutting social funding for Mormon polygamists. As for Islamic polygamists, as if any North American government has the integrity to hold Muslims to the same standard of scrutiny as they weigh the authoritarian power to force citizenry to submit upon others.
