1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, May 09, 2014. On this day in 1961 FCC Chairman Newton N. Minow gave his Wasteland Speech. In that speech he invited people to sit down for a full day of TV and look at what he called a vast wasteland of crap (words to that affect). What would he say today? TV programming in 1961 was much better than the utter crap we have now.

The House voted 232-186 to approve the panel. The vote breakdown was 225 Republicans and 7 Democrats in favor, with 186 Democrats voting against the measure. The Democrats who backed the probe were all moderate to conservative party members who face tough re-election campaigns.

I called their official phone line, got the typical automated voice system. Two oriental ladies smiled at me. One was working in her garden and the other had dropped her lanky teen son off at the bus stop If you get a chance and can get out today (if it's not too hot or raining) take a walk and if you're a praying person look around for the blessings from God and bring them to mind. An attitude of gratitude can make one feel better-emotionally, spiritually and sometimes even physically. I would be grateful for your prayers for two people She was an attender at the last church I served but is currently without a home church. She is dying of cancer. Another person is Ann who is a member of the church i serve now. She has had problem after problem after a spinal surgery and needs healing. I am going to bring them communion today. This one was of Sharpton playing preacher man at the front of the pulpit. He was presiding over the "death" of all the Republican talking points re: Obamacare So, this particular, garbled comment of his was his attempt at mocking the Rs...or something.

Btw, if you ever have the misfortune to watch his show, or Shultz, it's amazing how juvenile their presentations are. They are loaded with cartoonish depictions and out-and-out propaganda. Without exception, as soon as they were old enough, they left their rural environs and moved to the big cities, for the simple reason that living in the sticks as they had been, made it very difficult to find others who shared their sexual predilections. The numbers that are left have to be vanishingly small, and if the USDA still has the time, money and manpower for irrelevancies like this, it really is in dire need of the budget axe.

Here in south China, only a few years ago, I can remember by May 1, it was hot and we were sweating in shorts and Tshirts. Now, weather forecast for rest of May is rain every day with highs in the 70s and lows in the 60s. Pools opened May 1 but water is freezing. Another month of indoor heated pools for me.
