— Ace 82%?
Meanwhile, an unrelated poll by USAToday/Pew predicts the possibility the largest GOP midterm gains in 20 years.
Yes, more than 2010.
Voters currently have so strong a preference for the Republican Party that if midterm elections were held today the results would signal the strongest gains for the GOP in two decades, a new poll has found.According to the new USA Today/ Pew Research Center Poll conducted April 23-27 of 1,501 people, including 1,162 registered voters, 47 percent said they are inclined to support the Republican candidate over the Democrat in their congressional district in 2014, compared to 43 percent who would choose a Democrat.
That result is so massive that it suggests 2014 could be a major "wave" election more sweeping than the election of 2010 that saw the tea party movement's rise to dominance.
...
The GOP's lead in the generic congressional ballot is the largest at this point in the midterm cycle for Republicans in the past 20 years, including before the partisan "wave" elections in 1994 and 2010.
By way of comparison, in 1994 the same poll found that Republicans had only a +2 advantage in 1994 (which produced the first GOP-held House since 1952) and were net-even with Democrats in 2010.
The 1994 election produced +54 GOP House seats and, interestingly, +8 Senate seats.
I doubt the GOP can win more than a dozen new House seats (we've gotten nearly as many as we're likely to get) but that +8 Senate figure is possible.

I'm sorry, but how is this helpful? The Republicans are as bad as the Democrats in all things. Doom, despair, and woe is upon on us. Rend your garments, pour ashes on your head. Pray for the forgiveness that will never come. All is lost.
There - glad to help everyone by getting that out of the way.

Question:
WHY IN THE FUCK IS THE SUP CT NOT TAKING UP THE CONCEAL CARRY BULLSHIT LAW IN NEW JERSEY???
Does this not trouble anyone else? If a govt official could, in their sole discretion, decide whether or not a woman was entitled to an abortion, would that pass the smell test????????
And in practice if this unilateral, unreviewable discretion of a government official meant that only the 1% would be entitled to a conceal carry license AND EVERYONE ELSE WAS FUCKED, would that pass the smell test????
Unfuckingbelievable.

Gergen says that "It is in not in our national interest to have a lame duck for 33 months."
Bullshit.
Having Obama relegated to lame duck status is the best possible thing that could realistically happen, short of impeachment, which will never happen because Historic First.
After the Mittbot 3000 shorted out on Election Day 2012, and deep gloom and eeyorism descended upon many in the Horde, my advice was simple: "Don't panic, this is obviously bad, but not that bad."
I went on to explicitly liken Obama to Francois Hollande, and I predicted that Obama's popularity would fall very sharply to new lows once he was re-elected, and that his agenda would stall. I said that the trajectory from glowing re-election triumph to somber "Obama fatigue" would be a quick one. All is proceeding as I have foreseen.
What to do now? When your enemy is on the ground, that's the time to smile pleasantly and then kick the ever-lovin' shit out of him. Don't let up, don't slack off, keep the pressure on. At some point Obama's native laziness will take over and he'll retreat more and more to the quiet of the golf course. Just where we want him. Where he isn't making new mischief.

Bitch McConnell needs to go, too. At a minimum, send him to the back benches where, perhaps, he can redeem himself.
If "Republicans" (whatever they are) win the Senate, won't do us any good unless the House is purged of pathetic hacks like Cryin' Johnny Boner and Eric (the Red) Cantor.
In fact, the best thing for the country would be to broom every friggin' member of Congress and start over.

None too confident about ousting Begich in AK.
Alaskans always put on a rugged-individualist act, but the reality is that they love them some pork. That's why notorious trougher Lisa Morecokeski is the other half of their Senate delegation.
And Begich's pitch to Alaska is simple: he's young, he has moved up quickly in the seniority ranks for such a relative newcomer thanks to retirements, and he is positioned to bring home the bacon for them for decades to come if they keep returning him to D.C.
Don't underestimate frank cynicism as a political lever.

The democrats kicked out of office would be out of a job.
The republicans would lose a big part of their "but we're not in power" excuse.
Democrats left in office would lose chairmanship on committees.

Considering how well that worked out for Arlen, I'd say that's about the best motivation to vote for a Republican this fall.

If only we had more RINOs like Susan Collins, Lindsey Grahams, and Dick Lugars in the Senate then we could stop amnesty, prevent obamacare, and vote against horrible judges.
Oh wait a minute... The base is well past the point of being appeased with fucksticks like these.
Yes, a light in the loafers GOP is preferable to a commie Dem in deep blue states. Everywhere else, however, and the compromise is over. One good think about the primary season, everyone is being pulled to the conservative side. Now if we can only pin them on their promises.
You know, like the one we'll do everything to fight obamacare. I must have missed the addendum that the GOPe would wait until we held the WH and both houses of congress.

Not happening. President Obama could drop-kick puppies and drown kittens on primetime national television and nothing would come of it, so what in the world would make you think Republican majorities in the House and Senate would have the nerve to impeach him?
No, what they'll do should they retain the House and take the Senate is what they've been doing: play go-along and get-along with the stealth socialist weasels transforming our country into an authoritarian superstate. And why would they do that? Because they're fearful of being labeled as obstructionists, just like they're fearful of being labeled as nativists and racists for not going all in for amnesty disguised as immigration reform, just like they're fearful of being labeled as rich fat cat enemies of the poor if they promise repeal of Obamacare, just like they're fearful of waging war on women if they speak out against abortion.
You do see the pattern, right? They've been running away for so long and so often that running away has become a habit. They've forgotten that the purpose of an opposition party is to oppose.

"The analysis in this report is based on telephone interviews conducted April 23-27, 2014 among a national sample of 1,501 adults, 18 years of age or older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia."
So, polling people in Texas to see how people in Georgia are going to vote for their Senator. Using the national "mood" to predict local races --- might want to hold off on to that confetti.
Still calling Senate 2014 - Republican net gain of 0.

If the GOP does manage to take over the Congress, so what? The GOP LOSERship is directionless, at least when it comes to being able to clearly and concisely articulate any common sense conservative/libertarian vision of where they plan to take the nation. As best as I can tell, their vision at this point is immigration reform -- when the Dem's are still in charge of the Senate... That's nuts...
The reality is the GOP LOSERship establishment are really just Mudfarmers who gain and maintain their power by pulling their crony donor's out of the Burrocratic muck created by the excessive regulations and taxes.
The LOSERship has no vested interest in fixing anything for the majority of main street folks... They'd lose their crony special interest support AND power.
For starters, if one really wants to change the climate in Congress, the politicians and Burrocrats should convert to a market sensitive defined pension contribution plan from their market insensitive defined benefit plans. Then they'd all have a vested interest in common sense reform of excessive regulations and complex tax policies laced with all sorts of special interest crony deals...
