What Happens When Lois Lerner Is Hailed Back to Testify Before Congress?
— Ace

I'ma gonna be lazy again and just say "Hey man, read it."

Meanwhile, Bradley A. Smith argues that Obama and Democrats sicced the IRS on Tea Party groups through public channels. They said this is publicly what they wanted, and my goodness, that's exactly what their subordinates did.

Be fair. I've been writing a lot lately. You have to average the words-per-post out.

Video: Via @niedermeyersdeadhorse (or NDH to you guys), Rep. Trey Gowdy talked about the Lerner case on Fox today.

In one of GowdyÂ’s scenarios, Lerner testifies. He indicated that that is unlikely. In another, she takes the Fifth again, and the committee holds her in contempt of Congress because of her previous claim of innocence. She can be jailed if she continues to refuse to testify. She could also be found in contempt and jailed if she fails to show up to next weekÂ’s hearing.

I know nothing actually good ever really happens, but I'm going to butter the popcorn and hope for the best.

24 This is why I don't want to give that scrunt Lerner immunity -- There may very well be NO smoking gun tying her actions directly to TFG. Sure, he suggested it publicly and she already had a disposition to do it anyways. Her past indicates that.

So I want her personally held responsible for her actions. Maybe offer a couple years off on a plea deal if she implicates others higher up the food chain.

The food chain is full of these ideological hacks with no remorse at using their power to advance Dem causes. See Joe the Plumber and McDonnell for further details.

At some point this gets hard to ignore, even for Rachel Maddow.  If MSM continues to ignore, Id use it in national ads in Nov 2014.  Repubs need more than just ObamaCare.  A majority of Americans don't trust Obama.  Make 2014 midterms a referendum on Obama,

58 Power of the purse. That's really how the Framers set this thing up. That was the mechanism by which the House was supposed to keep the rest of the federal government in check.

But when you have people in charge of the House who are unwilling to use that power? You get the situation we have now. Predictably.

As one of the Horde sagely observed, the House GOP do not for one second intend to exert themselves to right the listing ship. They merely desire to make sure their berths in the first-class luxury cabins are secure.

Why not, the people I've voted for to attempt to put the country back on a path of fiscal sanity and to defend the American way of life have given up.

Voting for more of them to surrender seems pointless. Sure it would get worse in some ways but isn't that going to happen anyway.

You all do realize they didn't just vote to extend the debt limit a bit as usual? They voted to suspend any debt limit at all.

The reason they didn't want a special prosecutor is because only Holder could appoint one. Do you really think that someone hand-picked by Holder would vigorously investigate and prosecute? 100 And this is from this week from Reuters, a supposed "news" gathering outlet: Global warming won't cut winter deaths as hoped: UK study (Reuters) - Global warming will fail to reduce high winter death rates as some officials have predicted because there will be more harmful weather extremes even as it gets less cold, a British study showed on Sunday. A draft U.N. report due for publication next month says that, overall, climate change will harm human health, but adds: "Positive effects will include modest improvements in cold-related mortality and morbidity in some areas due to fewer cold extremes, shifts in food production and reduced capacity of disease-carrying vectors." [...] Staddon's findings are at odds with a 2012 Climate Change Risk Assessment by the British Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) that said global warming would bring "some potential benefits, for example, a projected reduction in winter mortality." Asked to comment on Sunday's report, a Defra spokesman said an updated climate assessment was due in 2017. "We will continue to take account of the latest scientific evidence," he said. Whatta load of bullshit piled upon more bullshit.

129 I am disheartened. I think the leftists have made a situation that is unrecoverable. If we win, we must use the anvil and fire of government on all the left's hobbies - sell the National Parks in blue states, pave over and drill every "national monument' put in to please the Sierra Club, prosecute and imprison communists and other foreign state apparatchiks. That's just to start. Declare that the "amnesty" by President Carter was invalid and demand all to leave if they claim it pertained to them. Give them 3 weeks, then arrest and prosecute them all. Prosecute every Attorney General who did not/does not enforce laws - each is committing a violation of the Equal Protection clause. Outlaw Planned Parenthood and use civil forfeiture against them and the UAW, AFL-CIO, and every other thug organization. Use the powers the left has perverted to punish them - Or accept that the Union is dead and try to make a new Constitutional Republic without the dorkwads of the NorthEastern Corridor and Califorina. Either punish the guilty - harshly - or set up a successor republic. Those are the sole two peaceful options I see.

175 Democrats LUV immunity and amnesty. Redistribute guilt by evaporating evidence and keep those wheels of justice stuck on stupid static while "not a smidgeon of corruption" drowns America. Because there's always immunity and amnesty and pardons on the hand out rewarding corruption. [Chicken shit falling down on cue: remember GWB executive order granting the Sec/Treasury AUTONOMY. Yes, Paulson, you can take other nation's Central Banks, the Federal Reserve, all our tax funds, our home equity and our national economy, too. Off topic:

Major traffic accident, my truck totaled, aggravated old Lisfranc injury to right foot, okay otherwise.

Other driver cited "at fault", for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.  19 y/o airhead chickadee, in old Acura Integra, with all kinds of "=" and rainbow stickers on the back of her hoopty.

The impact knocked my truck off path to the right, smashing into a Ford Flex, which was waiting at a driveway on the right, preparing to enter traffic.

No one was medically transported, but I'll end up with an operation on the foot, to re-fix what'd been fixed once before.

Damn, I only had this truck one year....and absolutely, showroom mint, 2000 F-150 XLT SuperCab, and I only crossed 47,000 miles TODAY, and only yesterday dropped $66 on another year's registration.  I hadn't even put the damn sticker in the windshield, yet.

So, I've got my claim filed against her insurance.  Gonna be fun fighting THAT battle, I'm sure!  Totaled truck, Dr., bills to come, rental vehicle, and getting a fair price out of them on a 14 year old "like new" truck.

Prayers from the horde, will be very highly appreciated

183 Why pull punches on women in government such as Lois Lerner?
It's the women in Obama's admin that have done some of the most outrageous stuff, such as abortion warrior Sebelius and her contraceptive mandate (religious conscience be damned), Napolitano deciding her TSA could perform enhanced patdowns and ICE could release dangerous,  illegal immigrant inmates because Sequestor, and Lisa Jackson's EPA  reinterpretation of law in order to usurp regulation of greenhouse gassses from the states.

187 Newsflash; a Committee of House cannot arrest anyone.

They can pass along an advisement to the main body of an unlawful act (to wit failure to testify to Congress, contempt) but that has to be voted on and then submitted to the AG to submit to a grand jury for charges and guess who enforces that? That's right, Eric (I laughed so hard I now have a pain) Holder.

OR

The House can arrest her, try her and pronounce sentence but that sentence can only be as long as the term of the House session maximum. (it was last used in 1934. What's the chances of that these days?)

Think these bunch of wimps will go the distance? Or would she get found guilty?

I would demand that if I'd done nothing wrong.  Especially in the age of being thrown in jail for "lying to the investigators".  Lying to investigators defined as contradicting another witness the prosecutors choose to believe.

Uh, right now it is probably every bit as important to be talking to your legal counsel as it is your physician.

I know someone who was in a hard car wreck but seemed superficially okay. They claimed against the insurance of the person who had T-boned them, but only for vehicular damage.

A few years later? Debilitating neck problems. The orthopedic surgeon said, "These are old car wreck injuries that you're just now noticing."

Guess what? They'd signed the "formality" paperwork from the opposing insurance company releasing the insuror from any additional future claims. Completely boned.

Thanks, y'all.  She was a maroon-haired, kind of cute in a "going to be fat 20 years from now" way.

Hysterical, crying, and I don't know if she was on the phone or not at impact....but I'd say odds were about 99.9999% that she was.  Would be interesting to have the P.D. pull the call/text/time logs from that phone!

Destroyed her car, full perpendicular "T-bone" impact, the front of my truck impacting from the middle of her passenger door, all the way to her front bumper, crushed the firewall in on the right side.  She had some cuts from flying glass, but refused medical treatment.

Driver of the Flex (3rd car) was shaken, but uninjured.  That was WAS a cutie, about early 30s, and man, was she ever PISSED at the Acura's driver-ette!

Good thing on the Flex driver.  She works at a local body shop, and had the wreckers there, even before the P.D. showed!  LOL

The Flex may be fixable.  The truck?  Hasta la bye bye, truck.

I'll keep y'all posted with details of the bureaucratic nightmares which will surely ensue.

278 Jim you don't need to get attorney involved immediately unless you don't mind giving them 1/3 of what you receive for any injury plus costs. You have two years to file a suit if you think the insurance carrier is screwing you. If its clear liability and you have reputable medical treatment, the insurance carrier will treat you fair. Also she may have a limited policy so an attorney would be useless.

Jim, I sincerely hope all is ok and hate to read you need surgery. That said, glad you are ok, so to speak.

I had a year old car my Daddy got me after I totaled my first ancient starter car (not my fault! a 13yr old redneck drove me off the road in my ancient car, I froze holding steering wheel after trying to avoid this idiot, and car went in a gully, spun around and landed perpendicular to busy road). The car repair man told Daddy it was sheer luck I was not thrown from car and/or upside down as the axle broke. No seatbelts or headrests in the old jalopy. So, my sweet Dad bought me a v-8 Impala that could cruise. She also was solid like a tank.

Anyway, I was sitting at an intersection, minding my own bidness, when some ditz hit me going about 35-40 mph without braking. My car barely knew what hit her while her's crumpled and radiator was blowing like a geyser). I calmly got out of car, sweetly leaned in (noting her and her grandma were intact except for the driver, a dumb girl, weeping copious tears). I said "I hope you have insurance" and stomped off to call my Mama. I did have minor whiplash later which was no big deal at the time and I did not call an attorney or freak out. Anyway, her name was: "Fairy Lynn" I kid you not. wut.

Lars,

No, I just called my "on retainer" attorney to give him a heads-up, the police case number and some other info, just so that if I "should" run into claims from the 3rd driver, or unpleasantness from the "at fault" driver's insurance, that he'll be ready to dive in, with no undue delay.

He and are both hunters, shooters and members of the same business network, so, I don't pay (e.g. bend over for) the standard 30%+costs.

Always good to have an attorney who's a friend, and fellow cigar and bourbon fan, withal!

288 I'm reminded a bit of the left's interest in the Valerie Plame incident, except the IRS scandal was an actual premeditated criminal act from which many Americans harmed.

Of course, exposing a no-longer-classified agent in the newspaper is a much bigger deal than undermining the public's perception about the integrity of the federal government.  So it's understandable that Obama and Holder would deign to appoint a special prosecutor.

I got rear-ended by a young woman on a cell phone at time of impact. We (the people in the car with me) ran through $50,000 of medical benefits in the next two years without breaking a sweat. I never felt such unremitting incessant pain in my life, for over two years. She nearly tore my (and passengers) necks off. If it was up to me, using a cell phone in a car (hands free Bluetooth is ok) is a capital offense.
