6 3 Sudden DeathSounds like microaggression to me. They should just leave the score tied. No feelings get hurt and everybody gets a medal. Yeah, right!

15 5 Do they really need to go to 4-on-4 on the giant metric ponds the Euros use? I know, right? Those international hockey rinks are huge! But oddly enough, the goal creases are smaller than in the NHL. I guess because in int'l play you don't have so much rough stuff in front of the net. But the smaller creases worked to our advantage yesterday. One of those US goals would not have been a goal in the NHL.

26 There are twins on the USA women's team.  Twins!

I saw one of the USA ladies skate through another player who tried to body block her.  Laid her out, knocked her out, barely slowed down.

One of the ladies walks around at 150, bulked up to 180 and is still ripped.

True, it woulda been good to see the defenseman engage that center drive about 15' out instead of continuing to drift back. US was giving away the blue line on every rush down the stretch too. Afraid of getting beat clean I guess. Frustrating to watch.

Posted by: ParanoidGirlinSeattle at February 20, 2014 11:30 AM (RZ8pf)

172 But it was an absolutely bullshit make up slashing penalty for the Canadians when the US had that early powerplay in OT.
The reason that was called a slash was that the same U.S. player had been poking the Canadian goalie after the whistle before in the game (this isn't the NHL) and the ref warned both the player and the U.S. coach at the time that if it happened again, it would be called. The first time it happened (in the second?), the CBC's ex-player colour commentator pointed it out immediately including noting that the British ref discussed it with the Americans right away.
