— Ace Nothing more than this:
I have resigned from CBS.
— Sharyl Attkisson (@SharylAttkisson) March 10, 2014weft-cut loop posted this excerpt from Politico:
Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown
frustrated with what she saw as the network's liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network's corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.
The Politico article is actually very heavy on suggesting that political bias is the cause for the resignation (or at least that Attkisson would call it the reason).
Let the speculations commence.

The strange part is that it took her two decades to reach this point.
Which would point to there being more to it than just the liberal bias. She's known about that her whole career, and it has effected her ability to do her job the whole time she's been there.
Why now? Why reach your limit now?

I swear this isn't rejectionism, does CBS news matter? I watch Fox, CNN, MSNBC, especially when something is breaking. I watch one network Sunday morning show, not CBS's.

I heard on the radio that Obama is supposed to meet the interim prime minister of Ukraine Wednesday in the White House. Given the way the situation has developed so far, I expect Russian tanks in Kiev before the meeting is over.
On topic, does Sharyl get to take her notes and research with her or does that belong to CBS?

She mentioned before that her computer was hacked, and that she strongly suspected the culprit(s).
I hypothesize that the hacker was not CBS, but that CBS gave their "blessing" or even aided the hacker in doing so. When she looked to CBS to back her up as a journalist working under their employ, they dragged their feet.
So, either she came to the conclusion that they'd never take it further due to being owned by the DNC...
or
She found out they were helping the Obama cultists directly.

Based on the news 'items' we have discussed over the past few months, it is one thing to have a bias, and quite another to knowingly lie to the viewers and literally hide evidence for the regime.

So CBS news is pretty much passe, the news section of network TV is more or less a net loser for each alphabet network, but they cling to them because of a certain demographic and it still sells some advertising. And besides, what else are they going to put in that time slot?

Don: Okay, here’s my news question. A Senate bill yesterday passes, cutting off funds to this group called ACORN. Now, we got that bill passed and we have the embarrassing video of ACORN staffers giving tax advice on how to set up a brothel with 13-year-old hookers. It has everything you could want – corruption and sleazy action at tax-funded organizations and it’s got government ties. But nobody’s covering that story. Why?
Gibson: HAHAHAHAHA. HEHEHE. I didnÂ’t even know about it. Um. So, youÂ’ve got me at a loss. I donÂ’t know. Uh. Uh. But my goodness, if itÂ’s got everything including sleaziness in it, we should talk about it this morning.

From the last thread:
My wife and I were eating at some new Italian place that opened up. Turned out the owner was a former Maserati dealership partner and it was Maserati day in the parking lot outside. Every model you can think of was parked outside. Inside, there was an obsidian elbowed girl in a short skirt and a tight jacket with 38DDD's stuffed inside them. She was the receptionist at the dealership.

But Attkisson had become a polarizing figure at the network, sources there said. While some championed her relentless dedication to investigations -- ranging from defective Firestone Tires to the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal -- others saw evidence of a political agenda, particularly against President Obama. (The bulk of AttkissonÂ’s work since 2009 has focused on the failures or perceived failures of the Obama administration, including the administrationÂ’s failed green energy investments and the attack in Benghazi, though she has reported on several Republican failures as well.)
In other words, reporting on Obammy as anything other than a God among men is considered a "political agenda." Got it?

I'm as surprised as anyone else, but The Blaze is in the top 50 web sites in America. Not news sites, SITES. They have a bigger audience than TMZ. And the more Beck builds up the real talent for Blaze TV, the harder it will be for the cable sites to ignore the pleas to get it on Comcast, etc. Anything helping libertarians/conservatives get back in the business of affecting the culture again is fine by me.

ABC, NBC, CBS all do 2-3x that in # of viewers.
Combined they do 8x as many as FoxNews.
Yup. I recall that the network news audience is largely older (over 50) and therefore not a great future prospect, but until then they're gonna milk their influence as long as they can.

No, he's actually right. There's too much conservative triumphalism over Fox News' ratings (I know, I engage in it myself). MMFA or whoever got widely mocked here for claiming victory over Fox, but it's not wrong of them to do. The network newscasts propagandize far more people, MSNBC reaches more under-50s (not to mention Jon Stewart), and the LIVs and moderates all think Fox makes shit up and would never dream of tuning in to hear the truth from Megyn Kelly's ta-tas.

Attkisson has been one of the very few MSM investigative reporters to do her job. She did her job on Fast and Furious and received heat directly from the White House as a result, and that's just one example. I'm guessing her bosses received word from the White House that CBS access to highly placed sources would be severely curtailed or cut off if she remained on the payroll. That's how that works.
She's shown courage and integrity in an institution that has notoriously and blatantly forsaken both. In a just world, she'd be feted and celebrated by her peers, given a raise and a plum assignment by her bosses. So much for a just world.

Also, and this ties in well with the original post actually, but the movie is a cinematic punching up to Hearst, the greatest newspaper magnate at the time. Hearst assumed that Susan was based off Marion Davies and tried to destroy Welles over it. Early Welles had major balls, unlike filmmakers today. The history behind the film + the film's groundbreaking artistry is what makes it so incredible.

A few years ago, a deer hunter at Camp Atterbury near where I live fell from a tree stand and broke his hip and one of his legs. He was helpless. If his buddies hadn't heard his cries for help, the coyotes surrounding him (and moving in) would've had him. When I was a teenager, coyotes ran one of our cows to death. After that, we'd just shoot 'em on sight. The worst were those 'coy-dog' hybrids. Smart like a coyote but unafraid of humans.
Those who wax rhapsodic about the warm and fuzzy, Disneyesque aspects of nature don't know much about nature. It's claw and fang cruelty, and the only things keeping people on top of the food chain are two good legs, a few opposable thumbs, and a rifle.
