I related my experience as a kid with the newsreels - a small town theater the family visited and I went to a matinee once and saw it. While we never got home delivery of milk, neighbors did and those cardboard stoppers were effective for their day, folded and sealed quite well.

The party line, we went to a relative's home when I was maybe 5 or 6, way out in the country a couple of hours (these days, suburbs with $500+k homes by the thousands) and my aunt told me to hold the receiver for a minute because she had to get something from another room. So I listened, and was surprised when two different people were clamoring to use the line for their conversation, because my aunt had stepped away. Apparently, that was a green light for the next person to start with the conversation with the person they had called. My aunt returned in about a minute, and shooed both of the other locals away and told them to try back in about 10 minutes when she was done.

I was stunned and speechless trying to process what I just heard, of course I was young. At home, we just used our rotary phone.

At our house we just picked up the phone and waited for the operator so we could give her the 4 digit # we were calling. No messing other parties.

32 Yeah, I feel for those morons in Minneapolis. One of them lives something like 2 blocks from where the nonsense has been happening. But it isn't like most people can blow off their lease, or sell their place in a couple of days. Options are limited.

And Seattle and me? No worries, I live nearly 20 miles south in a suburb town with lots of greyhairs and armed rednecks and retired vets. Now, nurse rached lives in a great area of Seattle, but she has to go through a bunch of nonsense downtown to and from work every day. But her neighborhood is relatively safe.

I get the sense that the crowd is more urban than I imagine as it seems the semsibilities in supporting the cause trend to that mindset, almost like folks think that if there was an Uberdrugs there would be no issues. You took drugs to work harder, be saner, and feel more of what you wanted to feel. Drug use and abuse by people who are otherwise mentally healthy, confident, and hard working is less deleterious than drug abuse by nuts who have been bombarded that they are the source of all evil by accident of their birth.
A healthy and fully employed rural America's meth use would be targeted towards productive ends, like the 40s-70s not indulgent sloth like the last 20 years.

51 Morning Horde. Once again an evening with hubby's side of the family ends in a discussion of Covid. I was informed that even though I've had Covid and everyone at the dinner table had been vaccinated except my hubby we should all be masked up. Really, I'm immune and you've all been vaccinated but we still need masks. I asked why? Well the vaccine is just like the yearly flu vaccine and it's not completely effective and my immunity was only good for 3 months. What the hell! Nothing in life is 100% safe and no one gets out alive. So I'm supposed to worry about the infinitesimal chance of getting Covid from someone I live with and 5 other family members who have all been vaccinated. We've turned into pussies when a cold germ scares everyone to death. This isn't the way to live your life constantly fearing death. And Covid isn't by any means 100% fatal.

It was then published on Bari Weiss' substack. He pulled his daughter out of school and probably will have to move away to a new place to find her a new school.

That's what I saw yesterday, he was a prohibited person and the police are responsible for this shooting for failing to do their job.

If you have someone manage your VA disability or Social Security money nics is informed saying you are a prohibited person, but this guy got locked up in a mental institution involuntarily and no one thought to inform the background check people. Complete and utter failure.

Reminds me of the time we kicked out a guy after he had been to a Court Martial for spousal abuse. Happened in Navy housing he was found guilty got a dishonorable and was sent packing after his brig time. No one informed the nics check people and he bought a gun and shot someone. Huge stink and we had to go through all of our records to make sure we had not missed anyone we discharged.

Something similar happened in the Air Force but that guy actually killed someone IIRC.

A Michigan case at the Sixth Circuit interpreted that as a lifelong disqualifier per 4473 but unlike felonies, a person adjudged mentally ill has no effective way to regain firearm rights (a felon can be pardoned with full restoration of rights) at least theoretically.
The guy in Indiana already had a firearm (shotgun) seized in 2020 apparently due to his mental state which would indicate that a judge ruled that he was a threat to himself or others and thus unable to own nor obtain firearms at that point.

186 81Walking in Boston's Back Bay area last week I came upon what was once an Episcopal Church now displaying it's religious devotion to BLM, with a raised fist sign and a big flag, and to "Eco Justice", whatever the hell that is supposed to be. Anyway, Episcopalianism doesn't seem to be Christian in Boston any longer.

196 172 It can get worse for VA and social security recipients who sign things over to a fiduciary. Fella up in Erie got turned down on a firearms purchase (State Police do it there) for that reason. Trouble is he signed things over to a fiduciary (daughter) for physical reasons (wheelchair confinement). He got it straightened out with the staties. With the feds, who knows how long it would take or if it ever would be cleared.
