Note from Pixy: I persuaded the hamsters to cough up the rest of MisHum's work.
  • The Quotes Of The Day

Quote I
It is hardly possible to build anything if frustration, bitterness and a mood of helplessness prevail. - Lech Wales

(Wonder if he was ever a blogger)
  • Quote II
  • So let me assure you, I have not yet begun to fight for the country I love and for the nation that I know benefits from America First principles. I'm built for the battle and I'm not going anywhere. The smears against me range from distortions of my personal life, to wild, and I mean wild conspiracy theories. I won’t be intimidated by a lying media, and I won’t be extorted by former DOJ officials and the crooks he is working with. The truth will prevail." Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL)

  • Quote III
  • "The next big question is to work out what triggered the ice melt, and what impact the massive influx of meltwater had on ocean currents in the North Atlantic. This is very much on our minds today—any disruption to the Gulf Stream, for example due to melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet, will have significant consequences for the UK climate. Dr. Pippa Whitehouse, in the Department of Geography at Durham University

  • Quote IV
  • "We stand here today to introduce a bill that will correct this gross injustice and allow the land to be returned to the Bruce family,” CA state Sen. Steven Bradford (D-Gardena)

  • *****

  • You know and I know and we have known for months. But now the Left is realizing Dr. Tony Fauci is full of Shit.

  • Dr. Anthony Fauci is fully vaccinated. Fauci still wears masks for some reason. And Fauci is still telling people fantastic science fiction tales about the COVID vaccine. The COVID panic train has derailed. We have three vaccines. Over 100 million Americans have received at least one dose. Dr. Marty Makary of Johns Hopkins says that based on the data, specifically the infection mortality rate, he estimates that two-thirds of the country has already had the infection. Natural immunity is something the experts do not talk about because herd immunity means the end to them telling us what to do. That was never the case. These lab coat fascists never could tell us what to do. The entire circus act has been revealed many times over. it’s time to shut down production. The vaccination rates, plus those with natural immunity means were probably near herd immunity. The United Kingdom is projected to clinch that benchmark on Monday. Oh, and an unpublished study by Israel’s ministry of health shows that just one dose of the Pfizer vaccine renders the subject virtually "bulletproof” from infection after four weeks. In the US, you get two shots separated by 21 days. Get the vaccine and you’re going to be fine, but it’s a personal choice.Nate Silver has been commenting about the so-called fourth wave were supposedly living under right now, but he doesn’t see it. The data doesn’t suggest it. Michigan is the only place where trouble is brewing. That’s not a wave. There’s no consensus, though the liberal media suggests otherwise. Then again, they are a special sect of people who specialize in misleading the public.

  • Follow the money, always follow the money. Patrisse Khan-Cullors, one of the co-founders of the Black Lives Matter movement and a "trained Marxist,” is reported to have bought four homes over the past several years, as her activist profile grew and protests raged around the country.

  • Last week, real estate website Dirt.com reported that the "37-year-old social justice visionary” Khan-Cullors had bought a $1.4 million compound in Topanga, a remote Los Angeles neighborhood nestled deep in the Santa Monica mountains.

  • *****
  • Of course this is completely rational and makes absolute sense.
  •

As the below CBS clip from this weekend confirms, we're now already far past some imagined theoretical 'Brave New World' slippery slope - indeed we've blown past it in the worst nightmare scenario..

Only people who are vaccinated can evacuate on cruise ships as the La Soufriere volcano on the eastern Caribbean island of St. Vincent erupted on Friday. This creates a "two-tier" society where vaccinated people have already fled the island on cruise ships while non-vaccinated folks are choking on volcanic ash.

And just like that the 'COVID passport' slippery slope has been amply and frighteningly demonstrated with great clarity in an ongoing life-and-death situation.

    *****

  • Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. Unless you're a whimpy Canuck politican. As the fabulous Mrs. Mis. Hum. would say, "Oh, FFS".

  •

‘Federal internet censors should target hurtful words against politicians, says Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault. The Minister added pending regulations may include an internet kill switch to block websites deemed hurtful, but called it a "nuclear” option.

  • Is there a Karma Claus Virginia? I certainly hope so

  • The military junta in Myanmar has detained an official from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and has frozen the billionaire financier’s bank accounts in the country under the suspicion that the group funded elements opposed to the February coup in the country, according to news reports.

The coup came after the party of controversial pro-democracy campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi won a landslide victory in the November elections, Reuters reported on March 16.

Alleging election fraud, the country’s powerful military, known as the Tatmadaw, seized power and arrested Suu Kyi.

  • The ONT Musical Interlude

  • On this day: April 11, 1961 - Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan played his first live gig in New York City at Gerde's Folk City, opening for John Lee Hooker.

  • That must have been a hell of a show.

  • I understand the song, "I Can't Drive 55" but this is a little extreme. GeniusAward Winner.
Driver of a car that blew by two OPP officers while doing 186 km/h on the 401 Saturday claimed he thought there was no speed limit on the 401

It might not seem like there's a speed limit on Highway 401 at times.

But there definitely is, and it's well below the 186 km/h a 33-year-old driver from Toronto area was travelling when he blew by a couple of Ontario Provincial Police officers on Saturday morning near Gananoque.

We often expect miraculous acts of bravery from LEO or FD personnel. But what about the average Jane Doe? Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Woman Who Can't Swim Rescues Elderly Man Who Fell Into Harbor A woman in New York is being hailed as a hero for jumping into the water at Barcelona Harbor to rescue an elderly man who fell in while feeding ducks.

12 Feel good story out of Seattle this weekend was a man who spotted a serial arsonist and chased him down and held him until the cops arrived.  Add in the street racers in the U District getting their car rolled over and having fireworks fired at it and the mostly peaceful protesters in Portland setting the ICE building on fire.  It's a treat to not be on that side of the mountains.

30 carryover from last thread, since I was too late.  Awesome response by nurse ... and good additional advice by others.  Only thing I'd add ... the way things are going, always record all action, always have a body cam like the cops.

And maybe wear a hoody ... so can defend self anonymously , get away, no lawyer or political BLM/Antifa friendly politician can then track you down to attack, as they do with the 1/6 White House "intruder/terrorists" that are being drug out of their homes with dawn raids, held in DC as political prisoners. ..., and if you talk about it online, change several details so it can not be traced to any certain incident ... (again, as they are doing with terrorizing the parents that peacefully walked through the capitol).

Hey, it's his blog, he can do what he wants, that's the Libertarian way, right? And just like most libertarian's, he a chicken-shit. Hey I've been banned by the best, Reason and American Conservative. Both cuck sites, written by cucks, for other cucks, and funded by the donor class. As both a military and civilian law enforcement certified less lethal instructor a couple of comments on pepper spray:
-Great job NurseR! -at breath freshener range, aim for the mouth they're moving around will spread it around -at greater distances - many modern sprays will do about 10 ft - aim for the chest and spray straight up towards the head. The chest is much easier to hit and since these are dynamic actions aiming for the head at this distance may lead to a miss. Even if you don't get it in the face the fumes will drift up into their face. -Major manufacturers make inert/water canisters that you can use to practice the unlock and vertical spray technique. -The foams and gels are longer persisting and often have a dye in them as well. -Sabre red is the product I and my family use. -You are going to be exposed. First aid is copious amounts of water rinse rinse rinse rinse rinse. 10 times more than you think you need. Don't rub and don't use any sort of detergent product that has any kind of oil in it as it will trap the pepper underneath it. Rinse rinse rinse. Todd your contacts. There are some decontamination wipes and cleaners out there that are helpful. Maalox or mylanta actually works very well and is quite soothing. -Works unbelievably well on aggressive dogs, too...

122 Just finished reading about Nurse R's adventures downtown and I will be getting some pepper spray pronto.  I've always thought lethal would be better than non-lethal but I don't have the skills to assess whether a situation is going to turn lethal so spray is better.  It's enough to dissuade most of our vagrant-American and crazy-American friends, I expect.  I work in the burbs right now, on a sizeable campus (no, not that one - I have no idea how to code) and I never see anyone on the property I don't know.  But I do have to drive 20 miles back home through some possibly dubious territory and it would not surprise me some day for some of our dear Antifa neighbors to block more than just the I-5 bridge.
I was (technically) assaulted by a crazy person downtown.  He had been getting in the faces of women wearing ear-buds as they apparently were listening to unapproved voices.  I took out one of my earbuds to see what was going on and that was when he grabbed at me and got my blouse.  I started yelling up a storm and of course no one in this damned stinking town paid any attention to me at all.  I was right by a drug store and I knew the check-out was right there so they dialed 911 for me.  Three days later, I got a call from King County Jail asking if I would testify as to what happened in what I dubbed "crazy court" as, the caller said, "they had been trying to get this man off the streets for ages."  That's a tale for another day, but we have had this problem for 20 years.
Do I wish I had moved long ago?  Oh, hell, yeah.  But I don't know where I would have gone.  That has changed but it's very scary to move somewhere without a job set up and that requires much planning.

Jake308.  The Bonneville Speed Record for a stock GL-1500 Gold Wing is just over 105 mph.  But, the theoretical top speed (at redline) in 5th gear, translates to 137 mph.

Alas, not enough horsepower to punch through the aerodynamic "wall" presented by the large front area of fairing, windshield, flat-six engine and twin radiators.  I suppose one could strip a similar 'Wing from it's ABS plastic bodywork, affix something more streamlined onto the running gear beneath, and see what it could do?

Difference between your 450 and the 'Wing though, is the GL could reach it's 105 in one, near-linear surge of acceleration.  HUGE torque in those flat-six engines, making the bike far quicker than any 900 lb. sled has any right to be.  Zero to eighty times were eyeblink fast, and accomplished at the upshift from 3rd.  And you'd best be either a)hanging on, or b)have installed a suitable driver's backrest.

My view is the Gold Wing was the biggest sport bike Honda ever made.  Thing is, most folks forgot it'd do what it'd do, and ride it like a Winnebago.  They sure did miss out on a whole lotta fun.

188 The critical thing if you're going to go over a 100 is a good suspension.
Both those vehicles I used were either new (the Honda) or recently worked on to bring up to spec (the javelin).
I usually didn't do that sort of thing even back in the day but the Honda just whispered to me while I was heading back to the Naval Base to take it all the way!!!!
And the Javelin trip was I had to go from Orlando to Jacksonville and back over night as I had to work the next day. That's 4 hours at legal speed plus time in Jax to take care of some business and I left Orlando late as this wasn't a planned trip. Spur of the moment. I think it was like midnight or there abouts.

The smokey flicked his lights so I stopped, protested, and was ticketed. Having said that, I had a friend in junior gun club who's dad let him drive the '67 Jaguar 6cyl hard-top to practice. One day he asked me if I wanted to drive it. There was a 6 or 9 mile (I forget which) county road past the police/sheriff's shooting range, and the range was at one end of it. He told me to turn toward the other end. When I thought we were doing 90 I looked down, and the speedometer said 130. I immediately started backing down. My buddy never said a word until we reached the end of the road. It's the fastest I've ever driven.

203 I felt uncomfortable on the bigger bikes. Later in life I had the opportunity to go for a trip with some folks on a 750 Honda. It was too heavy in my view. yeah lots of power but hondas back in the day tended to be top heavy. Except the smaller models.
I was riding the Honda CL 450. With the high pipes. the 66-67 model with a pipe on each side. Later I bought a cl450 tt with both pipes on one side.
This had no fairing or anything. I just laid out over the fuel tank so I had to raise my head to see the speedo.
It's all in the gearing. The 450 was not into jack rabbit starts but once it got going is was quite agile.

Jake308.  Your 450tt was a Honda for the ages.  One of their finest in many ways, other than the hand-numbing vibration at certain speeds and/or RPMs.  Such a perfectly visually balanced bike, too.  It just looked "right".

The 'wing belies the CG thing though.  Heaviest part of an engine is the cylinder heads.  On the 'Wing, those are just in front of each ankle.  Transmission is under the engine.  Battery and fuel tank are under the seat.  Add those all up, and it's one of the lowest CGs ever calculated on any bike over 500cc.  Made riding up to a 4 way stop, stopping and looking and rolling on, very often a "feet up" evolution, not even having to "dab" a toe to keep things balanced and vertical.

Upgrade the fork springs & oil, install a good fork-brace, swap out the rear shocks for Progressive Suspension, and you've got a bike that can really straighten out a twisty road.

238 Because the shot is not a "real" vaccine (live but weakened) it doesn't give anyone an immunity. It's a reaction to the mRNA therapy that makes the antibodies and this is what many doctors are concerned about.
Will the therapy also target certain cells and make antibodies for them also. This could lead to sterility or other complications.
There is also concern that these therapies will create more deadly strains as the person who's had the shot is shedding viruses all the time. There are also a lot of incidents of death immediately after having the shot and in Israel they're seeing signs of an increase when the sickness rate should be going down. Israel is a good example as they are a closed (mostly) country with a large percentage of pop. that are getting/got the shot.
There are Doctors (or so they say) that have some very real and could be deadly concerns about the messenger therapy.
Me I'm just concerned because they bypassed a lot of tests and they're also using an experimental method that has never been used before for a vaccine.
They are performing gene therapy on ignorant subjects. A lot of health care workers won't take it. Over 40% of the Marines haven't. There are some problems and the media (U.S.) aren't reporting it. You have to prowl thru the stories from the overseas media to find out what's going on and the deaths and side effects. I'm no Vax denier but I got some concerns with this thing.

No tornados, no flooding (where I am), no heavy snow, no extreme humid heat, no Hurricanes, no earthquakes, etc.

260 Jim,
These were 'average' riders, on 'as delivered' bikes, on a poker run. I was an old man, riding since '64, on a Ducati.
At the end of the run, the Gold Wing and Harley riders attacked the guys that laid out the ride, as there were serious corners on some downhill stretches. They were absolutely pissed at the harsh cornering required. Lots of HD and Gold Wing riders NEVER lean over far enough to make sparks. You know that is true.
Can it be done?
Yes.
Can *MOST* Gold Wing and HD riders do it?
No...

Isn't J&J a rna therapy too? It's just one shot not two like the others.
"normal" vaccines take a long time to roll out cause they use live virus but weakened. This stuff makes the virus on the run from changing the genes in a cell. This is the problem I have with it.
it is an experimental vaccine. We should not be test subjects.

Jake308.

Nosir, the J&J is not the rDNA perocess.  Classic, dead (or weakened) virus technology, just like the Good Olde Dayes.

It's reported to be only about 65%~70% initially effective, but here's the bigger benefit, far as I can tell.  In the large scale field trials, the percentage against Moderna & Pfizer wasn't as high.  BUT, the J&J percentage of those who became critically ill or died, was..  zero.

So, I'll go for "don't get critically sick or die", with a 100% track record (at least up to the point where they started wide scale distribution, don't know details after that?)  But I do NOT trust the rDNA thing.  For all the not trust it reasons.

Okay I misunderstood the explanation I read. However this therapy does mess with ones cells and there's concern that certain cells could be targeted incorrectly. I probably got that wrong too.  As I understood it, certain cells to do with fertility could be incorrectly targeted and cause sterilization. but that effect would not be known for quite a while after the shot.
I just don't like the idea of getting a shot that the long term effects are not known. That it's action is a concern to those with more knowledge about this stuff and that it may be possible for the mechanism to screw up and cause unwanted and/or deadly effects.

344 I had a fine idea earlier this evening: take you basic N95 mask, and goop up the outside with urethane spray foam, paint is disgusting colors, and some Vaseline to give it that wet look. Make it look like a myriad of nasty plagues have multiplied in the mask.

And then wear it casually in stupid places that still demand that you mask up.

Bonus idea: print images of Hunter Biden's meth mouth on masks.

Funny you should mention Ben and Jerry's. For whatever reason, I went looking for an ice cream flavor I had not bought in... 15(?) years. New York Super Fudge Chunk. Chocolate Ice Cream. White and dark chocolate chunks. Macadamia nuts. Excellent. And it seems to have gone the way of the Dodo. It's all cookie dough BS now, apparently.
