(Tuesday Mar 11) AOSHQDD- Florida 13th Congressional Special Election
— CAC

Volunteers are still adding in the results- Pinellas is just rollling them in, but Jolly has won the race. We are canvassing and updating precincts now, but there's nothing left for Sink

Also- big kudos to Pinellas County: even with 15 volunteers hammering away, over 180,000 votes reported in under a half hour!

AOSHQDD lives again. Follow live, minute-by-minute returns here.

We will also be tweeting out results at @AOSHQDD

Our official prediction is Sink winning in the low single digits (2-3 points now), but an upset would be nice.

I want to thank JohnE for rebuilding the site, Joel Fagin (@ningrim) for designing our source sheet, and all of the horde who are volunteering. We will make a call as soon as we are confident.

You can see that that's one of their only available tactics in this election year. I'm a woman, but this fake "women's issues" crap bores me into a coma, so I zoned out. Then they went on to talk about the new "voter suppression" law in Wisconsin. It was a relief to leave the waiting area to go get stuck with some needles.

People don't give a shit about Obamacare, the economy, debt, foreign policy. All the bad thing happening now and down the road will effect everyone but them. They didn't want it, so they're throwing it away in exchange for less freedom and lower quality of life. This is now our county.

Life is either a bitch or just and endless source of entertainment. Your dick-shooting reference actually brought up a memory I hadn't thought of in decades. Story Time: I was an E-3 living the large life of wading in government money to the tune of $300 a paycheck (I was rich!). We were in the dayroom playing pool and watching ESPN and there was a blood-curlding scream from down the hall. Some genius decided it would be a good plan to place his johnson into a vacuum cleaner with a metal fan rotating at about 4k RPM. Turned his engorged penis into sausage (LOL). Pro-tip: don't fuck fat women or metal fans. So the wing commander, being a douche, made it a point to send the chief down to inform all of us that the first person to make fun of dick-in-blender would receive non-judicial punishment. 292 In four states — Colorado, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania — automatic recounts are triggered when the margin of victory is less than a specified percentage of the total vote. An automatic recount is triggered when the margin of victory is 0.25% of the vote total in Ohio and 0.5% of the vote total in Florida and Pennsylvania. So if 180,000 votes are cast in this election, a recount would automatically occur if the margin between Jolly and Sink is less than 900 votes.

331 I have ZERO confidence in the electoral system. The case of a Michigan woman whose mummified body was found years after her death is getting even more bizarre. Apparently, Michigan records show she voted in 2010 -- two years after authorities believe she died. The Detroit Free Press reported Monday that Pia Farrenkopf voted in that year's gubernatorial election. Authorities have not publicly identified the woman whose body was recently found in a sport utility vehicle parked in the garage of a foreclosed home northwest of Detroit. However, the newspaper reported Farrenkopf owned the home in question, and authorities believe it is her. Authorities say all signs indicate Farrenkopf likely died in 2008, when she would have been 49. The voting records, though, throw that timeline into question. They state Farrenkopf registered to vote in 2006 and voted for governor in November 2010. They don't say but I bet she voted democrat!

396 Old and Busted: The Shrinking US Navy Fresh Bullshit: Obama Magically Grows the Fleet DefenseNews: You might have missed it, but virtually overnight the US Navy just grew, from 283 battle force ships to 291. A windfall purchase? A fast-track transfer? No, just a new way of counting the ships that carry out the Navy’s missions. “We periodically assess the rules of how we count ships, and these changes better reflect the demands of our combatant commanders and the current mission requirements of our Navy’s battle force,” Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said. “These changes provide us with the flexibility we need to ensure we have the right ships, with the right capabilities, in the right location, to execute what is required of our maritime forces under the Defense Strategic Guidance.” The changes have been in the works for years. A big difference is in the way ships qualify as members of the battle force. Ships that do not regularly deploy overseas, for example, won’t be counted, but ships of the same type that do will be included. Some non-combatant ships, including hospital ships and high-speed ferries, will be counted, since they fulfill certain missions even while lacking in firepower.

404 DefenseNews: At least one key congressman quibbled with the Navy’s logic. “I am disappointed to see the Navy is now counting ships like patrol craft and hospital ships in its battle force fleet that only a year ago it chose not to count,” said Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., chairman of the House seapower subcommittee. “As well, I do not believe that a ship put in a reduced status should be counted,” Forbes added. “With America’s national security budget under severe pressure, it is imperative that the Congress and the American people be able to visualize just how radically sequestration is impacting American naval strength.” Mabus told Congress the “change will provide flexibility to the combatant commanders to assess the near-term environment and changing situations faced in meeting the demands of the Defense Strategic Guidance, and ensure that the ship types needed to execute the DSG are captured.” The specific impact, he added, “will result in adding 10 patrol craft forward-deployed naval forces currently operating in the Fifth Fleet, reducing the mine counter-measure ship count from 11 ships to the eight ships [forward-deployed in Bahrain and Japan], adding one high-speed transport assigned to Pacific Command … and adding the two hospital ships in fiscal 2015.”

We could be in for a pounding in November. Time to contribute and organize." "Or if you round up by a bigger increment, it's: 50/50 Anybody for a coin toss? ;-)" "I'm disappointed (1+ / 0-) In fact, I'm depressed. " "does anyone still think that money (0+ / 0-) can't buy elections? Does anyone still think that Citizens United is not that big of a deal? This is another example of how, in one fell swoop, five of the most corrupt Supreme Court Injustices in American history (Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Sam Alito, William Kennedy and John Roberts) have stacked the deck for Republicans...giving them access unlimited amounts of corporate cash so they can just saunter on in and purchase themselves seats." "Democrats need a clear, unified message on healthcare reform." "The really bad news (4+ / 0-) Rs ran hard against the ACA in this race. Expect a ton of "Obamacare is bad" ads this fall, and about a month of stories on how health care reform will cost Dems the Senate."

Let people know that Dems all blow,
And really must be beat.

Heave ho, they all must go,
And put Cons' in their seats.

653 if CNN is right about the flight path, then the aircraft back tracked over the Langkawi Airport. It was late, so it would have been closed, but they can handle big aircraft. I was there last December. The island is rocky, a resort area. The water is constantly criss crossed by shrimpers, fishing boats, and huge cargo ships. If it went in the water there, someone will find debris before too long. I just don't understand why the Malaysian AF didn't tell everyone about the u turn days ago. They allowed the search to continue in the wrong place. The only reason to do that is IMHO is if they majorly fucked up and are covering it up

The black box "signal" is an acoustic pinger - I believe I saw a reference to 30days.  If that plane is in the water - then the ASW assets available to those countries should have no trouble finding it.  Regardless of where it is - Gulf of Thailand, South China Sea, Indian Ocean.

Here's where I put on my tinfoil hat and enter the wilderness of mirrors -- I think they have it acoustically, all of them, but no one wants to be the first one to publicly unzip their fly with regards to their sonar capabilities and are going to wait until some fisherman gets to be the hero.

818 "And if Rush had just been polite to her instead of falling for an obvious trap, she'd be more of nobody than she already is."

Polite to her? Not even that. He should have resolutely ignored her as the ridiculous nonentity that she was.

Unfortunately the ridiculous nonentity was deliberate culture war bait by the Democrats, and Limbaugh bit right down on that bait.

820 @797 Fuck him, my vote goes to Brannon in the primary. Perdue had vowed to veto the CC bill in the first session, you are forgetting we had a democrat governor then. Think here. Why waste a vote. Brannon has NO chance of beating Hagan, NONE. Why vote for a man with a guilty verdict for fraud hanging over his head. Suicide vote?

821 805 To day on TMC they showed 'Bengazi' (1955). I have never heard of it or seen it. Just saw a brief glimpse, but there was a lot of shooting going on. "Last Stop for the Lost! ... hangout for the hunted!" Sounds a bit like the ONT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bengazi_FilmPoster.jpeg Posted by: Mike Hammer at March 11, 2014 10:08 PM (aDwsi) I saw that on the SAT guide. I have it on one of those 50 great WWII movies DVDs. Heh!! Some cringe worthy stuff, but worth the $2.99 for Gung Ho! and Go for Broke! Bengazi kinda sucked...but the seriously bad Italian WWII commando flicks were sooo cheesy bad, they were good. Among those flicks it was fun to get stoned and make up the dialogue as you......errrr... never mind.

822 I'd have a moron meet up and get Tillis to come over, but I have a wedding to fuck with that won't be over till after the primary. Which means my wife doesn't want a bunch of drunk internet buddies swimming in the pool while she is getting ready.

Rush walked right into it, but the Left will always find something or make something up.

But she signed it in the next session...and by then it had been watered down. If Tillis wins the primary he gets my vote...but until then, he can be reminded of the consequences of his actions.

And that ruling is on appeal, FWIW.

774 Too bad Charlie Crist is going to win the governor's race. Fucking hate that guy.

The Oompa-Loompa is from Pinellas County and some of it is in this Congressional District that Jolly won tonight.

I can't imagine Orangeman feeling too good about Pinellas County at this moment.

829 806 Hope NC votes for most principled conservative in primary. Posted by: NCwoof at March 11, 2014 10:09 PM (aUQgu) I hope they vote for the candidate that can beat Hagan. That is the goal, right?

Posted by: Nip Sip at March 11, 2014 06:17 PM (0FSuD)

830 813 Nip

I read Brannon chose trial over settlement to the two hucksters trying to extort him over pure business conversations.

That seems the more honorable approach.  Looks like he got a jury stacked with RTP
dems.

Don't count on that as your fallback NIP, cause people see through it.

If your candidate is so fabulously the winner, why did he align himself with loser Karl Rover

832 Bellweather is one word.

So is gofuckyourselvesNewYorkTimes.

Posted by: the littl shyning man at March 11, 2014 08:44 PM (O4ed1)

And, if I am not mistaken, it is "bellwether", not "bellweather". "Wether" is an archaic word for sheep, and the "bellwether" was the sheep in the flock that wore the bell, and thereby made known the location of the flock.

833 Huge upset.

Jolly was a deeply flawed candidate against a well funded, hand picked Democrat in a tossup district.

National Democrats should be nervous.
