Happy Friday.

Programming note: I'm doing another segment of Huffpost Live's "Legalese It! with Mike Sacks" this afternoon around 3:15.

The Congressional Black Caucus calls for Rep. Issa's removal as House Oversight chair. Let me tell you what's not going to happen . . .

At what point do Democrats start admitting that the best thing that could happen on healthcare is to start from scratch? The report from McKinsey is only 9 pages and most of it is graphs. Definitely read it.

Mayor de Blasio's approval rating drops to 39 percent just two months after he took office. Such fickle beasts, New Yorkers.

This? I liked it:

Loving this one right now.

Have a great weekend.

1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Friday, March 07, 2014.  On this day in 1936 Adolph Hitler sent troops into the Rhineland. He could have been stopped at this point without the millions of deaths that came later.

99 42. CPAC itinerary blogged at Heritage.org http://tinyurl.com/kgg8up9 1. "Put a great teacher in every classroom." God Almighty!! As if Bush's "No Child Left Behind" didn't make public education and our American Civilization far worse than before his compassionate conservatism "helped". If you want literate children, you must teach them AT HOME to be literate, to be responsible individuals, to study, to work hard, and to achieve their own successes in life. The teacher is only the icing on the cake you bake at home. Of course we want "great teachers" but no plank from a convention grandstand is going to magically make what you ask. What we NEED are great children, great students. And those require great parents. Teachers help, but even if laws/policies incorporate children "belonging to the State" that not only is doomed to widen the Road to Serfdom, but marks the CPAC bid for the contract. CPAC = Neoconservatives: We can make big government work better, by making it even bigger, TOO BIG TO FAIL. We can promise the pie in the sky because you're dumb enough to buy it, and too lazy to make your own, anyway. Quayle: We'll usurp the Tea Party.

They are NOT a Republican leaning group. 2nd and 3rd generation Hispanics are largely FSA Democrats, particularly those in large urban areas. — Vic Just for the record, and inspiration. an anecdotal exception: I've mentioned before the citizen born Mexican who rents the neighbor's pasture. With his thick accent and garish cowboy boots, he's quite a character. Successful enough he sometimes checks on the cattle from his plane. I've not had a lot of contract with him, but I did get a taste of his thinking back during the election, touching on a local D.A. race. I'm... reasonably sure he doesn't vote Dem. Maybe the exception rather than the rule, but I would welcome a (legal) influx of that kind of Hispanic with joy. Alas such folks are too rare in all cultures. He reminds me of the old blacks, good Christian citizens whom I've known, who can't stand what the black youth have become... sometimes their own kids. You know what? I've been privileged in my life to have known some mighty fine people. And they weren't all in Oklahoma. Just most of 'em....

Yeah, I'm sure the bank has a computer algorithm that detects spending outside of a geographic area, daily spending outside of some norm, etc. etc. Computer notifies actual individual who makes the phone call to you. I'm not a big fan of on-line banking. 140 "1. "Put a great teacher in every classroom." Teaching isn't a trade, it's a talent. Just like the talent to sing, you either have it or you don't. No amount of training can ever impart the ability for someone to make the connection necessary to teach. It used to be that people with this talent naturally gravitated to the profession, but then the unions took control and now a "teacher" is someone with degrees in education. No talent - but the proper credentials. A talented teacher can take the most unlikely student and turn them into high performer. An untalented multi-degree union teacher can take the brightest, most motivated kid and shut down their will to learn forever. Change the system to focus on results instead of process.

Issa has been in that position for a while now and has proven himself to be utterly out of his depth. I'd call him "comically ineffectual" except that the only people laughing are Democrats as they successfully weasel past the watchdog yet again.

Can anyone point to _even one_ successful inquiry that Issa has spearheaded from his seat chairing this crucially important committee?

176 Captain Hate, it already is. Has been for a long while. It's just hard to ween creatures of habit from their favorite teat. At some point, the light of day breaks through even dimwits. Given Epiphany, better not go back like a dog to its vomit. At some point, don't keep falling for propaganda because it's the sort you enjoy hearing. Morons need not assume incorrectly that coalitions amongst "conservatives" don't get things done. Problem always remains: WHAT gets done at WHOSE expense. Contrary to Hermes' Wisdom, the living dead Kissinger (kept alive through blood transfusions from babies): Mutual Dissatisfaction, negotiate "peace in our day" through what you're willing to forfeit to balance what you require others to forfeit. Kissinger keeps selling because he keeps getting people to buy; but the public beware since there is no limit to what neoconservatives take, and every limit to what they grant. LIBERTY or DEATH there are a lot of ways that death is made manifest I support the death of the outmoded "post-constitutional era" whale in whose belly we must find/MAKE our own deliverance. Americans have been running away from our Constitutional Republic "Exceptionalism" far too long. Even Jonah knew when he MUST respond correctly to his call. Even the greatest city of Nineveh, King and People, knew when to respond correctly, alter course, and re-align to the rule of law. Constitutional Integrity Quit missing the mark and crying "foul". Don't give your rights away to some foolish/smart-ass "representative" who has already sold out EVERYONE in order to win for Washingtonians. The demonization of libertarian-republicanism is an alibi for the destruction of Constitutional Integrity.

179 Talking about schools, here in PA the (D) candidate for Governor is running commercials with the theme that he worries about schools on the other side of the state and they should worry about his schools. The backstory to that is that Philly schools never have enough money and his 'appeal' is to get them money -- because he 'cares'. The further backstory is that new real estate in Philly (controlled by (D)'s) gets a 10 f*cking year long tax 'holiday' from paying taxes. So it's a local problem but this shit-for-brains (D) is gonna make the appeal to Philly folks that he'll save them and make the rest of the state pay.

Anyway, to get that information you'd need a magnetic swipe. And you can't get a magnetic swipe via online shopping. Basically what I'm saying is: Doesn't matter if you're online banking or not. If you use a credit card it's vulnerable because the weakest link is the store's security. And if you only use cash, you're vulnerable to muggings. There is no entirely secure method. 208 In the court case, ThomasÂ’ attorney asked police how they determined the defendant had the cell phone in question. The police declined to answer. A judge ordered a response, but only after clearing the courtroom and sealing the official record.

Now on appeal, courtroom deliberations revealed last week that the Tallahassee Police Department used a Stingray 200 times since 2010 without seeking a warrant.

“This record makes it very clear that (Tallahassee Police Department) were not going to get a search warrant because they had never gotten a search warrant for this technology,” an appeals court judge said.

Beyond the prospect of unconstitutional warrantless police searches, government watchdogs have long warned against surveillance tactics that broadly expose the personal information of countless innocent people in attempts by law enforcement to identify individuals suspected of crimes.

The Republican's push for amnesty reminds me of that incident. I guess the Republicans are okay with two birds in the bush rather than one in the hand. Ha. Lurking too long. She got her first rifle — pink, of course — on her 6th birthday. Six months later, she could hit bullseye after bullseye at the shooting range. At 7, she started competing. Now, at 9, the Franklin Township fourth grader is a highly skilled competitive shooter who proudly shows off her second place medal from the New Jersey State Ruger Rimfire Challenge Competition in October, when she beat not one, but two retired police officers. “When she steps up to the line, it’s like a switch goes off,” her father, Dan Roberts, said. “She’s methodical.” That focus, speed and spot-on aim, combined with her confident grin and cheerful poise has gained Shyanne national sponsors, a growing fan base, attention from reality show producers and the chance to, in her words, “kick everybody’s butt.” Her father however, says her competitive shooting career could be stunted before it really starts, if recently proposed legislation reducing the state’s legal limit of rounds in a magazine is signed into law. Now THAT is girl-power.

But from headlines, Issa wants to play a hard nose conservative (stay elected), while in substance he's mush who can be squished to facilitate and empower PC policy, i.e., corruption. Same applies across the board with the "old guard" neoconservatives, aka GOP National Leadership. Ex: McConnell or Cornyn. They fire blanks at Marxists, but open season live rounds on grassroots constitutional conservatives. I always used to chafe when the Leftists ranted hate speech against neo-cons. I read Krystal, Sr. publications, and neoconservatism sounded logical enough. But by its fruits, a tree is known. And even Bill Krystal admitted, under extreme proof results, the miserable failure and folly of interventionist wars to "spread democracy" nation build, etc. One need only look at Obama to see how far the criticisms laid at Bush's innovations were VALID. Sure, the mannerisms of delivery are stylistically fashioned to appear different. GOP neoconservatives are more patient in timing the tyranny in practice, and maintain "good manners" so people trust Dorian Gray's smiling face. But authoritarianism by any other name is still the death of Liberty.

There is now an app for smart phones that basically takes a picture of a check and your bank accepts it for deposit. In the 'old days' the account number had to be printed in magnetic ink or you had to have a magnetic ink toner cartridge (which I do have). They have now made check fraud infinitely easier. I'm not gonna get into how easy it is to print a bank routing number, account number, the correct symbols, etc off a standard laser printer. Child's play. As to the other stuff I don't want to get into how easy it is, or direct you to a website where you can search for names, account numbers, all the stuff you need. You pay about thirty bucks per name. 243 169 Change the system to focus on results instead of process. "Perhaps a better Conservative answer, "It's none of our fucking business at the national level: no standards, no guidelines, no testing, and no funding. Good Luck." Although getting the federal government out of the education business is the ultimate goal, one way to do it is for republicans at the fed level to back the elimination of public schools in the large inner cities. Prove the concept, then get out.

247 Posted by: SE Pa Moron at March 07, 2014 08:42 AM (CnA9 I totally agree, it's easy. And the camera app stuff is a result of "Check 21." (A law designed to make "echecks" a thing, I didn't just make that up.) That's not my point. My point is shoring up your own OpSec is wrought with huge diminishing returns. Should you check your computer from malware, totally, frequently even. Should you assume every breach of your credit card information is somehow related to your use of online banking or online shopping? No. You're just as likely to get your stuff swiped at a brick and mortar store these days as you are online. (Arguably you could be safer online if you use a constantly rotating set of newly generated "Safepass" numbers.) The worst part is we're being pushed from both ends these days. The large organized units are hacking medium to large retailers for batch information. And small time thieves are still doing small time thieving. Case in point. Wife went to a restaurant, card got skimmed by the waitstaff (small time thief). A few months later, massive data breach at our regional grocery store (millions of records.) Such is the new life. Precisely 0 of that could have been prevented on our end except by maybe not using cards altogether. But this is why banks have 0 consumer liability.

It is obvious from hearing him speak that there is something wrong with him. His self esteem, ideas, and rich fantasy life of how insurance markets, economic recessions, and medicine intersect have precedence over the health and welfare of the nation. He developed his theories in a faculty lounge with long bull sessions with other sociopaths. It never occured to him that people would figure out that people will actually DIE because of his $(^t and that the peasants would resist being herded. 254 Israel on Wednesday intercepted in the Red Sea an Iranian shipment to Gaza of dozens of Syrian-made surface-to-surface rockets. These are our new Iranian negotiating partners.

North Korea last Thursday test-fired four short-range ballistic missiles and another this Monday. Then on Tuesday it deployed a new multiple-rocket launcher that fired four missiles with enough range to hit American and South Korean military bases near Seoul.

In Moscow last Wednesday,Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Russia plans to use military bases in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua for its navy and to refuel strategic bombers. Three months ago, Secretary Kerry ostentatiously announced in a Washington speech, "The era of the Monroe Doctrine is over." Naturally the Russians took this as a green light to return to one of the Soviet Union's favorite playpens. The next day, a Russian spy ship, the Viktor Leonov SSV-175, slipped unannounced into Havana Harbor.

Then this Wednesday, a news bulletin: "China announces 12.2% increase in military budget." That boost comes within 24 hours of the Obama budget proposing a decline in U.S. defense spending.

There are a lot of others here, and I have yet to add an African American or a Mexican American to the database!

268 House Republicans will tie the “doc fix” to a delay of up to 10 years of the mandate in Democrats’ health care law that Americans purchase insurance, according to GOP aides.

Leadership has been looking for a way forward on the legislation, but have yet to find a politically safe way to offset the $130 billion price tag for the 10-year “doc fix.”

Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., had been reticent about moving the bill given the price tag, and as an opening salvo in negotiations, he will put on the floor a bill that would offset the cost from savings found by delaying the Affordable Care ActÂ’s individual mandate.

279 "House Republicans will tie the 'doc fix' to a delay of up to 10 years of the mandate in DemocratsÂ’ health care law that Americans purchase insurance, according to GOP aides."

Don't worry. The GOP will cave in like wet cardboard and the doc fix will get passed. As all previous doc-fix bills have passed with massive GOP support.

Y'know, a party that styles itself the party of Reagan might actually one day rediscover supply-side economics as it applies to medicine. And begin to enact measures which actually increase the supply of competent medical care, thus reducing its costs.

Nah. Too hard. Let's just keep on with doc fixes, throwing more money at the exorbitantly costly medical model we have now. That's surely going to work out well in the end.

284 "We are not alone in our trials" !914 Letter from Padre Pio to one of his spiritual advisees. "Be steadfast and firm in your faith and be on the alert for in this way you will avoid the evil snares of the enemy.....[according to] the warning given to us from the prince of Apostles, St Peter: Be Sober. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour; Resist him, firm in your faith. Ten for greater encouragement he adds: Knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of brothers and sister throughout the world." 1st Peter 5:8-9. Yes, beloved... of Jesus. renew your faith in the truths of the Christian doctrine, especially in times of conflict. And renew in a most particular way your faith in the promises of eternal life which our sweet Jesus makes to those who fight energetically and courageously. You should be encouraged and comforted by the knowledge that we are not alone in our sufferings, for all of the followers of the Nazarene scattered throughout the world suffer in the same manner and all are exposed to the trials and tribulations of life." Padre Pio who was an Italian Capuchin friar was born in the 1800's died in the 1960's and was canonized in the 1990's His life is full of remarkable things including bilocation, being seen by several people in entirely different places at the same time, stigmata-wounds which resemble the wounds of Christ, the ability to read souls-tell the sins of people he had never met who came to him for confession and ability to heal, These, however, don't make him a Saint as remarkable as they are to people who believe such things are possible, What made him a Saint was his heroic faith in Jesus Christ and his love for God and human beings.
