14 The same thing happened to the buffalo (bison) on Catalina Island. There used to be a herd of about 400. We would see them all the time and we stayed away from them with no issues. One day an idiot woman walked up to one to have her husband photographer her with it. It butted her and she sued. The Buffalo were removed from the island. Idiots.

Who picked the name elk?

"Elk" is a corruption of "elg" which IIRC is Swedish for moose.  Correct term should be "wapiti".  The pioneers slapped a lot of incorrect names on the new critters they encountered.  See also "buffalo" and "antelope".

35 I realize that this is a gross generalization, but looking around at news stories about law enforcement, at any level, and it seems that in order to be in law enforcement these days, you need to be an expert in exercising poor judgement. It's like in addition to police academy, they need to do advanced coursework in asshole studies or something. Not only law enforcement, but government in general. And the militarization of freaking everything. That can't be a good thing, could it? Seems like every damned department of the government now has an "enforcement unit" or some such thing. I just don't see anything good, or reasonable or even necessary in all of these myriad armed enforcers. Eh. I'm probably overreacting. It seems like I'm angry all of the time lately because of my attitude toward whay I perceive to be happen in - AND TO - this country. I hope to hell I'm seeing things wrongly.

Shooting and like my Zastava M57 Tokarev clone.  But it will NOT feed Wolf 7.62x25 hollowpoints, the only commercially available HP, not with any of my magazines.

Is it worth considering a feed ramp job or should I just start mucking about with handloading Hornady XTP's and  experimenting with the cartridge length to see how it feeds?

If Libertarian outlets like Cato and Reason seem to increasingly echo the beliefs of the socially liberal Silicon Valley ruling class - that's not an accident. They don't want to bite the hand that feeds them. I'd kinda wondered why, in recent years, the libertarians seemed to focus mainly on the few libertarian ideas that the Left also supports (gay marriage, pot legalization) and ignored the libertarian ideas the Left doesn't like (eliminating the minimum wage, shrinking the welfare state, leaving people free to discriminate, etc). I think Google's role as the sugar daddy behind the libertarian establishment in recent years explains a good bit of the shift. Saying certain things gets you Google Bucks, saying others doesn't. The Cato's of the world quickly learned to toe the line.

Pretty sure if that elk ever gave him a full strength headbutt he'd have fractured multiple neck vertebrae. Couple times the elk reared back to go full speed but always slowed up. Photog also lucky he didn't take an antler point to the eye or neck. What a freakin idiot.

Perhaps their fuses are too short, perhaps not, but they made a conscious decision which resulted in the feds backing down and changing course. In the end, we may well owe those folks a debt of gratitude for reminding those who would rule us that we aren't quite dead yet.

He did, however, manage to attract the elk's attention by snapping photos and looking up at inopportune moments, when he should have just hunkered down and stayed motionless. He also should have abandoned the damn tripod rather than risk his neck to retrieve it.
