Top Headline Commens 3-4-14
— Gabriel Malor

Happy Tuesday.

According to Hill sources, Obama administration is going to announce yet another Obamacare delay to help Democrat electoral chances.

Obama will unveil a budget proposal that won't go anywhere in Congress, but is also aimed at boosting the Democrats' 2014 chances. I doubt it will help them much.

These are all pretty bad, but the last two are really bad.

9 Prominent Republicans see no evidence that their partyÂ’s electoral successes have advanced the cause of limited government and moral governance.

For Republicans like Mr. McCoy, who is running for a state Assembly seat, the national party has racked up decades of compromises that have led to relentless government expansion, ever-increasing spending growth, continually mounting national debt and growing intrusiveness into the private lives of Americans.

10 Pure love is capable of great deeds, and it is not broken by difficulty or adversity. As it remains strong in the midst of great difficulties, so too it perseveres in the toilsome and drab life of each day. It knows that only one thing is needed to please God: to do even the smallest things out of great love - love, and always love. From the diary of St Faustina Kowalska.

>>Sunday was the coldest March day here in KC since they started keeping records in the 1880's. We are currently running about 45º below average.
Which is the equivalent of our temps being 45º in July.

.

.

.We aren't far behind here in Kentucky.  -3 this morning.  Daytime temps about 35 degrees below normal for the last few days.

88 Interesting that Gabe chose to highlight Buzzfeed's "take" on Russian teevee coverage of the Ukraine mess.

Seems perfectly normal to me, no more unusual or one-sided than our own media's toe-sucking coverage of Choom Boy. Wonderful and appropriate when we do it, but eeeeevil, nasty and immoral when the Russkies do?

Wow. It's like she's already gone. All that... energy (something) she exuded in every pose and word... not there at all. Or did Poppins's intro prejudice me?

Perhaps.  But it really is an odd picture.  I wonder if it was the first one Avedon took  that session, or maybe he snapped it surreptitiously when she didn't know?  The washed-out face combined with the low-cut dress really says, "Here, I know this is all you want.  So take it."  Perhaps that was the statement in regards to the price of fame Avedon was going for.

UPSPAC spends lots of money trying to decrease regulation and level the playing field between it and FedEx.

It's not a philosophical stance...it is one of expediency.

UPS is regulated using railroad regs, and FedEx is regulated as an airline, which makes it essentially much freer to act.

140 I have been told that New Orleans is a very lovely city-or many parts of it were before Katrina. I don't know how many old houses in the French Quarter stayed up. I would like to visit but during Mardi Gras has never, ever been one of those time. People engaging in excess and risking having people throw up on me, steal my wallet and try to engage in a fistfight when drunk doesn't sound remotely appealing. It's for those reasons that I avoid Times Square on New Years Eve as well. Plus it just seems sort of odd to me that people engage in this behavior which was intended as "live it up party" before the stringencies of Lent. I wonder how many people who go to Mardi Gras actively participate in Lent anyway?

The only thing that might stand in their way is that there are plenty of other people who aren't Christians who homeschool. @@@@@@@ Odds on how long it will be before churches that don't perform gay marriages will have their tax-exempt status revoked? 173 vs Founders' Axiom How wise was it for W to waste all our efforts "spreading democracy, winning the hearts and minds of our enemies" on Afghan Tribes, TARPing us bankrupt in debt and disillusionment, leaving us set up with Obama at the helm now that Europe erupts? Hell, wars aside, we tax payers paid off the transnational banks' FRAUD given the assurance that our tax funds would go to impoverished people. So? Did our "democratically" legislated TAX FUND RAID help Ukrainians, Venezuelans before this shit storm? We certainly didn't help ourselves, either. We did, however, "help" corrupt politicians rip us off for their own gains. And yes, we've lost credibility because inevitably, TOO BIG TO FAIL crashes. Bush executive ordered Paulson's Secretary of the Treasury AUTONOMOUS. Fuck the Fed. News Coverage? You want the truth?! We're not going to get truth from propagandists on either side of the iron curtain vestige. As I recall, when Michael Yon spilled the truth beans for Americans to know what the hell from the Bush Middle East Wars, he got the heavy hate treatment here. Ace and cobloggers said Yon had spent too long "over there" and lost his marbles, gone insane. For having exposed the truth Yon witnessed, he had to be crazy. Or something, given the confines of what politically correct "patriotism" MUST be, and that to disrupt one's ideology (with truth) is an unforgivable line that will experience savage backlash. Truth did not come into the world naked, but it came in types and images. The world will not receive truth in any other way. -- Gospel of Philip There are few nudities so objectionable as the naked truth. -- Agnes Repplier

I'm waiting for breathless reports of spontaneous demonstrations of party workers voicing their gratitude and joy over recent developments. Have to say though, the tu quoque thing works fairly well when the U.S. has a President making shit up as he goes along, breaking laws left and right at home, drone-striking his own citizens abroad, etc.

And it would appear they've grafted a small change purse over his right eye- in the right lighting, you can see the outlines of pennies and nickels. "Tereeeeezzza rolled her eyes and tossed him some jack to have mashed potatoes stuffed in that lantern jaw..." Nice. I was going to go with "kerry decided that chewing throw pillows would improve his visage", but mashed taters in a lantern jaw trumps.

Some customer remarked about the prices, or something, and daughter replied, no, they're nice socks, but the label says they were made with wind power? 266 Only a matter of time. http://tinyurl.com/ocpodqw London Mayor Calls For State to Take Children Based on Parents’ Political Beliefs Writing in his weekly column, Johnson said that, “The law should obviously treat radicalisation as a form of child abuse.” While the idea is being promoted under the ostensibly reasonable justification that it will stop children being turned into “potential killers or suicide bombers,” Johnson said it could also be applied under more vague circumstances, such as if the child is taught to be “full of hate.” The Mayor said that children whose parents are supporters of the British National Party, a right-wing organization that vehemently opposes immigration, may be taken into care in “extreme” circumstances. Bet I know one radicalized group that will be untouched by this.
