Happy SnowPatrick's Day.

The Most Transparent Administration EverTM has won the distinction of -- more than ever -- censoring or outright denying access to files under the Freedom of Information Act.

Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs had a moment of candor about the lack of candor from the White House on the possibility of losing the Senate: "I did the same thing a few years ago on your show and I still have tire tracks from Nancy Pelosi for saying what I thought."

Folks over at the Federalist noticed Obama's insane rambling about who is at fault for the high costs of the Unaffordable Care Act. Spoiler: it's Texas.

In foreign policy news, Crimea's parliament declared independence after the referendum at gunpoint. Formal recognition of the annexation of Crimea by Russia is expected to quickly follow.

That is, if I wished to go that route.

52 First of all medicaid is bankrupting every state as it is, and the aca only bankrolls 100% of the expanded portion which reduces ovet time and will leave a gigantic hole in the budgets of states that accepted the expansion. When the fed portion begins to dry up those states are going to have to either throw people off medicaid or jack taxes up exorbitantly. Either way obama is an asshole and so are the people who put this evil fuck in office.

75 Black and tan, you call it? Tells me what kind of Irish you are...

In the Easter Uprising, the "occupying" English and their militia (The Black and Tans) had a sudden need for mobile armor. The Arthur Guinness concern had some large new beer tanks just sitting there, and they just happened to fit on some available truck frames. With firing slits, they made efficient "crowd control" units. And that is where the term "tank" came from.

Certain true sons of the old sod never forgave Guinness their involvement.
There is a history to Jameson's and Bushmill's as well. Before you go loudly ordering in a "real" Irish bar, you just might want to read up on that.

76 Has anyone else seen academia start covering the Administration's bottom on the IRS targeting thing?

A lecture at Brown U's description:

The IRS has been accused of targeting the tax returns of ideological nonprofits -- particularly those who criticize the current administration -- for extra scrutiny. She will demonstrate a link between county residents' government disapproval and their level of tax evasion.

I'm afraid I don't know how to link.

160 WASHINGTON — In the predawn hours of July 18, 1966, Lance Cpl. Patrick (Bob) Gallagher was a long way from his home in County Mayo, Ireland, which he had left a few years earlier to live with an aunt in Lynbrook, L.I., and seek new opportunity in America. He was manning a defensive position near Cam Lo, Vietnam, with three fellow Marines when an enemy grenade suddenly landed nearby. Gallagher reflexively kicked it away, and it exploded at a distance. A second grenade fell between two of Gallagher’s comrades. He dove on it to shield them as they fled to safety. Then a third and fourth grenade landed and exploded — but the one beneath Gallagher did not. RELATED: NEW YORK CITY'S ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE SET TO KICK OFF He got up and hurled it into a nearby river, where it detonated as it hit the water’s surface. For his heroism, Gallagher received the Marine Corps’ second-highest honor, the Navy Cross. Sadly, the 22-year-old’s luck would not last. Eight months later, just weeks before he was to leave Vietnam, he was killed in a firefight in Da Nang. Gallagher is believed to be the war’s highest-decorated Irish immigrant, and the story of his bravery has lived on, retold by Vietnam vets, especially Irish-Americans, as perhaps it will be again this St. Patrick’s Day. Now, a movement is growing to honor Gallagher in a more permanent way, by getting the military to name a ship after him, and issue a posthumous Medal of Honor. FYI

Kasparov has also stated that if the JEF had been Preznit instead of Reagan in the 80s, there would still be a Soviet Union.  Contrary to what a lot of libs have said, that it "would've happened anyway" and it was just a coincidence that it happened under RR instead of Carter, for example.

195 Russian arms officials will arrive in the United States on Monday to conduct an inspection of U.S. strategic nuclear facilities amid heightened tensions over MoscowÂ’s military incursion into Ukraine and a U.S. ultimatum to withdraw the forces. Additionally, a team of Russian arms inspectors are set to arrive in San Francisco for the treaty-permitted inspection that will take place days after Moscow threatened to cancel similar U.S. inspections in Russia. The go-ahead for the inspection, which is being kept officially secret under rules outlined in the 2010 New START treaty, reflects the administrationÂ’s national security priority of supporting arms control treaties despite recent disclosures that Russia has failed to comply with several nuclear and military accords. RussiaÂ’s state-run RIA Novosti news agency reported March 8 that the Defense Ministry is considering a ban on U.S. nuclear inspections under the New START treaty if the administration suspends military cooperation with Russia over the Ukraine invasion. A State Department spokesman had no immediate comment. Not sure we can last 3 more years

201 Christians in the U.S. military are being told they must forfeit their First Amendment rights. Bible verses are being erased from cadetsÂ’ personal dorm-room white boards, and military lawyers claim that legal protections for religion only pertain to matters such as clothing and growing beards but do not extend to any religious expression such as talking about one's faith or posting a Bible verse. Last year Breitbart News broke the story of a campaign by anti-Christian extremists to suppress traditional Christian expression within the U.S. military. There were conflicting stories regarding the possible court martial of service members who share the gospel of Jesus Christ and confirmed reports of military chaplains being officially censored, as well as Bibles temporarily banned from the Walter Reed military hospital. After these stories went viral on the Internet, Republicans in Congress launched an investigation, then introduced legislation to specify that religious expression is a protected right for men and women serving in uniform. Although President Obama originally threatened to veto the legislation, those protections were signed into law in December 2013. Now these new protections are being put to their first test. Military officers at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs are saying that the Obama-Hagel Pentagon does not regard these new protections as encompassing religious speech or writing. As such, cadets are not allowed to post Bible verses on their personal white boards in their dorm rooms. obama hates anything that made America great and, like it or not, Religion ( although not islam) has made America what it once was

219 125. FenelonSpoke, I tried unsuccessfully to like that musical effort. If they hadn't made a mess of a simple prayer inserting everything but the kitchen sink to cover all bases, I'd vote 1 thumb up for effort. Very fascinating history, Ireland. The various Celtic Tribes had emigrated Westward to the Atlantic from the Balkans originally, some settling along the way. It wasn't as if there ever were a pact between the tribes, given their constant warfare amongst "themselves". Contrary to our post-modern sensibilities, American in particular, they weren't utterly at a loss as to their origins and what they'd left behind, WHO they left behind, and what-and-who they'd migrated through en route to the coastal settlements that they variously established along the entire Atlantic, from below the proto-Viking territories, south all the way to northern Africa completing their tribal migration nearly encircling the Mediterranean by heading eastward from Morocco back towards the Berber region, part of the region that remained independent from Rome and included the Greek emigrants establishing the competing empire v. Rome. By the time the Celtic "Cruthin" barbarous warrior tribes were well established and populated in Ireland with chieftain kings, each wanting to be 'King of the Mountain', Ireland was rife with tribal wars when Patrick returned to preach Roman Catholicism. Timing is everything. Fields ripe, ready to harvest. http://tinyurl.com/ly5mfhb http://tinyurl.com/98qt5yb Skellig Michael is home to a 6th Century monastic settlement. This complex is perched on the steep sides of the larger of the two Skellig Islands, some 12 km off the coast of south-west Ireland. It illustrates the very spartan existence of the first Irish Christians. Since the extreme remoteness of Skellig Michael has until recently discouraged visitors, the site is exceptionally well preserved. That said, its precarious landscape didn't prevent the Vikings from raiding the isolated Skelligs as well as more prosperous non-monastic settlements along the coasts.

But... You know the saying, if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans? I had some things I really wanted to do before this anniversary, but instead, these past few days were filled with Real Life Family Drama (however manufactured or unnecessary it might be). Good thing hitting my website goals doesn't matter to anyone but me. Content, then!
