Note: that cryptic line of letters and numbers you see underneath each board diagram is a representation of the position in what is known as "Forsyth-Edwards Notation", or F.E.N. It's actually readable by humans. Most computer applications nowadays can read FEN, so those of you who may want to study the position, you can copy the line of FEN and paste into your chess app and it should automatically recreate the position on its display board. Or, Windows users can just "triple click" on it and the entire line will be highlighted so you can copy and paste it into your chess app.

So that about wraps it up for this week. Chess thread tips, suggestions, bribes, rumors, threats, and insults may be sent to my yahoo address: OregonMuse little-a-in-a-circle yahoo dott com.

70 I've been forgetting sunscreen and getting burned several times this week.  This morning for the shootin' match I remembered.

Good news is today's match was fun - 6 stages instead of 4, much more steel.  The kind I'll actually get up and drive for.

Was able to do 2 quick mag dumps with the XD9 after (shot the 1911 today), to confirm pistol is functioning, and it's my last batch of reloads that's the issue (it was failing to eject, cycle, and feed this past week at the range).  One mag of factory and one mag of my previous 9mm reloads - no issues.  So it's the last batch that's light.  Gonna switch in my old spring, see if they work that way, otherwise one of my RO buddies who's always giving me stuff will get 300 rounds gratis.

Last time we had redistricting, some Dem gerrymandering genius redrew the lines so that most Oregon state congressional districts contained just enough Democrats to offset any potential GOP advantage, even in the rural counties. Which is why there state legislature is super-majority Democrat.

Getting a good seal is very difficult with a mask, even a N95 one.
We know about chemical masks,  and OBAs / SCBA masks.  Totally different thing, normally with a plastic transparent faceplate.  Those have a rubber seal at the edges of the mask.   Suck in and the face plate compresses against your face.
Even the cheapie chemical masks without vision protection seal tight.  Well, as long as your beard is trimmed.
Cloth, not so much.

We are talking about a government that has been weaponized against Western Civilization, where they lie all the time about pretty much everything and we are expected to believe them this time even when they feel absolutely no obligation to substantiate any of their claims.

I thought it was interesting, and it only makes more sense now when the GSA approached my company and asked us to help them determine public NPI compliance.   The contract was supposed to be granted in October of 2020 and run until September of 2021 with possible extensions.    That is, the contract would be awarded four months after the peak of CoViD, six months to build a working model, and then the remainder of the time gathering and reporting results.

Understand, this was a high-dollar contract that the former US government wanted to study and report on continued compliance  a year after the pandemic already ended.

It has never been about health.

I am biased towards the stuff I got in Calabria on the side of the road. They have lemons that are obviously raised for the zest, they are not normal lemons. When I was like 7 or 8, I walked to the liquor store by myself to buy candy.
It was normal to see a group of kids riding their bikes around with no adults.
Kids used to be able to, once they got home from school, go wherever the fuck the wanted with their friends for hours at a time with no adults anywhere near them.
Kids, for many good reasons, have been under a lockdown more severe than any you know, for like four decades.

for starters, it was moderate Repub, ala Stan Parris.  But more than that, it was pro America at every turn. You had military, serious government workers, Koreans, South Vietnamese. The place exuded freedom and prosperity when other areas were really dealing with issues. Even Texas was boom and bust during that time. But NoVA was a great place to live and a better place to grow up. That is what makes what happened to it so sad, the left worked very hard to screw that place up.

That's kind of a worldwide thing.

The Japanese make umeshu in the Spring which is Japanese ume plums with I think black sugar and shochu though you could certainly use vodka.

The Limeys make Sloe Gin in the Spring which is sloe (plums) plus gin plus sugar.

So, anything goes I'd guess.

244   Philip was a Land Rover man. Reading about him the other day (and do look up his "gaffes" -- the man was a royal Archie Bunker and a riot), he had to stop driving his beloved Land Rovers.
Contrast this with how we treat our "royalty" (Mark Steyn has made this point often), the queen and Prince Philip did things like drive themselves and do normal things all the time. At one of their country estates, Philip and the queen would drive around the country.
They do have bodyguards around, basically local police, one of whom told tales of her hearing Philip yell to Her Majesty, "Where's my bloody keys?!" "Where you left them!", the queen would reply.
Anyway, Philip was driving around and pulled out of some side road onto main road right in front of another car, which smashed into him and rolled him over. Land Rover was totaled, but Philip was all right, as well as everyone in the other car.
Philip couldn't see because of glare (which becomes a real problem with elderly eyes). The queen and the local police chief had to have a talk with him, and get him to give up his keys. He reluctantly agreed.

In the back of my truck bed
As I was gettin' buzzed on suds
Out on some back country road.
We where flying high
Fine as wine, having ourselves a big and rich time
And I was going, just about as far as she'd let me go.
But her evaluation
Of my cowboy reputation
Had me begging for salvation
All night long
So I took her out giggin frogs
Introduced her to my old bird dog
And sang her every Willie Nelson song I could think of

He served in the Royal Nave from 1939 - 1945 ... there's an interview with him on it.

He, very politely, destroyed the interviewer at every politically correct question.

I am a Texan, but my family has long ties with VA.  Nothing wrong with being from somewhere else, that was the case with many if not most 40 years ago. But people went there for a purpose and for the most part, they seemed like patriots. That might be pie in the sky, but I can honestly say that is what I experienced. The place was successful, and in the end pro America. What has gone on there over the last decade is truly strange and abysmal. I don't blame you for wanting to go back home. For many, it is home and I feel badly for them. Someone wrecked one of the best parts of this country. And they did it by design.

Admiral Cunningham had his battle line which included the battleship HMS Valiant close to within 3,000 yards of the obviously oblivious Italian cruisers Zara, Pola, and Fiume and engaged them in a night gun battle.

Philip was on a searchlight platform aboard HMS Valiant and despite Italian efforts to knock out the lights kept the Fascists ships pinned down in their glare.

281 Pfft, you people and your childhood memories of yesteryear.

Sheesh, all I did was fish off the rocks, with my dad and a bunch of other kids and their dads, when the perch were running off the coast of CA.

Then, during trout season, again, I, dad, a bunch of friends and their kids, well, we'd take off to the nearest river and spend the day fishing.

During the evenings, a bunch of us neighborhood kids would sometimes gather and play "Hide and Go Seek."

Shoot, we'd sometimes grab our bikes and fishing poles and head off fishing. We'd even bring home fish once in a while.

I feel like I was deprived, growing up, what with the lack of internet and whatnot.

HAHAHAHA

Not really.

290    Another funny one that happened at that royal country estate. The queen would regularly go for walks, and outside the gates. She'd have one bodyguard go around with her, and she'd go wherever the hell she wanted.
They were coming back to go in one of the gates, and encountered an American tourist couple taking pictures and such. There's a town nearby, and some hotels, and these country estates are a tourist attraction.
The queen was dressed like some normal little old lady, wearing a head scarf and shawl, and her bodyguard looked some regular old chap, perhaps her son or something. The queen struck up a conversation with the couple asking them where they were from and all that, and they had a nice little conversation.
The couple asked the queen if she lived around here, and she said yes, pretty close by. Then they asked her if she had ever seen the queen. The queen said, no she hadn't, but he has, pointing to her bodyguard.  They said their goodbyes, and the queen walked on back through the gate.
