— CAC Three contests I've received emails about in one big state: the Republican primary for U.S. Senator, where incumbent Senator John Cornyn had been facing at least the possibility of a runoff race with Rep. Steve Stockman, though that seems very unlikely at thist point; the Republican primary for Lt. Governor, where incumbent David Dewhurst faces the risk of a runoff race; and TX-32, where incumbent representative Pete Sessions faces a potential threat from Tea Party-backed Katrina Pierson. I expect incumbents to win in all three, though I think Dewhurst is the most vulnerable.
Next week, we really kick things off at the Decision Desk with the hotly contested special election to fill Florida's 13th congressional district.
Results will be put in the thread below.
Note: stopped tracking at 1015pm EST- all races look resolved (either wins or heading towards runoffs), see below

Movies have it all wrong. The 'thumbs up' gesture means a death sentence, and the 'thumbs down' gesture grants life. Why?
Because 'thumbs down' signifies sheathing one's sword, and 'thumbs up' is the sign of drawing one's sword.
I've read the only reference to this is ambiguous. It says something about a "pressed thumb". That could be anything. They could be putting their thumb on their forehead for all you know.

The lakes don't need to freeze to the bottom. The Ice and snow get thick enough to block out all the light which causes a depletion in Oxygen which kills them off. By the time they hit the shore in spring only Eagles and other scavengers will eat them.

I tend to view such things as being merely possibly useful agitprop.
The radicals in black robes have made it clear they'll slap down all such attempts from the federal level.
But, reminding ordinary voters about just how much power the black-robed federal radicals have arrogated unto themselves, that is still a healthy thing. It will get at least a few of those voters to wondering and then acting.

222 Yeah, Dewhurst's impending loss is much harsher than I was expecting. I think losing to Cruz hurt his credibility with conservative voters. Posted by: Lauren [/]
Not only that, but a lot of Tea Party support was absolutely trashed by Dewhurst killing many very popular initiatives in the most recent legislature and a LOT of conservatives were watching. I'm glad he showed his colors and is paying the price. There is more work to do, but getting Dewhurst out of the legislature, much less the leadership will be sooper awesome,... just sayin'

I voted on Friday, and was proud to vote against Bush, Dewhurst and Cornyn.
The thundering egos of seven contenders against Cornyn, who couldn't decide amongst 'em who best to run, sunk their mutual chances.
Cornyn is just a younger John McLame, minus the previous heroics.

I have a guy as well.
When he told me he was going to wear a kilt for some occasion, I asked him if he needed a sporan, and he looked at me like I was retarded.
He smokes bourbon for some of his cocktails.

The operative word here is "might"
Let me check with my bookie in Veh-gas to see what the odds are on that. Past performance usually indicates what will happen in the future.

It's a rare pleasure; a great bartender who knows what you want next before you do. And one who can pace the evening so when you stand up you are happy and lucid and, perhaps, a wiser man than before.

Dan Patrick isn't a bad conservative, and might even be a passable Tea Party type, on occasion. I'd take him over Dewhurst, for sure.
But, he's kind of a Sean Hannity conservative. A mile wide, but only an inch deep.
He's also more of a socon, than he is anything else. I've never known him to lead the charge on Second Amendment issues, at all. He's pretty big into right to life, defense of religion issues, stuff like keeping the pledge and prayer in the schools. Not that those are bad things, per se, but they're not the issues that are going to make any change to the Shipwreck of State that we're at present, embarked upon.
So, I'll hold my nose and vote for him in a runoff against Dewhurst, if need be. And I'll always vote for him against any and all Dems.
Tomorrow's headlines will be...........interesting?

Just before 9pm local with 16% of precincts reporting, the challenger Simpson leads the incumbent Woodfill 51% to 40% for the Harris County GOP Chair.
Change is in the air.

Stockman has had funny financial stuff going on in and around his campaigns for many years. He has perpetually been running for offices he knew he was going to lose - got lucky (?) in '94 with the anti-Hillarycare wave, then got thrown out in '96. I thought he had matured this last time (2010) and was going to be a real Congressman, but now he's up to his old antics. I honestly think he lives better as a perpetual losing candidate than as an elected official, so he doesn't really want to win any of these races.
As noted above, Dan Patrick is a mile wide and an inch deep. He's not a master of anything except promoting Dan Patrick, and running the State Senate is a job for detail guys who can twist arms and trade favors. You know, sausage and all that. If he wins, he will not be effective as Lieutenant Governor. But he has pledged to remove the 2/3 rule, so that's not all bad.

Woodfill needed to go. He was strong Socon but not Tea Party. He has not recruited precinct chairs and let the grassroots wither. He was funneling money through pay-to-play mailers to keep his buddies in and keep out people who would challenge his leadership (things like an audit of where the County party money is going). Worst of all, he lost Harris County to the Democrats in the last 3 election cycles and doesn't see how all the above relates to that abysmal performance. The Party is more than Paul Pressler and John Hotze.

Update: At 10:30 pm local with 88% of precincts reporting, challenger Simpson leads incumbent Woodfill 52.8% to 37.4% and 17,400 votes.
