— Ace Via "someone," from NRO's The Corner:
FROM A FRIEND AT A CABLE NETWORK [Ramesh Ponnuru]
"The mood just became sour. Everyone thinks Bush just swept Ohio, FL, and will be re-elected decisively based on readjusted exit polling."
Note the "readjusted" part, says "someone."
Knock wood. Spit, spit. (Alarming News told me the "spit, spit" part. I don't know if that helps ward bad karma away, but I'm willing to try.)
And... Bushies claim they keep New Hampshire?
Great Balls of Fire. I wrote New Hampshire off in June.

— Ace As does Arkansas, if there was much doubt about that.

— Ace Well, that's nice.
But what about Ohio?

— Ace I can't link it all, but just go to the Corner and KerrySpot for a taste. It appears that the exit polls really might be entirely wrong -- and all too favorable to Kerry -- and that Bush might actually be cruising to relatively-comfortable wins in Ohio and Florida, with the shot of winning several upper midwest Gore states to boot.
KerrySpot says the demeanor of the whole Fox panel has changed in the last hour. Kristol and Barnes up, Juan Williams shouting Spanish curses at the sound-man.
Knock wood. Knock, knock, knock on wood, baby.
Serious Problems With Exit Polls:
From KerrySpot:
The exit polls show the national electorate at 57% female when in 2000 it was 52/48.The President is winning men in exit polls by only 4-points. The last battleground poll this morning showed him winning men by 12 points.
H/t to "someone."

— Ace Just like in 2000, he says that in several states this time around -- like Virginia -- the exit polls indicate a tight race, too close to call, whereas the actual votes indicate a fairly comfortable Bush win.
Food. For. Thought.
Update: Barrone: Republicans squeezing more votes out of Florida than expected
Kondracke: Exit polls predicted Kerry win in FL, 42-48, but actual county voting doesn't match up, and may suggest Bush win
Exit polls in PA ridiculous, showing 58-42 Kerry edge; Kerry will almost certainly win PA, but by smaller margin, suggesting again that exit pollsters have consistently over-sampled liberals
Which makes sense. Look, this is a liberal kind of job -- college kid, etc. -- and they sort of gravitate to each other.
But we'll have to see.
Could be a very long night, kids.
But! My Pet Jawa says the big Democratic counties in Florida haven't reported yet.
You need an awfully big cushion to absorb the huge D votes from Miami-Dade.

— Ace They're not calling them yet, but....
Ohio voters give Bush a 50% approval rating, 49% disapproval.
That's tight.
But last time I checked, 50% was bigger than 49%. The alligator goes right after the 50% and slaps the 49% in the mouth with its tail.
In Florida, Bush gets 55% of the Hispanic vote to Kerry's 45%.
This seems like good news to me. No? Answer: Not necessarily. Bush had wanted 60%. Answer: Yes. See update.
On the other hand: Kerry's doing very well with military familes. Bush is beating him, but not by the margin he should be beating him by.
Update-- Kristol Corrects: Bush didn't expect to win 60% of Hispanics. Last time, in 2000, he won Hispanics 50-48. So 55% is a marked improvement.

— Ace Still doesn't mean anything, but that's what the numbers show so far.
Based upon these numbers -- and we have little idea how accurate they are -- Bush is losing every swing state except CO, and he's losing the national race 51-48.

— Ace What took them so long? Well, we've seen this before. Last time around, the exit pollsters and the liberal media were right-quick to call states for Gore, but dang, they took their sweet old time calling states for Bush. They'd call a Gore state where he was 7 ahead of Bush hours before a Bush state where he was 12 head.

— Ace No big surprise. Damn, I wanted New Jersey like I haven't wanted anything since Kim Richards.
Correction: I said Fox had called VA for Bush. I was wrong. They hadn't and they still haven't.

— Ace Yeah, so what else is new? But tonight's not a night for arguing. Tonight is a night for either sobbing or gloating.
The fact that Juan Williams won't shut the eff up about WMD fills me with hope. If he was confident the people had bought his stupid leftist blatherings, he wouldn't still be repeating them.
