CNN: WV for Bush!
— Ace

Not a complete surprise, but a state that would have indicated a Bush loss had it gone for Kerry.

Sweeeeeeeeeet!

Tonight's Schedule
— Ace

Okay, I don't know if I'm providing a service here. I'm basically just repeating what's on TV or other blogs. I'm going to take a little break, and see if I can think of anything more interesting to contribute.

I probably won't be able to think of anything more interesting, but I'll be back anyway, posting stupid shit, as usual.

William Kristol: "It may be a little early to say Virginia is too close to call"
— Ace

Kristol wonders whether VA is legitimately contested or if it's just some problem with the exit pollers getting their data together. He says, though, that if we still can't project VA by 8, it might be bad news for Bush nationally.

I don't know if I agree. For one thing, my good friend Hoke Malokey warned us that VA was more in play than assumed -- Northern Virginia is notoriously liberal.

For another, VA looked somewhat in play a few weeks ago, too.

And lastly-- think of it like this. Bush has only so many voters. He's not going to get much more than 50% of the vote nationally. Given that upper boundary, wouldn't you rather that more of his pool of voters turned out to be in, say, Ohio, rather than being wasted in southern states on big margins of victory?

Yeah, you're thinking that's goofy. But think about it. It makes sense.

Just like a football team would rather score 30 points a game than, say, 480 points in one game and zero in all others.

KerrySpot Bristling With Confidence
— Ace

A lot of confidence. Like, knock-on-wood overconfidence.

The race is over; Bush holds Ohio and Florida. Bush wins. So says an anonymous source in the Bush camp to RedState.

Wisconsin too.

Hat tip to Travelling Shoes.

Which seems like a redundancy, I've got to say. Travelling shoes? As opposed to what? All shoes travel. That's why you put them on.

And Even More From KerrySpot: Source at CBS tells Geraghty that the state is easily callable, but for some reason, the networks aren't willing to do so.

Then again, FoxNews isn't calling it, either.

First Projections from Fox...
— Ace

Possible trouble...

GA, KY, IN go to Bush as predicted, but VA and SC remain... too close to call at 7:01.

Issakson is a GOP pick-up in GA.

More Liveblogging: Dave from Garfield Ridge is also liveblogging.

Hack Attack on Conservative Blogs?
— Ace

Gee, so surprising from our liberal friends, the passionate defenders of the right to free speech (their own, that is, and no one else's).

Thanks to the Fat Kid.

Or, Maybe Not: Readers tell me that some "weenie blogs" are down, too, plus most of these outages seem connected to Hosting Matters, which hasn't said anything about a DoD attack.

And some down sites are back up.

So, I don't know. I guess I made a wild-eyed, unsubstantiated attack on my opponents.

Which is pretty much the entire point of this blog.

Body Language of Fox's Political Roundtable
— Ace

...is tough to guage. I think most of them really don't know who's winning or losing. Brit seems sorta upbeat, but that might just be that he's keen for a good story. Kristol seems dour and depressed and ready to rip Bush a new one, but then, when doesn't he seem like that?

Kristol now saying if Bush loses, he lost because of his unnerving performance in his first debate. Other panelists joining in. They seem to be writing the story, "Kerry Wins; Bush Gave it Away in Debate."

Kondracke blames assumed loss on Bush's failure to use Face the Nation quote against Kerry in ad ("to not vote for the $87 billion would be reckless").

Now they're discussing the no-WMD-story as a reason for Bush's "possible" loss.

But remember: Nobody knows anything. This trick of reading bodylanguage only works in the normal election, in which the journalists have a pretty good idea of who's winning but they withhold it from the audience.

They don't necessarily know anything more than any of us at this point.

But they do sound like they're doing a postmortem on Bush.

Catholics, Hispanics Strong For Bush
— Ace

Apparently this comes from Bush HQ, so consider the possible bias.

Still-- sweet.

And something else to keep in mind. Bush squeaked a "W" in 2000 with a 4% deficit in party ID; now that deficit is down to 1%.

Kerry Losing in Oregon?
— Ace

KerrySpot says they seemed worried.

Then again, I seem worried. My dog seems worried. Who the hell isn't worried?
