Iraqi Civilian Tips Lead To Arrest of Six Terrorists
— Ace

The ACLU immediately protested what it calls "the Iraqi version of the Stalinist TIPS program," previously known as "asking people questions about a crime."

This happened over the weekend, but I didn't notice. Six suspects detained in shooting of helicopter carrying civilian passengers:

The Iraqi civilian told soldiers he knew where a blue pickup truck used in the attack was parked and led them to the site, the military said. When the soldiers reached the area, several other local residents confirmed the initial tip and showed them where the suspects lived, the statement said.

Soldiers started to search two houses at 12:30 a.m. (4:30 p.m. EDT Friday). At the first house, three men were captured and bomb-making materials were seized. At the second house, three more suspects were detained, the military said.

Sounds like somebody else should start working on an exit strategy.

Thanks to Weaver posting at The Perfect World. His post is followed up by the typical whining by one of the most despicable persons I've ever come across:

The article doesn't say whether it is Shiite civilians using US troops to persecute Sunnis, which would further inflame sectarian violence.

Yeah. Okay.

It occurred to me that maybe the left is simply too punch drunk to think rationally, or even humanely, anymore. Maybe Bush needs to let them "win" one, like you do with a child when playing Candyland. Then maybe they'll go back to simply being annoying and hateful, rather than affirmatively anti-human.

Humor, The Best Medicine
— Ace

Unless you're sick or something. In which case you should probably get something prescribed. I wouldn't put all of your hopes for a recovery on some chuckles.

However, this is a pretty good one, and poses the question (as Kadnine asks), "Are there South Park Muslims, too?"

PS: Doctor "Patch" Adams is/was a retard, and so is Robin Williams.

Colin Powell: An Overdue Re-Examination
— Ace

The man's been wrong on just about every crucial military or foreign policy question of the past 15 years -- which of course earns him the adulation of the media, who are happy to have company in being so grossly wrong time and time again.

It's a blowtorch to the man's unearned reputation, and it's about time.

Ed Lasky of the American Thinker is on f'n' fire.

Thanks to JimW.

The last of the Syrian soldiers bugged out, and they took the heads of the secret police with them.

All right... who wants some? Who's next?

Maggie Gyllenhyllenhallenaal (Whatever) Sticks By Her Obnoxiously Stupid Remarks
— Ace

Moderate cuteness is only skin-deep, but stupid runs deep to the marrow.

The fun thing is this moron has her blog (linked by The New Vintage, above). (Corrected; see below). Who doesn't anymore?

The blogosphere was once made up completely of shut-ins, shiftless drifters, schizophrenics in halfway houses, Star Trek geeks and porn-addicted deviants (the latter two categories largely overlapping, natch).

Now we've got b-actresses and Arianna Huffington and Tina F'n' Brown... there goes the neighborhood.

Not quite our class, dear. A bit of a low-rent group, even for me.

PS: Maggie Gyllenhyllenhallenhaal (whatever) shut down her comments (shock!), so don't think there's any fun to be had there. A liberal in good standing, she makes the standard "I love freedom of speech as much as the next moron" disclaimer before concluding that sometimes, love just ain't enough.

Next post by Mags: "I will do everything in my power to make sure my son grows up to be stupid, rather than some meatheaded non-stupid person. If it takes feeding him soy milk spiked with powerful psychotropics and household cleaning products, so be it. But I find stupid men much more interesting than the non-stupid, because at least I can understand every third or fourth word they say."

CORRECTION: This appears to be a fan-blog, not Mags' blog. I guess I just sorta was looking at you and I thought...

Well, in any event, she soon will be blogging, on Arianna Huffington's Def Celebrity Jam.

More Great News!

"Mike," from Landfair Furniture & Moving Co., apparently "just discovered [my] site" and furthermore, he "really likes it"!

He's made me the generous offer of allowing me to link his furniture & moving company website-- which is just f'n' kismet if you want to know the truth of it, because I've been noticing the ol' blogroll is a bit thin when it comes to furnishings and professional moving companies.

Thanks, Mike! I like your website too! Keep those well-wishes coming! And I hope you continue reading the Ace of Spades HQ blog, where the world comes to read about quality furniture at discount prices!

LA Times: Nuke the Filibuster

It's a sad day when Michael Kinsley makes more sense, and shows more balls, than Rick Santorum.

Or a happy day? Oh, who cares. Read the stupid thing. Thanks to Hammertime.

Florida Cracker has the details on this unexpected friendship.

Everyone's saying it's a cute story, so I won't be the dick to contradict them.

Thanks to Bill from InDC, who runs a good blog when he's not all up my nostrils.

The LA Times Did Something Remarkable: It Biased-Up Its Lead Graf
— Ace

Now that's good bias:

WASHINGTON — The president invited the small group of Republican congressmen to his living room on the second floor of the White House — not the formal offices he usually presides over — to talk about Social Security. While his guests sipped soda and munched peanuts, he did something even more remarkable.

He listened to them. He took criticism from them. For the better part of an hour, President Bush — who has been accused of taking a "my way or the highway" approach to Congress — was all ears.

President Bush Holds Meeting
Appears to be Functionally Literate

President Bush held a top level meeting with White House staffers on Tuesday. Halfway through the meeting, the president, who has been accused by some critics of having the IQ of a damp athletic sock, shocked attendees by picking up a staff memo and reading it aloud.

"He not only read it," an anonymous staffer marveled, "but appeared to comprehend the written word. I saw his brow furrow at one point, so I could tell he was processing the information."

Or pretending to, at least. Sometimes my dog used to watch MacNeill/Lehrer with me, but I'm pretty sure she was just trying to curry favor and wheedle me out of a few of my Combos.

Two Cool Things
— Ace

First cool thing: Check out the ad for Rightalk in the sidebar. They're advertising the show that doesn't yet exist, and, even better, they've wisely chosen to play down the existence of this "Karol" person who'll be tangentially involved.

Second cool thing: I don't want to get up hopes... I don't think that such a thing is even possible... but My Pet Jawa just sent me work-around code that he claims will allow this site to finally remember your name, email, and website URL.

Web-Diva is taking a look at it to see if this miracle can actually happen.
