— Ace Looking at Polipundit's traffic today, I can't help noticing the enormous spike in traffic he got from giving Lorie Byrd (and others?) the boot.
So, you know.
I really don't know what LauraW's politics are. I have no idea what she posts about. Never read a single word she's written.
I imagine, though, that like all other women, she writes mostly about boyfriends, babies, and menses. And of course occasionally she chances a spring awakening.
But whatever she's writing about, I don't like it. I don't like that my posts are constantly being contradicted by her. I started this blog to present a single, unified message to the world -- periods are friggin' annoying -- and I won't have her undermining that.
So, she's gone.
Harry and Tanker, you are either with me, or you are with the terrorists.

— Ace Urban legend? Hoax? Well, there's definitely rats in this girl's toilet, though I suppose she could have just put them there in order to get some crazy blog-traffic.

— Ace MAJOR CORRECTION: CNN's URL didn't end in "wag my dog." Someone faked a page with the article which had that "wag my dog" at the end.
But it was a hoax, or a joke by a tech-savvy dope.
I've been had, and I passed bad information on to you. I apologize.
Rob and Allah both have updated their posts to reflect this.
Sheesh, that update couldn't have been more poorly timed.
I think Karl Rove is behind this, somehow.
Original post follows.
...
Soooooo... it's not just the DU moonbats. CNN, too, questions the timing, and suggests, as in the movie Wag the Dog, the video is falsified and/or intended as a distraction from the "real issues."
Remember, though, that the media is far too right-wing and Republican-friendly, as the very brave demigod Steven Colbert tells us.
Gee, Could This Be Related?: Another CNN techie just happens to "accidntally" run Bush's rehearsal on live TV, showing him looking silly (as most people do during rehearsals).
Pretty strong evidence about the political culture at CNN. People know what they can and can't get away with at work. I think the "wag my dog" techie mistook exactly what he could get away with -- CNN will have to discipline him or even fire him to make a pretense of being against such naked political bias -- but it nevertheless demonstrates that the culture at CNN is rabidly anti-Republican.
You couldn't do this in a politically balanced organization. You'd know you'd be read the riot act.
But at CNN, the political bias on-screen is undergirded by an even more rabid political bias backstage, and the constant reinforcement of the core message, with no one objecting, that Bush is Evil and Must Be Brought Low By Any Means Necessary, leads to crap like this.

— Ace Fox News didn't have the breakdown of recommendations quite right.
A majority of faculty on a University of Colorado committee investigating Prof. Ward Churchill's academic record agree that Churchill committed serious research misconduct that warrants him being fired. The committee, which consists of five faculty members, will present their recommendations at 2:30 p.m. on the Boulder campus.
In the long-awaited report on allegations of research misconduct against Churchill, an ethnic studies professor, one committee member says Churchill's penalty for the misconduct should be being fired. Two others, who agree that while there is enough misconduct to warrant a termination of employment, said they recommend that Churchill's misconduct instead result in a suspension without pay for 5 years.
The final two members of the committee recommend that Churchill be suspended without pay for 2 years.
Earlier on Tuesday, Churchill said he had not seen the report and did not know what it said. Churchill has denied wrongdoing.
University officials have already determined that Churchill could not be fired for his comments in which he likened some Sept. 11 victims to a Nazis, but they launched an inquiry into the allegations about potential plagiarism and fabrication in his research.
"Research." The guy's "research" consists of watching Pocahontas frame-by-frame, looking for the outline of a nipple.
Thanks to some moron.

— Ace At Hot Air.
Be aware that the video does not clearly show the plane hitting the Pentagon. That's to be expected, of course; if there were a clear shot, we would have seen the still by now.
Allah does post a still of the nosecone of the plane. But, of course, that is completely fake. Rove got Pixar to do that particular frame; you can tell it's not real because the jet bears the unlikely serial number "ICE AGE 2 COMING 2 DVD."
For those who have any doubts that high-speed objects may not be captured clearly by video, I'd direct them to this debunking of the "Rod UFO" hoax/delusion. Or this one.
In case you don't know about that silliness, a guy videotaping some base jumpers claimed he proved the existence of UFOs, because strange "rods" appeared in his video, apparently moving hundreds (or maybe thousands!) of miles per hour.
The "rods" were just bugs, looking elongated and rodlike through distortion of the video. They weren't big objects moving thousands of miles per hour a thousand miles away; they were tiny objects moving 10 feet per second two or three feet away.
No matter that people photographing tiny wasps in their garden have observed they appear to be "rods" on video or film. The rods are still taken by the credulous as proof of some weird UFOs piloted by the Fungi from Yuggoth. Just as the blur of a the plane hitting the Pentagon will be taken by conspiracy theorists that Ari Fleisher planted explosives there the morning of September 11.

— Ace No link; just reported on Fox News.
One panelist recommended he be fired; the other four recommended suspension.
Ward Chruchill was quoted as responding, "Heap big trouble, Kimo Sabe."

— Ace I'm not sure that's a good thing, though.
They always say these polls have to be viewed suspiciously, as its mostly the President's supporters who are watching, and of course they're inclined to give him a favorable reaction.
In this case, however, some of Bush's strongest opponents have been his supporters (or ex-supporters). So maybe he changed some minds.
Again, I'm not sure that's a good thing. I thought the speech was, for once, very effective, but when I say that, I mean it was quite effective at selling something that shouldn't be bought.
