— Purple Avenger Michael Totten has been on f'ing fire the past couple of months and has matured into a journalist who is even better than Yon in some respects, and Yon is better than Ernie Pyle was during WWII.
Two recent of his recent dispatches are just flat out world class Pulitzer caliber writing and reporting that show exactly how hackishly pathetic and distorted the MSM reporting really is. Lots of pics, brilliant writing. As they say - "go read it all". Spend an hour, let these two pieces soak in. You won't regret investing the time.
The most recent from 9-18 is about Ramadi [Part 2 of a series].
Another recent one is about Ramadi too [Part 1 of the series].
We found tons of weapons and IEDs. Just as we were finishing up some of the military dogs refused to sit on the flour bags. We opened up the bags and it felt like soap. We tested it. We didn’t think it was an explosive, but an accelerant. We took everything, put it into piles, and blew it up without warning anybody. It was a much bigger explosion than we expected...Windows blew out for blocks and blocks in every direction. It destroyed the whole block. Civil affairs officers paid compensation to locals for injuries and property damage. Thank God no one was killed. The media reported it as a car bomb at the soccer stadium. Reporters in the Green Zone have no idea what goes on out here.”

— DrewM. I guess the only thing worse than waking up in the middle of your autopsy is, well, being dead.
CARACAS (Reuters) - A Venezuelan man who had been declared dead woke up in the morgue in excruciating pain after medical examiners began their autopsy.Carlos Camejo, 33, was declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue, where examiners began an autopsy only to realize something was amiss when he started bleeding. They quickly sought to stitch up the incision on his face.
"I woke up because the pain was unbearable," Camejo said, according to a report on Friday in leading local newspaper El Universal.

— Gabriel Malor A meteorite fell in rural Peru and now the nearby village suffers from a "mystery illness."
Details are sketchy, probably due to the fact that it's high in the Andes and, well, it's Peru.
Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP..."Boiling water started coming out of the crater and particles of rock and cinders were found nearby. Residents are very concerned," he said.

— DrewM. Confederate Yankee reminds us itÂ’s been exactly two months since Michael Goldfarb of the Weekly Standard started the ball rolling on the Baghdad Fabulist.
We know that Scott Thomas Beauchamp, the author of the three stories Foer ran in The New Republic, had a chance to speak with The New Republic 12 days ago. We also know that Beauchamp has refused to discuss his original claims with any other media organization, and gave a blanket statement to the PAO to relay to media organizations that he will not discuss the incidents in his stories, period. It appears that Beauchamp will not speak to Franklin Foer any more about these articles, and that he may have frozen him out, perhaps upon the direction of a lawyer.
CY has more on the story to date and a challenge for Foer.
I am glad that Bob Owens is keeping this story alive. To me, the issue is bigger than one jagoff and the fools at TNR. The left has been portraying American troops as psychopathic killers for over 30 years. Unfortunately they had some success in making it stick to the Vietnam generation but we have the chance to kill this narrative before it takes hold on this generation of American heroes. It will take time and perseverance but in the end the truth about our troops should come out as well as about those who defamed them.
So to Franklin and the rest of the gang at TNRÂ…put up or fess up when it comes to Beauchamp.

— Dave In Texas They are trying to save them though.
A heavy burden.
From rural Australia to Siberia to Oklahoma, languages that embody the history and traditions of people are dying, researchers said Tuesday
I've been to Oklahoma. Trust me, you can let that one go.
They estimate there are about 7000 languages in the world, and one dies every two weeks. Because people quit using it. I wonder why?
Anderson said languages become endangered when a community decides that its language is an impediment. The children may be first to do this, he explained, realizing that other more widely spoken languages are more useful
It's those goddam kids, figuring out on their own that life might be a little better if they could communicate with someone beside grammy.
No respect.
It seems that the key to revitalizing a language is to bug the crap out of the people who don't want to speak it anymore and plead with them not to stop.
"When we lose a language, we lose centuries of human thinking about time, seasons, sea creatures, reindeer, edible flowers, mathematics, landscapes, myths, music, the unknown and the everyday."
Don't they have words for those things in English and French?
French. If only the French had a word for "entrepreneur", things would be way different there.

— Ace This is what I keep telling the cops...
"It is my clear, unequivocal, unabashed desire to place a plastic bag over (Barbara Bush's) head, tape it to her neck, and slowly strangle her to death," read one of the messages, which according to court papers, Dees sent to U.S. Secret Service agent Keith Saunders.
He actually lives under a bridge, so he's old school.

— Ace You guys have seen Law & Order enough times to know what could happen should he die, right?
TMZ.com is all OJ today, pretty much. The bling OJ showed off at his hearing -- a gold Rolex -- has been awarded to Fred Goldman. Other crap that he may have been sporting might get taken away, too.
