Aceapalooza, Last Call
— Ace

There are a number of people who expressed interest in coming but we weren't able to give them the information because we don't have real emails for them. Bart, for example -- fake email. "Hutch1200" -- no email. "Techie" -- no email.

At any rate, if you still don't have the information, please write me or Laura to get it.

Np Enthusiastically Eyelinered Boy yet, alas. I thought it had that, as MKH told me she had some good stuff on him, but apparently it isn't quite ready.

Why I Am Not A Triathlete [eddiebear]
— Open Blog

Hey, I run at least 5k 3 or four times a week. I ride my bicycle about 20 miles almost every Saturday. I try to work out and eat somewhat right. But being a triathlete? No way. With a very active 2 1/2 year old and a wife, I have more important priotities than training like a maniac every day.

Well, it looks as though my desire to avoid over exercising is well founded. It seems the Orlando Triathlon has a problem with the swimming portion of their event. Namely, amoeba!

Why I Don't Go Into The Ocean [eddiebear]
— Open Blog

Now, living in St. Louis makes it difficult to get to the ocean easily, but when I do go to Florida, I don't venture too far out into the water. Why? Well, I have three reasons. One, I was scared silly as a youth by a ray that swam too close to me on vacation (I was ten, ok?). Two, I am not that experienced surfing the waves that don't come from a hot tub.

And the third reason?

Because of stuff like this

Somewhere, Richard Dreyfuss is cackling.

Underwear Smuggling at Guantanamo
— Gabriel Malor

Get this: Guantanamo Bay is conducting an investigation into who smuggled in two pairs of UnderArmor briefs and a speedo to prisoners.

He said the appearance of contraband raised serious concerns about the potential for smuggling other items that could be used by detainees to harm themselves or staff.

"There is no room for error when working in a dangerous environment, and constant vigilance is of the utmost importance,'' [Army Lt. Col. Ed] Bush said.

The army's first thought was the the lawyers did it, but they're denying it. Lawyers are searched and monitored at the prison. Of course, if we eliminate the lawyers that leaves few suspects...except the guards.

*I changed the title...just because I can.

Victory for Andrew Sullivan and Captured Terrorists!
— DrewM.

The CIA has removed water-boarding from the list of approved interrogation techniques.

The controversial interrogation technique known as water-boarding, in which a suspect has water poured over his mouth and nose to stimulate a drowning reflex, has been banned by CIA director Gen. Michael Hayden, current and former CIA officials tell ABCNews.com.

The officials say Hayden made the decision at the recommendation of his deputy, Steve Kappes, and received approval from the White House to remove water-boarding from the list of approved interrogation techniques first authorized by a presidential finding in 2002.

The officials say the decision was made sometime last year but has never been publicly disclosed.

Why exactly did the CIA do this? Is it just responding to pressure or did it not really work? Earlier reports had been that , despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth on the left, it does work.

Now I am sure St. Heartache will be offended by the title of this post and claim itÂ’s a victory for America but we all know who has been agitating for this and who benefits.

While Ace is busy showing Dave in Texas...
— Jack M.

how to "do the hand jive, baby"...I'm taking over the blog.

You might call it a coup d'etat. But then you'd be a French speaking nancy boy.

In my benevolence, however, I will let you vote on what my next post should be.

Would you prefer reading 1) The first in a five part series about Administrative Law, the importance of Federal Regulatory Agencies, and why we need them or 2) The epic poem I wrote to Fox News' Miss Suzanne Sena that cemented our relationship.

The choice is yours. Choose wisely.

Vote in the comments.

Anbar Tribes Vow To Fight Al Qaeda "To The Last Child"
— Ace

The Sunnis' children, they mean, not the pathetic gay-panic young men who sublimate their twisted sexual pathologies into mass-murder and rape.

Correction: On FoxNews I just heard it wasn't until their own last child. They said they'd kill anyone they heard was Al Qaeda, even if it was a child still in his mother's womb.

Strong, tough, indeed.

unni Arab Iraqis and U.S. forces in Anbar province vowed on Friday to keep fighting al Qaeda after the assassination of a tribal leader who worked with Americans to create one of Iraq's few security success stories.

Abdul Sattar Abu Risha was killed in a bomb attack on Thursday near his home in Ramadi, provincial capital of what was once one of Iraq's most dangerous areas.

"All the tribes agreed to fight al Qaeda until the last child in Anbar," his brother, Ahmed Abu Risha, told Reuters.

An al Qaeda-led group said on Friday it was responsible for the killing of Abu Risha, according to an Internet posting. The self-styled Islamic State in Iraq called the killing of Abu Risha a "heroic operation" and vowed to assassinate more tribal leaders who cooperate with U.S. and government forces.

Its statement could not be authenticated, but it was posted on a main Islamist Web site.

"This ... is a new setback for the crusaders' plans and Bush's new strategy," the Islamic State in Iraq said, adding the operation took more than a month to prepare.

Aceaplooza Pre-Party
— Ace

Dave in Texas and Spongeworthy are in town tonight, and I'll probably meet them for beers and awkward signaling in men's rooms. If you're in town and feel like getting a casual drink, let me know.

It seems to be happening in the Government Center area at around 8:30. No other details yet, I'll let you know if your email checks out and you're not one of the pathetic liberal paparazzi who've decided we're celebrities.
