— Ace Don't expect results tonight from Colorado.
Where, by the way, early voting slightly favors Republicans.
That's not necessarily a good thing -- we're supposed to own early voting, not merely edge the Democrats.
However, it's not necessarily a bad thing, either, given the cultish following of Obama. If Obama's voters are simply voting early, rather than in record-shattering numbers, it's not a problem.

— Ace I hope no one's taking the "I'll just hope real hard that other people vote in great enough numbers to make up for my apathy" position.

— Ace JackStraw thinks it's this solid citizen, but I can't tell from the grainy video tape. Guy at the polling station seems younger, less weathered than this cat.
If Jack's right (waiting for him to get back to me) it's "Minister King Samir Shabazz."
I haven't seen a name like that since I stopped playing D&D.
Some people wear their heart on their sleeve.Minister King Samir Shabazz wears his on his forehead. Right between the eyes.
"If you want to stop the revolution, that's what you got to hit," Shabazz said, pointing to the target tattooed onto his forehead. "I fight my oppressor, and I give him the target."
Shabazz is chairman of the New Black Panther Party's Philadelphia chapter. In black beret atop dreadlocks and a black military uniform, he spends most weekdays near City Hall condemning "crackers" and exhorting black passers-by to rise up against their "slavemasters" - and to give him $2 for the party's semi-annual newspaper.
He is one of the most recognizable black militants in a city known, since the days of MOVE, for its vocal black-extremism community.

— Ace Dave in Garfield Ridge says of the very high turnout from the morning... It's old.
Just went to the polls. . . 3:30 pm in Arlington, VA, the bluest part of Virginia. No line whatsoever, so I guess all the early people got the worms today. For comparison, my wait around 4 pm in 2006 was about an hour, ditto in 2004.
The poll workers had five electronic voting machines as usual, but they were supplementing them with paper ballots to fight the expected crowds. My guess is that'll slow down vote counting tonight, so beware any early projections.
Finally-- the weather is kind of crappy, cold drizzle most of the afternoon up here. Doubt it'll affect turnout, but you never know.
Anyway. . . it's 4 pm, I'm home from work, I have my first beer open, and I'm going to play Fallout 3 on my Xbox until the polls close.

— Dave in Texas Sometimes the margin of victory is slim.
Less than half that number changed the course of history. Midway was a victory. Guadalcanal was a game changer. It was where we refused to lose.
Secretary of State Brunner has stacked the deck. Topple it Ohioans. You can do it.
William Howard Taft would approve. I know him like a brother. He's not even pissed about that whole Bull Moose thingy.

— Ace In Virginia, 50% of the registered vote has already been cast through early voting and heavy voting in the morning. This is called a good sign for Obama -- but is it?
It is, I suppose, if Obama's cultists now have the rest of the day to vote two or three more times.
Not 50%... That came from Major Garret, citing, presumably, the Obama camp. The latest print report says turnout has been 30-40% of all registered voters-- with a projection for 75%.
I really don't know if you can straight-line project final turnout like that. What if it's a high but not ultra-high 65% turnout, but all of Obama's very enthusiastic voters voted early?
More anecdotes on voter turnout from Geraghty-- mixed bag. Some places it's "very, very heavy." In others, lines are short.

100,000 Georgia Voters Also Registered to Vote in Ohio or Florida: Whatever we do, let's not clean up voter rolls or cross-check across state lines or require ID.
Let's leave it up to the "honor system." It's working like gangbusters so far.
