— Ace This is intended to be sexy, I guess.
Mike wonders if this is Johnny Coldcuts. I think maybe Jack Tors. It has a Jerky Boyz vibe.

In case you havenÂ’t heard, MacleanÂ’s Magazine is also facing a complaint from Canadian Muslims for running excerpts from Mark SteynÂ’s best selling book, America Alone.
The “logic” of the left has become so twisted that tolerance means accepting and defending everyone’s values but your own.

— Ace See Allah's later updates here regarding this developing controversy. Which seems to be a real thing, not just us Republicans saying ha-ha to a minor fooferall.
The problem seems to be that whenever Hillary or her spokesmen say anything negative at all about Obama -- he lacks experience, his record of accomplishments is thin, it's a "fairy tale" that he can end the War in Iraq with a glowing smile and some "healing," etc. -- it's perceived by black Democrats as a racial attack.
Or maybe not a racial attack per se, but they don't like it. Which leaves Hillary in the curious position of being in a political contest in which she is not permitted to contest her political opponent's qualifications.
I sort of sympathize for her: It is rather absurd that, because Obama is black, no negative words about him are permitted. And it's a foreshadowing of what the GOP will be up against should Obama win -- I feel comfortable predicting that while the press currently doesn't know how to adjudicate the current dispute over "racial attacks" from Hillary, they'll be very confident indeed about branding such knocks on Obama as racist when coming from the GOP.
It should be noted, though, that some of Hillary's spokesmen have dabbled in those "racial code words" we've heard so much about in the past, shuckin' and jivin' on Obama.
But just saying the guy's got two years of experience in national politics? That's a racial attack?
Jeepers.
On the other hand, anyone who criticizes Hillary is a sexist.
So that's where the Democrats' fifty years of identity politics have gotten them: If Hillary loses, the party is sexist. If Obama loses, the party is racist.

— Open Blog I'd bump the previous post, except it got caught up in a torrent of amusing updates. So, to sum up the important points:
1. Morons meeting for Val-U-Rite and a hobo hunt. Tonight.
2. The location will not be posted.
3. Therefore, if you're considering attending, email me at blog dot someone at gmail dot com.
4. Some of you who said you wanted to attend in the previous comment thread haven't emailed.
UPDATE: If you need to contact me (i.e. you're lost, can't find us, or want to show up at the last minute) tonight, use the above email. I'll get it via phone.
UPDATE 2: Thanks to everyone who showed. If anyone went and couldn't find us, I'm really sorry. I meant to arrive early with a t-shirt, but neither happened. I did try to lurk by the door to see who might be a moron, though. (Warning: "Are you a moron?" isn't the best pickup line.)

— Ace No news is good news, and now vice versa.
The Interior Ministry announced Friday that al-Qaeda in Iraq has been successfully penetrated by means of a recently formed government security apparatus and is virtually an "open book," confirming that the sectarian sedition in the country was at the end of its rope.Major General Abdul Karim Khalaf, director of operations at the Interior Ministry, told KUNA here "we have succeeded in establishing a capable intelligence apparatus to penetrate the al-Qaeda organization in Iraq and all armed groups targeting Iraqi national security." He said emphatically that the sectarian sedition in Iraq has virtually ended, adding that the new intelligence apparatus is able to achieve its objectives regarding all armed groups operating in Iraq.
He went on to say that "al-Qaeda is now an open book for us, now that we have succeeded in penetrating it."
Captain Ed comments:
It's interesting that this news got reported by an outfit called Muslim World News. So far, I have not seen this in media outlets named Washington Post or the New York Times. The statement itself seems provocative enough to at least have reported it here in the US, as it seems a lot more relevant here than in India.
Thanks to CJ.

— DrewM. Most Democratic politicians have had to confront the reality that the Petraeus counter insurgency strategy has succeeded in increasing security in Iraq and dramatically reducing US casualties.
Yet many have found comfort in pointing out that political progress has lagged. “The Benchmarks! The Iraqis aren’t meeting the benchmarks”, they screech.
Well, today the Iraqi Parliament passed the so called “de-Baathification” law, one of those benchmarks we hear so much about.
The bill approved Saturday, titled the Accountability and Justice law, seeks to relax restrictions on the rights of members of the now-dissolved Baath party to fill government posts. It is also designed to reinstate thousands of Baathists dismissed from government jobs after the 2003 U.S. invasion — a decision that deepened sectarian tensions between Iraq's majority Shiites and the once-dominant Sunni Arabs, who believed the firings targeted their community.
Â…The law will allow low-ranking Baathists not involved in past crimes against Iraqis to go back to their jobs. High-ranking Baathists will be sent to compulsory retirement and those involved in crimes will stand trial, though their families will still have the right to pension.
The Baathists who were members in Saddam's security agencies must retire — except for members of Fidayeen Saddam, a feared militia formed by Saddam's eldest son, Oday. They will be entitled to nothing.
Of course this wonÂ’t stop the Democrats in their push to surrender (though thereÂ’s really no one left to surrender to any more). No, in Hugh Hewitt like fashion this setback for their position will be ignored or spun in to some kind of proof that it means the exact opposite of what it obviously is.
The Iraqis still have much work to do but to use the words of one prominent Democrat, it would take a willful suspension of disbelief to believe the Democratic line on Iraq.

— Purple Avenger ...roughly about the same odds of Herr Doktor getting the nomination.
There's crushing disappointment in the AGW bunker here over this development. It would have been quite a PR coup to blame a nuclear bomb grade explosion on Mars on global warming and Bush.
