10 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Saturday, March 15, 2014.  Beware the Ides of March!  On this day in 44 BC, “Ides of March,” Julius Caesar was stabbed to death in the senate house by a group of conspirators led by Cimber, Casca, Cassius, and Marcus Junius Brutus.

17 The unrepentant crime ring known as the EPA threatening WY rancher with $75K/day fines for building a pond on his property.  As I recall the last time the EPA tried this shit after dragging it out in court for a decade the court told them to pack sand.  It is lawfare pure and simple and if we had a real congress the existing EPA would be disbanded, all the mid and top level supervisors fired and forbidden from ever working in government again.  A new EPA should be started with strict controls over its power.

The US has surrendered control of the Internet in yet another Obama POS ruling.

And an ex-Bush guy says this:

The U.S. government’s plan to give away authority over the Internet’s core architecture to the “global Internet community” could endanger the security of both the Internet and the U.S. — and open the door to a global tax on Web use.

So stand by for a "global tax" going to some European shit hole.

27 A janitor is assaulted by three thugs with baseball bats and shoots two of them.

Two of the individuals held down the 39-year old man while a third one beat him with a baseball bat. The maintenance worker was able to free himself and fatally shoot two of the attackers with his concealed carry permitted gun.

The two attackers who died were James Bell, Jr., 19, and Anmarie Miller, 17. The surviving attacker, aged 20, was arrested on suspicion of substantial battery, but was released without charges Friday.

So what happens?  They want to charge the janitor and have freed the third attacker.  This is why these anti-gun Northern States should be abandoned for the shit holes that they are.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Representative Paul Ryan on Friday agreed to meet with the Congressional Black Caucus after members of the group branded his remarks about inner-city poverty this week "highly offensive".

The controversy began on Wednesday after Ryan said on William Bennett's talk radio show, "Morning in America," that there was a "tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value of work."

Representative Barbara Lee of California, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, called Ryan's remarks a "thinly veiled racial attack."

Well and because this probably has clear links to the JEF  I've got mixed feelings on what Issa is doing.  First of all he's exactly right to call out Cumdumpster for what he's doing.  But the trouble is, he risks this becoming a sideshow where the MFM will come down on the the side of Ike the idiot and ignore the IRS.  Issa loves the spotlight too fucking much to be effective at his job imo.  When Lerner agreed to testify he ran like a fucking idiot to FNS with a "look what I got" goofy grin on his face and then got short sheeted when the whore Lerner took the fifth.  He got played badly and should learn from that but I'm afraid his ego will always be his enemy.

Don't get me wrong:  I'm on his side but question his strategy.

The AA community (we're all communities now, not one nation united) has a very chronic problem of not admitting to the dire predicament their people are in as a whole.  Nothing Paul Ryan said is incorrect.  Neither is the fact that gang life has overtaken so many inner cities and their own culture has become the complete and total antithesis to success and leading a normal, decent life.  Thing will never improve unless and until they realize what they have become and combat that.  Look at Eric Holder issuing decrees that schools should make discipline "even" with all races.  Nobody gives one rat's arse about psychologically looking into why there are so many black youths who are misbehaving and...gasp...actually trying to turn that ship around.  Same with 80% black, unwed mothers.  But let's bash Paul Ryan for pointing out the obvious.  Bring on the apologies.  That'll help.  ::eye roll::

Issa should just kick him off the committee for interrupting the proceedings.   And he should tell the MFM that one of these days they are going to have to give up helping blacks play the race card for every issue that comes up.

And all should remember that the Demopcraps bypassed two more senior commie members to put that asshole racist Cummings on that committee.

And in Big Tent news:

California Republicans let media see one gubernatorial candidate, not another

After letting reporters listen to remarks from Republican candidate for governor Neel Kashkari, county chairmen at the state party's biannual convention Friday closed the room for the speech given by another candidate, Tim Donnelly.

The move visibly frustrated Donnelly, a Twin Peaks assemblyman, who had wanted the meeting to be open press.

Mark Pruner, president of the county leaders' group, said later Friday that momentum had been building throughout the day to close the meeting to the media and had only to do with Donnelly holding a later speaking spot than Kashkari.

147 Been looking at annual real estate taxes in a couple of states. This is my estimate (for the areas I might be interested in): Pennsylvania: About $1,500 / $100,000 in actual value North Carolina: About $500 / $100,000 in actual value Florida: About $1,000 / $100,000 in actual value (maybe a Fl moron could help me out, it looks like they assess based on most recent sale price) Wonder which state looks most attractive to a future retired person? *** In Florida there's also portability, meaning that you can take your taxes with you up to a certain amount when you buy a new/existing house. It helps prevent folks being stuck in their old house because of the fear of much higher taxes when moving to a new house. I haven't used it so not exactly sure how it works.

156 Oh! Just remembered... So, you buy a house for $100k and live in it for a few years. The market continues to rise and that house, and others rise in value. Now your house is worth $125k meaning that if you bought the exact same house again, your taxes would be higher. Now, you can take the existing taxable value of your old home to a new home and not be stuck. Buy at $100k. Taxes rise slowly over time. Sell it at $150k. Buy new house at $200k. Instead of paying taxes on $200k, you would transfer the taxes associated with the house you did own and only pay an increase associated with the difference in value between your old home and the new home.

I hate it when people make me defend the French but facts is facts.  The part of New Orleans that the French built is above sea level.  The reason it is called the Crescent City is that the sand spit on which it was built is shaped like a crescent moon or a croissant pastry.  The below sea level part was all built by 'Murcans who optimistically believed that they could sell off to another sucker before the city flooded out.

Actually, the reason that West Point was established with such a strong emphasis on engineering was so that the United States could stop relying on French civil engineers to design our seacoast forts which were our major defense projects and government expenditures during the first half of the 19th century.  As it turned out, those civil engineering skills that enabled West Point graduates to build forts also came in handy when building railroads.

Anyway, civil engineering is actually one of the strengths of the French.  Honesty, integrity, common sense and frequent bathing tend to be areas where they are a bit lacking.

167 The U.S. government’s plan to give away authority over the Internet’s core architecture to the “global Internet community” could endanger the security of both the Internet and the U.S. — and open the door to a global tax on Web use. “U.S. management of the internet has been exemplary and there is no reason to give this away — especially in return for nothing,” former Bush administration State Department senior advisor Christian Whiton told The Daily Caller. “This is the Obama equivalent of Carter’s decision to give away the Panama Canal — only with possibly much worse consequences.” The U.S. Commerce Department announced late Friday it would relinquish control of The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) — the organization charged with managing domain names, assigning Internet protocol addresses and other crucial Web functions — after its current contract expires next year. Can Congress stop this?

Meanwhile, in the Land of Dreams:

A federal judge has rejected a civil rights lawsuit filed by a man arrested on suspicion of violating the city's anti-nudity ordinance for wearing a "gladiator-type black leather loincloth" at an LGBT Pride activity.

William X. Walters argued that he was targeted because he is gay while police allow women to wear even more revealing thongs at local beaches and at the annual Over-the-Line tournament at Fiesta Island.

"There is nothing in the record that reasonably suggests sexual orientation had anything to do with the [police] decision to insist upon compliance with the literal text" of the ordinance, U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo ruled in a 15-page decision this week.

The arresting officer had given Walters a chance to avoid being arrested by covering up but he refused, according to court documents. Walters responded to the officer by saying, "So either cite me, arrest me, or leave me alone because I'm not interested in your opinion," according to the documents.

From a standing position, Walters genitals and buttocks were covered by his loincloth, the judge ruled. But when he moved "the flaps of Walters' loincloth moved freely ... and as the wind blew that day, exposing his buttocks," Bencivengo ruled.

180 So the tax value in your example remains 150, the sale cost of the old home, not 200, the purchase price of new one? That's pretty cool. For how long? *** Nope. It means that whatever you are paying in taxes, based upon the original purchase price of the original home (plus slow increases), now worth $150k, will transfer along to the first $150k of your new purchase. $200k - purchase price on new home -$150k - sale of your old home _______ $50k of home value added to your old tax rate, which was based upon $100k. So, on a $200k home, you're paying as if the home were valued at $150k. Or, I suppose it might be easier to say it this way. You bought a home at $100 and it rose in value to $150k. You sell the house for $150k and buy a different house for $150k. You will transfer the old tax rate to the new house and you will not see a rise in taxes.

199 OK, I'm a lone voice in the wilderness of flyover country.

However I'm gonna post this, irrespective of the thread topic, until I'm excluded from all but Huffpo and Popular Mechanics.

I'm calling for a national Republican/Conservative/Libertarian debate prior to the presidential primaries, to include all the Leaders, Faux Leaders, Right Wingers, Rinos, Tea Partiers, Isolationists, dynasties; and men and women of all races, creeds, and heights, that know in their hearts they can Lead this country out of the mess we are in, with the end result to select 2 people to represent the non-progressives in the Republican presidential primary.

With the winners being the Presidential candidate and the 2nd place to be the VP candidate on the Republican ticket.

We got the technology, the mess, and the time; so all we need is the will.

After the first 3 presentations, we have a national call in vote similar to American Idol, that last for 24 hours. The half of the partcipants with the lowest votes are then eliminated and go back to their real jobs or to apply for one, another vote after the 4th show, with half of the participants eliminated, and the final vote with the top two participants being our presidential election candidates. Those not finishing as the top 2, will go home, support the selected candidates, and if not interested in a real job, start writing down ideas how they could contribute to the next presidents cabinet leaders. If any sour grapes are shown by the losing aspirants, may they be forever damned unto hell, here on Earth and whatever comes next.

Hosted on a national program on Fox News in a program similar to Hannity's new forum on TV, with questions answered from callers and email from a randomly selected cross section of Americans, selected by Rasmussen.

Screw  the other networks because they are all ideological whores of the progressives.

This use of the nation's air time will be furnished at cost by Fox and paid for by 1 sponsor per program, with 1 one minute commercial at the beginning, the middle, and the end of the program.

The hosts to be selected from among Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Dennis Miller, Dennis Prager, Glenn Reynolds, Jim Sinclair, Michelle Malcolm, Laura Ingram, William Jacobson,

Three or four of these programs, run maybe in 1/2 hr segments of Shep's, Brett's, and Gretta's, Bill's and or Morgan's shows and simultaneously on all local fox affiliates.

Anything has got to be better than the crap system we now have.

236 Condi is the female equiv of Colin Powell; Republican as it suited them for advancement but still believe blacks need/should get special treatment.

Basically they're Democrats who could pass as  Republican. Different from RINO's as they don't reveal their predilection until after they've used up all the influence they could gather.

Plus Condi's a bit smarter and has kept her mouth shut and her profile low.

Blacks are more conscious of skin color and place more importance on it than any white (these days) would dream of.

You don't hear about it much cause they keep it quiet and the lying Media of course won't talk about it either.

You start getting into the rich black families down south and  say like philly or a few other enclaves and you'll find people who look down their nose at someone with a skin shade a bit darker than they like.

And the hair's a thing too.

Oh yeah, lots of little rules and taboos. And it mostly centers around color of skin.

247 250 I don't accept the premise that founding a national capital in a less than ideal setting reflects on the IQ of the inhabitants or their engineering skills, which is why I mentioned D.C. I do. BTW, Paris was founded 2,000 years ago; D.C. was founded in 1790. What does that add to the premise? Posted by: andycanuck at March 15, 2014 11:47 AM (hn5v5) Parts of it. As the city grew, it was built over quarries that were mined to build the original parts. Other parts were built rather late, e.g., Eiffel Tower, Montmartre. Hell if you look at 17th and 18th century paintings, there was quite a bit of open area in Paris.

248 Thieves masquerading the theft as a terrorist act?

I wonder if that's been thought of before

What exactly would be the purpose of it?  As others have pointed out, you couldn't realistically use the engines (always by far the most expensive component of any jet aircraft) since they telemeter back to the manufacturer.  It wouldn't be worth much in carriage since getting parts for it would be problematic.

Yesterday, talking about stopping distances for a 777 I transposed feet for meters and got it wrong. DrewM caught it, but I was too involved with other things at the time to go back and check.

He can read a table better than jwest for example, but the meaning of the values escapes him.  The FAR field length takeoff length requirements, which the Boeing document quoted yesterday uses, factor in the extra field length required on takeoff to lose an engine, cannot climb sufficiently and as such, the pilot must get the aircraft stopped.  In short, the so-called balanced field length problem.  This is important since terrorists don't give a crap about commercial aviation requirements for takeoff purposes.

For the FAR landing length side of things, there is no requirement that the pilot be able to get the plane back off the runway, as in the takeoff case, if the landing doesn't go as planned.  However, the FAA has still inserted a 67% safety factor in these numbers (so sayeth a Stanford writeup on the principles of the FAR rules).

Long story short, if you don't care about the safety factors, you use a whole lot less runway than the Boeing numbers listed.  Now that we know the plane flew on for several hours more, that opens up a wide vista of small but available runways, particularly ones from state actors who would be willing to host this kind of operation.

251 Have some pancakes and bacon. I never mix my stuff up like that. I keep the pancakes and the meat/eggs separated.
