more under the fat flap
• Monolith showing off their upcoming Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. It actually looks like it could be interesting, lore be damned
So yeah, King.com (owners of Candy Crush Saga) has been approved with a trademark for the word "Candy". Okay......
2K trolls Vita owners by getting the hopes up that Borderlands 2 is actually coming out for the handheld.
• Hasn't been a good Spider-Man game since Spider-Man 2 (which was 10 years ago) but a new movie means a new game
• Though I personally have no hopes for this, it's always nice to get more golf games, especially with the current state of this specific sport and video gaming (Links was the last good sim based Golf series and it's last entry was 10 years ago)
• Can't say that I've been impressed with what I've seen of Shovel Knight so far but this new trailer had gotten me curious.
The Star Citizen gravy train still rolls as they announced that they've raised over $37 million.
Since it's release last month, Minecraft on the PS3 has sold a million copies.
• Paradox announced Hearts of Iron 4. Hopefully they learned from the misstep of the third game
Broken Age (PC) - The first part was released last week to the Kickstarter backers but this week it's released to public. Though it's been heaped with a ton of praise, I'll be interested in seeing how this is looked at by the people who didn't back this.
Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught (360, XBox One) - First expansion pack for the new Call of Duty. Never been a big fan of COD but the Fog map looks interesting.
DC Universe: The War of the Light Part 1 (PC, PS3 and PS4) - New expansion pack for the game, this time the story line is based around the Red Lantern Corps. Not a big fan of the game and haven't cared for the Red Lanterns in the comics (really haven't cared much about the DC universe in general lately) but it's a new expansion.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (PS4 & Xbox One)- Square Enix trying to actually make money on this game (it finally broke even) by releasing a better and last gen but still a down port of the PC release for a full $60. Don't get me wrong, I really liked this game but I don't see the point of this, especially at full price. It's been $10 and under on the PC quite a few times and I would recommend that (outside of tress, the specs aren't high) but if you want to get bent over, the PS4 is the way to go. Gamestop broke streetdate and the early impressions is that both are variable FPS (which is bad in any case) with the PS4 running between 45-60 and the XBox One running between 30-45. And no, none of the DLC was worth buying.
Tomb Raider Game of the Year Edition (360, PS3)- Just buy a new copy, there have been plenty of times to get it for $20 or so and none of the DLC was worth the cash.
Octodad: Dadliest Catch (PC) - I thought the first game sucked and this one looks worse IMO. But people have been looking forward to this for some reason.
Rymdkapsel (PC)- I really dug this game on my ipad. It's a nice quirky abstract base building & resource management game. That being said, spend more than the $4 I spent for it on the iOS and I don't think it's worth the money as there just wasn't enough content there.
Been slow going in Assassin's Creed 4 (I just got the boat so yeah, very slow) as my attention has been on a few different things (and real life stuff).
Apparently Aksys released a English version of the seminal visual novel Banshee's Last Cry aka Kamaitachi no Yoru on the iOS store. It's the first official English release of Chunsoft's popular "sound novel". It's based on the Playstation re-release of the novel. It's "free" in that it gives you a teaser but it costs $4 and worth the cash.
Also been replaying XCOM: The Bureau, this time on the PC for some reason (Amazon stacked my Editor's Choice credits and only cost me $2.50). Still have my misgivings about it but still an interesting romp.
When I went to see Jack Ryan (I liked it), I got to play the new Batman arcade game again, though it wouldn't work for a console port, that game is a lot of fun and just feels really tight. They also had a copy of Big Buck HD, eh, its more of the same when it comes to the series.
Other than that, it's just boring regular non-videogaming crap filling my life (reading and designing new furniture for the year).
That's it, I'm done

I'm catching up on games I never got around to buying or finishing(if I did buy them), since I do not have the disposable income for a next gen console. And nobe of the 360 games coming out this year interest me, except for Lightning Returns and maybe that Street Fighter IV update.
I'd like to get a 3DS, though...

Protip: if you're in Commiefornia, even if you can rescue someone at no risk to yourself, DO NOT DO SO.
Our state Supreme Court considered a case in which a young woman was in a car after an accident. The car appeared to be burning and it was feared it might explode or cook her to death inside. She was dragged to safety by someone acting in the very purest of good faith.
Car was later found by an engineering inquest to have been at no risk of explosion. Occupant suffered life-altering injuries to her cervical spine from the extraction from the car. She sued her rescuer. Case went up to the Commiefornia SCOTUS, who said, "Go girl!"
As far as I'm concerned, "Go girl!" translates to "No way, Ray."
I have stepped in to help people in urgent crises before. I quit cold turkey after that. At least here in CA. Not worth losing everything I've worked for.

I've played Shattered Dimensions. It is a pretty good game overall. The Spider-man Noir though sucked. And while its a pretty good game, its just really linear in its play. There is only one way to go and no real options to do it other than the one way. Far too many upgrades in the game too. So Spider-man, its much better in an open world where you have the main story to do but can swing through the city and Shattered Dimensions did not have that.

but it makes it fun.
Oh, also The Castle Doctrine is coming out of alpha this week. Over the last year it's morphed into a really cool time waster that you spend a few minutes goofing off every few days. You build a maze with self defense mechanisms and people run it to get it to your safe (and you run other people's house layouts). Full price is going to be $15 but you can still pick it up at the site for $8 (comes with a key for Steam)

There's a new indie game out called Nidhogg that's a sort of 2D swordfighting simulation and it's fun - but only against other people. Don't buy it for the single-player. But spearing one of your friends through the head with a thrown sword is quite fun.
Hearthstone beta is now completely open, so anyone who wants to get their Magic-alike on now can. Since it's a Blizzard game you'll find plenty of players.
Blizzard also released the Starcraft II Arcade for free; this is basically a huge set of mods for SCII. Some of them are brilliant, my personal favorite is Hive Keeper, which is Dungeon Keeper 2 reimplemented in the Starcraft II engine.

Finished up the "campaign" in Gran Turismo 6 yesterday. Shame it isn't selling better. It's my fave entry in the series since GT3.

Pirate music, cannons and yelling pirates are my background right now. Guess whose husband got that game too.....

I'm really looking forward to Pat Lawlor's new design. I had been thinking of getting one of The Hobbit pins by JJP later this year but now I'm tempted to wait and see what Pat does.
Batman Arcade is a lot of fun, I think it will become a big collector item down the road.
In regards to Big Buck HD, the significant thing about it this time around, aside from the graphics upgrade to 1080p@60fps, was it became more like the Golden Tee golf you mentioned. Extensive online and tournament play features, Twitter/Facebook connectivity, tons of achievements and the cabinet design leaves the monitor out of it so the buyer goes out and spends what they want on it for quality. Also the platform was designed for constant updates like Golden Tee, they have said they want it to have a lifespan of 10 years or so.

Also I just remembered that it has cross-site play. That's a big feature to have for an arcade game but costs an extra $1. 4 players from anywhere get to play against each other in real time. I don't see people try that very often on the BBHD I have but its nice to see arcades start to kind of catch up on that sort of thing.
