Mike Pence For President? Sebelius For Senate? Bloomberg For Heaven? And More!
— DrewM

1. Governor Mike "Presidential Hair" Pence of Indiana is considering a run for President.

You should check out that link not just to see what Pence says but how the Bloomberg reporter frames it. Hint: KOCH BROTHERS.

I was pretty interested in Pence in 2011 because I think he has the ability to unite significant parts of the traditional GOP 3 legged coalition.

The Bloomberg story is via @ByronYork.

2. Speaking of Bloomberg, Mike is sure he's going to heaven because God is all about fascism or something.

If [Bloomberg] senses that he may not have as much time left as he would like, he has little doubt about what would await him at a Judgment Day. Pointing to his work on gun safety, obesity and smoking cessation, he said with a grin: “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

Um, ok.

3. Democrats: Hey Kathleen Sebeilus isn't doing anything these days, maybe she should run for Senate this year.

4. Meanwhile in Ukraine, the Russians are winning.

NATO is kind of indifferent on whether or not France should deliver a modern amphibious warship to....Russia.

Can we stop pretending that NATO and "Europe" are serious about anything? Please.

And the real reason for this entire post: A Ukrainian armored personnel carrier doing donuts.

19 I don't understand why Bloomberg thinks disarming the citizenry disallowing their own survival if things go bad (and we know they can, look at the 1920-30-s and the rest of history) this will get him a one way ticket to anything. Nevermind that other citizens , gangs, and bad guys will not obey the Law. How fkn short sited is this guy? does he not pay attention to very recent history ? I believe He is thinking Tikun Olam (or cynically espousing it), while doing His control over your salt shaker and soda shit), I think He really just has control issues.. but really making everyone defenselesss .

24 Mitch Daniels does not have Presidential hair. The story with his wife could have been pretty powerful, everyone loves a redemption story. I am serious, not snarky, about both of those. The GOP has a whole lot of good potential candidates with good hair. Elected executives with a track record of successful governance. I keep writing this list, and its long and distinguished (but so is my Johnson). In no particular order: Pence Walker Perry Haley Jindal Martinez Brewer Snyder Christie (yes, I said it, and you will vote for him over Biden or Hillary, so just shut it with the I will never vote for him crap.)

For what it's worth, Mike Pence has been an excellent Indiana governor. I have a few politically connected friends, one of them a liberal Democrat, who have seen him at work at the statehouse and say nothing but good things about him, personally and professionally.  According to those who know him, Pence has a command of the issues and an almost gentle way about him in dealing with other people, whether with him or against him on a given debate. He has a near-perfect memory and an eye for significant details when it comes to legislation. Those are all good leadership qualities.

The downside(s)? Name recognition, for one thing. No one but Indiana knows Mike Pence, and in modern national politics, it takes about a billion dollars and/or a sympathetic press to achieve the widespread name recognition necessary to win a national campaign. Pence is also a very nice man, a Romney-like gentleman. Such men typically don't fare well against hardcore Leftists accustomed to the down-and-dirty of machine politics.

I'd vote for him, but he's my governor and I like him.

1) Some people who are perpetually unhappy will try to make everyone unhappy.

2) Some people who feel guilt for their behavior will search for new ways to be moral. It *could* still be political disagreement, but I doubt over gay issues.

It's more likely that it's some kind of power-play within the company. They've made a decided shift away from Halo with their new game (Destiny- which looks awesome, btw), in that it almost *requires* on-line play (like Titanfall, only moreso, I've heard).

My understanding (and it's limited, 3rd-or-4th-hand knowledge) is that he wasn't completely on-board with that; believing that console games should have a fulfilling game experience that doesn't require shucking out an extra $10/mo to the console manufacturer.

But I guess you want someone whose onboard 100% in every role though. Plus doesn't PS4 still allow basic online play for free? At least the PC does. I've always figured if you got a console you knew online play was going to cost you a few extra $$/month, that's just part of the bargain. And that goes doubly so for a game like destiny (but perhaps they need to make it clear online play is required.) This contrasts though with a purely single player game, where an online requirement is just stupid. (I'm looking at you EA, and also StarCraft single player campaign.)

Yeah, great idea, Bloomberg, take one of the busiest traffic cities and halve the number of lanes on the roads for pedestrian plazas and huge banks of citi bikes that sit there unused. then De Blasio can come along and close more lanes for infrastructure work, oh and Obama can help too by swooping into town randomly and closely whole blocks of streets.

Rove got the math of 270 and put it together. That means it was always a near run thing. Going for that near run thing and not making it is inexcusable. As someone (whose name must not be spoken) posted somewhere else (which similarly must not be named), need to go for the 300s. Then you have some margin for error. But as in earlier in this thread, Lee Atwater knew how to damage the other guy's brand. And promote his own. Think about this - Atwater did a guest appearance playing in the band on Letterman.

The Marxists of Bloomington as it were ( IU) Pence has lead the way in opposition to Common Core ( among Governors) and Haley and Jindal are close behind. They ( liberals) also like to claim he's unqualified to be Governor because he was a "talk radio host" Despite him serving in the House with distinction. Like I said, it's fun until you throw a track.  Then all of a sudden you want to beat the shit out of your driver.

People think tanks can go anywhere...and that's mostly true....as long as the angle of attack to an obstacle is exactly perpendicular.  Every degree you are off-center raises the possibility of bogging down.

Whoever the driver was never should have come around that curve that tight to the apex.  That was just asking for trouble.

381 Having read all of the comments (really), I would like to recommend the following book to the horde again:

"The Evolutionary Psychology Behind Politics: How Conservatism and Liberalism Evolved Within Humans" by Anonymous Conservative.

I just finished it.  I am seeing everything through a different lens.

It is literally national suicide to vote for anyone not K-selected, and this applies to a very large number of Republicans.

Read the book and see.  Once a month, he gives it away on Amazon for free. Go to anonymousconservative.com for details and other blog entries.  The "Raw Amygdala" stuff is especially good.

It's solid knowledge, and it explains so much that it has a very calming and clarifying effect.  I feel like I can understand what is happening and understand the only options for solutions much better than I ever could before.

I think Ace or a Cob should read it and do a post on it.

I stole this off an Amazon review - take it fwiw....

The gist of Evolutionary Psychology is that liberalism and conservatism are outgrowths of two types of evolutionary strategies in humans, K-selection and r-selection. K-selection breeds children to compete (and win) in a hostile world with scarce resources through a high-investment, two-parent upbringing, late sexual maturation (and monogamy), sexual dimorphism, and loyalty to the in-group. r-selection breeds children for a world with abundant resources through a low-investment, single-mother upbringing, early sexual maturation (and promiscuity), androgyny, and no in-group loyalty. Think of wolves (K-selected), who are tight-knit, loyal, brave and sexually restrained, versus rabbits (r-selected), who have sex with wild abandon, ignore their fellows when they get eaten, and run away from danger instead of facing it. Or, for a human example, compare a white middle-class family from the suburbs to a black welfare queen in the inner city with five kids from four different daddies.

There is a video of an M1 rolling over a car, and an IED detonating from within it as the tank rolled over.

It didn't seem to bother the tank much.

As a Christian, allow me to comment on Mr. Bloomberg's view of Heaven.

God created the Universe.  As we can currently see via the series "Cosmos," the universe is - as they say in Boston - "Wicked Big."

As the illustrious fictional physicist Dr. Sheldon Cooper has pointed out, String Theory postulates that there are an infinite number of Wicked Big universes, all running in parallel.  God created those, too.

So, Mike, what makes you think that anything you do can impress the being that created all of these things and everything in them, and even the time that they move through?

Pride: the original - and still biggest - of all of man's flaws and sins.  The sin of "Me."  The statement "obviously God doesn't know who he is dealing with..." said With Feeling.

Mr. Bloomberg, you make a great straight man.  It's a pity that you don't realize that what you say makes you a clown...

Just as soon as you produce some evidence that the Republican party is about to start bending things back at all, this strategy might be credible. Screw you take your bat and ball and go home Screw you too; I will. And you can come right back here bitching about how the left always gets its way. Incentives are hard.

The synopsis from the review was close, but still doesn't do the theory justice.  The book is fairly short. It is a fairly easy read, too.  It clarifies a lot of things about the left and history that don't seem to make sense on the surface.

It's a free book.  If you go to the website and get on the mailing list, he tells you when he is offering it for free on Amazon, and then you can download it no-risk.  I read it in about 3 days.

We are literally programed with certain behavior... which while it can be overcome, takes effort to do so... That constant effort, and the stress caused by constantly having to overcome our genetic programming, makes us unhappy. This goes to Race Relations... Gay relations... and how Men and Women act towards each other. I note, that in my personal life... women who embrace their femininity, and let men be different.... are happier... The Angriest women are those who embrace the Feminazi ideals that Men and Women are identical... and Gay Men and Lesbians... because their intellect is constantly in conflict with their base programming.

I wouldn't have voted for any Rep or Dem recently but Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich.

And Rand is testing my patience. The apple is bouncing a little too far from the tree.

Warren? Maybe, if she distances herself from the harridan warhawk rival to her right by assuring, no wars under her term unless we're invaded. Which can also be accomplished by taking the bases out of Europe and putting one on the Rio Grande.
