Could all that regrowth simply be regeneration after the Yellowstone forest fires? But no, it's all due to the wolves. I hate lying greenies.

Wolves, since their importation, have
had deep impacts on the banks of streams and ponds in North America.
Digging into banks to create dens, and in search of their sustenance
which include roots and some invertebrates, this semi-aquatic animal
increases swamps and wetlands by breaking down banks in a way that
range-raised cattle never could. Initially introduced as a source of
pelts to replace the populations of over-trapped beavers, changes in
attitudes about the wearing of fur of rodents means that the only
real check on wolf populations is predation by members of PETA to
make shock movies about the cruelty of modern hunters and
trappers.

Dear Colonel Insight,
It is insights such as this (There's No Problem That Can't Be Solved Given a Sufficient Application of Wolves) that rank AoSHQ as the top of the small l commonsense ficon blogosphere. Thank you Ace.
I personally would appreciate moating Washington DC and applying sufficient wolves to have the Potomac flow clean again.

Humans have become lazy, fat, and complacent.
Humans should be afraid of the dark again.
Of course, if we are going to re introduce predators into the environment, we need to be armed. Survival of the fittest, baby!

Then a friggin' wolf stood up and stuck it's nose out the window! A big, white, friggin' wolf that took up the entire back seat. It took a sniff out of each window, and then laid back down.
Wonder what the divider was for?

Isn't it interesting...that Liberals can grasp the concept of 'Cause and Effect' when it comes to Nature and Ecosystems...
But then they totally ignore it when it comes to Economics and Human Behavior.
Or maybe they do grasp it, and they're intentionally doing things that harm the Economy and foster bad behavior.

I ask you, is that a fit state of affairs for a place which prides itself on its progressive environmental credentials? No! The large carnivores MUST be reinstated here. In large numbers. All through the state.
Here in the eastern SF Bay Area, for instance, there is a "Grizzly Peak". It used to have actual grizzlies on it. They are all gone. Now it is instead infested with legions of an introduced.non-native species, to wit, liberal Democratic yuppie environmentalists.
I don't know about you, but I am quivering in my chair at the thought of the fun and satisfaction the good green folk of Grizzly Peak and surrounding areas will feel when they find six hundred pounds of hungry bear tearing their garage door off of its hinges at 2AM. It will be an absolute delight.
Not least because these folks are not too big on guns and typically don't own any. Not that you would ever need a gun around a huge bear. Would you?

I saw the aftermath of an elk collision at roadside.
Someone had optimistically installed one of those sets of aftermarket bars on their front bumper.
The bars were ripped loose and resting up through what was left of the windshield.
Slow down in elk country.

Heh. About 10 years ago a beaver couple set up shop near the pond by the Jefferson Memorial and set about taking down the famous cherry trees that surround it. One of the Senators from Montana (Stabenow?) made sure to point out that just like those who pushed for wolf re-introduction out West, these beavers were also just re-introducing themselves to territory that they once had access to. They still moved 'em to an undisclosed location.

Don't get me started.
Iowa intentionally wiped out all their German heritage (except in the Amana Colonies, which were a separatist religious sect) when my grandfather was a boy. Indianapolis also had a lot of German heritage, but it all got thrown away in the first part of the 20th century.

chi (darling!), I would take them to a good photo studio and have new negatives shot, then you can do what you wish with them. my dad actually took a pic of my great-grandmother to the Isabella Gardner museum in Boston to get that done for me when my grandma passed away. you might even call a local museum and ask them for a referral to someone who will do a really good job.

who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Superman, who can change the course of mighty rivers,
bend steel in his bare hands, and who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper,
fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American way(but not that group of Commies with that same name).

Japan just printed its worst current account deficit on record and its worst GDP growth since Abenomics was unveiled – both missing by the proverbial garden mile and both confirming that all is not well in Asia. As for the perpetual hope of a J-curve (or miracle hockey-stick reversal)? There won’t be one!

But isn't an Ewok always naked by default? All the fur n' stuff. A were-wok wouldn't need to bother with clothes.

"For some reason, it all reminds me of that scene from Gladiator:
COMMODUS: My fatherÂ’s war against the barbarians, he said himself it achieved nothing. But people still loved him.
LUCILLA: People always love victories.
COMMODUS: But why? They donÂ’t see the battles. What do they care about Germania?
LUCILLA: They care about the greatness of Rome.
COMMODUS: Greatness of Rome? But what is that?
LUCILLA: Itâs an idea, greatness. Greatness is a vision.
COMMODUS: Exactly. A vision. I will give the people a vision and they will love me for it. They will soon forget the tedious sermonizing of a few dry old men. I will give them the greatest vision of their lives.
Obamacare has ceased being a thing for its defenders and has instead become an idea, a vision. To question the greatness of Obamacare is to miss the point of the greatness of Obamacare."

I am totes keeping what I have, TR. Also a double-action. But some kind of little automatic would be nice -- I shot a couple at the range last time and plinked the crap out of those metals. Could not do that with fluffy . . . much like her mom, despite her dainty appearance, she's a fuckin' beast.

I've got an LC9 with the integrated LaserMax as my conceal carry piece and I rather like it. I also bought a couple of extended 9 round mags for it as they were made available within the past few months or so. I consider it too large to be a "pocket gun", though I do have a holster for carrying it inside of a cargo shorts pocket. Great for summertime.

Cool, thanks for the tip, TR. A Glock. Hmmmmm . . . I will look into that. They seem reasonably priced, too. Part of what I love about the Rugers is that they are made in America. Beautifully made, actually. I do like that it's not a snub-nose, I don't really trust those, I want a little barrel to help with the aim.

An apex predator, top of the pyramid, changes the behavior of all the bottom feeders who are consuming so much more than they produce, that they are inhibiting growth?
are is this another instance when a favorite natural law is evil economic law such as evolution and social darwinism?
