Nuts.
— LauraW.

Hate to become the Wankette of AOSHQ, but funny/filthy links are where it's at for me for a while.

Frankly, a stretch of ignoring politics is good for a body. Just don't hardly care right now.

Dirty funny nasty filth tips go to: lauraw AT gmail DOT com.

Yeah. Might as well corner the market on deviance here for a bit.
Thanks.

Top Mosul AQ Leader Dies of Loneliness and JDAMs, But Mostly JDAMs
— Ace

Plus weapons seized, five more AQ killed and five more AQ captured.

Gee willickers, it's almost as if American troops are winning this war or something.

Thanks to CJ.

Drunk naked man caused 3 crashes on I95
— Purple Avenger

OK, we need a crisp light clear blog palate cleanser after all the PW non-drama, retractions, redactions, renditions, whateva...I figure a drunk naked dude running around on the freeway fits the bill nicely.

-- Delaware State Police have arrested a Chester, Penn., man who they said was running naked and drunk on Interstate 95 and caused three accidents...

...charged with two counts of assault and a single count of being drunk on the highway.

Two citizens tried to help Gilbert, but police said he began to assault them. Police said he then ran back into traffic and caused three accidents when cars tried to avoid hitting him...

I have an alibi - I haven't been anywhere near Delaware in over a year.

Sorry, I Took Down A Post...
— Ace

...which I realized three seconds after I posted it was in questionable taste. I treated a fight between people I know (or blog-know) as a pure bloodsport and realize, belatedly, that was wrong.

Wasn't a big deal anyway and was at most something for the sidebar.

Evolution Of A Media Spin-Job
— Ace

Tom Blumer traces how a CNN story about a "surprise" jump in home construction starts -- good news, right? -- becomes a scare story about a 16-year-low in single-family home starts only by day's end.

Unbelievable. In order to spin the bad news out of the good, they had to avoid the main number -- new home starts, the one always cited -- and break it down into apartment starts and single-family starts, and then focus on the lagging component (single-family houses).

What began early in the day as a routine story about a modest but surprising increase in the number of new homes being built became, in The Deciders' hands, a Woe Betide Us tale of a long-term low in one component of fresh housing starts. They just needed a few hours to have their coffee to figure out a way to spin modestly good news into awful news.

But they did it.

I, uh... don't suppose... that when single-family housing starts zoom up, but total housing starts remain flat or fall, they'll, uhh, highlight single-family housing then, huh?

Not unless a Democrat is in the White House. The MSM has decided collectively it's unconstitutional for there to be any good economic news when a Republican is President.

Again, thanks to CJ.

Actually... I question The Deciders actually did any homework to find this hidden downer stat at all. More likely, the busy bees at the DNC or Media Matters found it, emailed it back to CNN, and lo and behold it's CNN's headline immediately.

Bush Pardons Turkeys
— Gabriel Malor

President Bush pardoned two (!) Thanksgiving turkeys today.

"I'm pleased to announce the winning names. They are May and Flower," Bush said with a smile.

Fortunately for the birds, Vice President Cheney's nominees didn't make the list.

"They're certainly better than the names the vice president suggested, which was Lunch and Dinner," Bush said as the crowd chuckled and the turkeys gobbled.

They laughed, but they didn't know something moron BumperStickerist first told us on December 2, 2005:

For the past 32 years during his family's Christmas dinner Dick Cheney has carved and served the turkey pardoned by the President at Thanksgiving.

Ron Paul Named "Dark Horse of the Year"
— Gabriel Malor

I apologize in advance to the morons for the Paulbots who are about to show up here; this is still noteworthy. GQ has named Ron Paul the "Dark Horse of the Year." Here's their reasoning:

To witness [Republicans try to silence him] is to understand the fear Ron Paul has instilled in the GOP. He has tapped into his party's silent minority, one that won't abide torture, reckless spending, or endless war. And his supporters (and admittedly, there are some real conspiracy-minded moonbats among them) have rewarded Paul for his courageousness, to the tune of more than $5 million in campaign contributions in the third quarter—about the same as John McCain has raised. It isn't a revolution, but Ron Paul's candidacy serves as a reminder that electoral politics needn't be a joyless march to a clothespin vote. It can be daring and kind of kooky, too.

Other winners of GQ's "Men of the Year" are Bill Clinton and Kanye West. Charming.

Grim Milestone: NBC's Declaration That Iraq Is In State Of "Civil War" Now One Year Old
— Ace

So the obvious question: Since NBCNews made such a production over having to officially call the "civil war" by its proper terminology, do they feel similar responsibility to properly labeling Iraq not in a state of civil war now?

Remember, NBCNews' explanation was that they were compelled to term Iraq as being in a state of civil war in order to honestly report to their viewers:

For months the White House rejected claims that the situation in Iraq has deteriorated into civil war. For the most part news organizations like NBC hesitated to characterize it as such. After careful consideration, NBC News has decided the change in terminology is warranted and what is going on in Iraq can now be characterized as civil war.

Does honesty now dictate a similar but opposite statement? Or is their "honesty" a one-way ratchet permitting only dire declaration which can never be retracted?

Thanks to CJ. Good, sharp eyes on those Newsbusters newshounds over there.

I bet they've been counting down the days to this anniversary.

My Pron Didn't Lie To Me: Brit Girls The Bustiest In Europe
— Ace

57% D cups, with only Denmark coming close at the 50% mark.

Notably absent from the survey are the cup sizes from Eastern European countries and Russia, which I think, based on the anecdotal evidence I've seen, just might give the Brits a serious challenge.

Wait, was this a story about breasts? Per the MSM's rule:

evagreen.jpg

That's Eva Green, who was in Casino Royale, who is not in fact British, but French, but close enough.

You know, it's hard to find cheesecake on the internet when you want it. Nudity and outright porn, easy. But every time I go looking for a picture that's good cheesecake, I have to settle for something, because I only seem to get pics that are porn or right on the borderline.

Like, for example, this NSFW pic of Lorna Morgan, who old readers of this site will recognize as one of the chicks in the lesbian porn I accidentally linked one time when I meant to just link some dumb news story but was, uh, multitasking, I guess.

Pro-Romney Spin On Life Issues, From K-Lo
— Ace

Rorsharch test, I guess, but it seems somewhat convincing.

Then again, like Romney said of his nineties thinking on this, these aren't my "hot issues," either. So maybe I'm an easy sell.

I don't know if it matters if he's really convinced on these issues now as he claims or simply saying what he thinks he needs to say. As a practical matter he has now kissed off the New York Times and eastern liberal establishment swells and cast his lot with the traditionalists; it's doubtful he'd reverse himself again. He's a smart man. He knows that would aid him not at all. I don't think there's a Republican alive who doesn't remember what happened to George Bush the Elder when he violated his famous "Read my lips -- no new taxes" pledge.
