More on Cantor: Stop Using Threats for Political Gain, as It Encourages Violence; Democratic Spokesman Apparently Disagrees
— Ace

Drew had this below, but there's an update.

"Dangerously fanning the flames" of violence.

From his presser:

I do not condone violence. There are no leaders in this building, nor rank and file members in this building, that condone violence. Period. IÂ’ve received threats since I assumed elected office, not only because of my position, but also because IÂ’m Jewish. IÂ’ve never blamed anyone in this body for that. PeriodÂ…

Just recently I have been directly threatened. A bullet was shot through the window of my campaign office in Richmond this week. And I received threatening emails. But I will not release them, because I believe such actions will only encourage more to be sent.

Legigimate threats should be treated as security issues and they should be dealt with by the appropriate law enforcement officials. It is reckless to use these incidents as media vehicles for political gain.

That is why I have deep concerns that some — DCCC chairman Chris Van Hollen, and DNC chairman Tim Kaine in particular — are dangerously fanning the flames by suggesting that these incidents be used as a political weapon. Security threats against members of Congress is not a partisan issue and they should never be treated that way. To use such threats as political weapons is reprehensible.

A DNC spokesman has decided to fan the flames further and basically say that it's okay to shoot at Republicans because they're talkin' shit about the Democrats' quarterback-hero boyfriend:

Update: DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse hits back:

We disagree with the charge made by Rep. Cantor today that Democrats are using acts of violence for political gain. LetÂ’s be clear: calling on Republican leaders who have contributed in part to this anger by wildly mischaracterizing the substance and motives of health reform to condemn these acts is entirely appropriate.

Instead of distracting from the issue with more attacks, we would again ask Mr. Cantor and other Republicans, as we did yesterday, to join Chairman Kaine in working to ratchet down the rhetoric, condemn deplorable behavior and find ways to disagree on these issues without the charged rhetoric that weÂ’ve been hearing from Republican leaders.

He doesn't say a goddamn word about someone shooting into Cantor's office. Doesn't denounce it.

You be the judge. If political violence is to be denounced, but he himself won't denounce a gun being fired into a Republican's office, then what is the message here? Seems to be endorsing it as legitimate.

Below, Clyburn says that people "get their signals" on violence from their political leaders.

So by refusing to denounce someone firing a gun into Cantor's office-- what "signal" are leftists' political leaders sending out?

Remember This?

I don't remember a lot of media clucking over that.

Thanks for the reminder to StarChamberMaid.

Quote: From LauraW:

They are outrageously outraged that a Republican might try to snatch the precious mantle of Victim.

It's really important to them.

She wrote that in the context of the Koz Kidz claiming (of couse) that Cantor shot a bullet into his own office to gin up sympathy. You know, just like those wily Jews did on Kristallnact.

Conservative Author Uses Racist "Chris Rock Voice" to Threaten and Slur Steny Hoyer
— Ace

Actually it's Jason Mattera using his normal voice, and not threatening or slurring anyone. Mattera was reported by the NYT as using a "Chris Rock" black voice while giving a speech. Which was actually his normal, Brooklyn-accented speaking voice.

To the NYT, then, any regional accent apparently reads "black." Why does the NYT think that anyone who "talks funny" must be black?

Here he accosts Steny Hoyer with his "Dominican gang-banger holding up a gas station" voice.

Notice the way he says some of his words -- he sounds menacingly ethnic, like a Jamaican blademan violating the restraining order his common-law wife took out on him after a heated dispute over dividing the assets of their bling distributorship.

Jason Mattera wrote the just-released Obama Zombies: How the Liberal Machine Brainwashed My Generation, which I'm reading right now and will be reviewing shortly.

It's good. But I have one complaint: Much of the book is written in his "Ike Turner" literary style, however, and at least nine of the chapters obsess over how much time Tina is spending with Berry Gordy. And his manner of inspiring conservatives often consists of nothing but "Start getting your choreography right or I'ma gonna break your ankles with a tire iron." And then he breaks down, apparently in tears, begging forgiveness and promising "I'll never do that again, baby. I just love you so much my hands ball into little valentine-fists."

But, apart from that, and the unending credit-grabbing for the arrangement of "Proud Mary," it's recommended.

Right Wing Violence: Republican House Leader's Campaign Office SHOT At Update: Cantor Viceo And Republican Congresswoman Recives Voice Mail Threat
— DrewM

The narrative takes a hit.

Republican Rep. Eric Cantor's Richmond campaign office was shot at Wednesday night, Fox News has learned, the latest in a rash of apparent threats and acts of intimidation against members of Congress.

Most of the threats so far have been reported by Democrats, but Cantor -- the No. 2 Republican in the House -- is one of about 10 lawmakers who has asked for increased security protection, Fox News has learned. As a member of the House leadership, U.S. Capitol Police already provide Cantor with a security detail around the clock, but he has asked for more security.

As House Republican whip, Cantor is the highest elected Jewish politician in the country.

The story says it was last night but on air, FNC just said it was Monday night.

Just a reminder about the DNC's history of Jew baiting when it comes to Cantor.

So, will the media ignore this and stick with their "Tea Baggers" are dangerous line or just drop the whole thing, what with the inconvenient fact that the most dangerous thing to happen so far was aimed at a Republican?

I'm sure the Jurnolist is ablaze trying to figure out the party line at this very moment.

Update: Congresswoman Jean Schmidt of OH receives a lovely call. Doesn't sound like the caller is your average Sarah Palin voter.

Below the fold, video of Cantor's statement. more...

Obama Administration To Iran: Please Hurry Up And Build Your Nuke, We Can't Keep Pretending To Want To Stop You Forever!
— DrewM

Snub an ally (though, let's be honest, Obama doesn't view Israel as an ally) and continue to make life easier for Iran (he sure as hell doesn't view Iran as an enemy).

Ah, the joys and wages of "Smart Diplomacy".

The U.S. has backed away from pursuing a number of tough measures against Iran in order to win support from Russia and China for a new United Nations Security Council resolution on sanctions, according to people familiar with the matter.

Among provisions removed from the original draft resolution the U.S. sent to key allies last month were sanctions aimed at choking off TehranÂ’s access to international banking services and capital markets, and closing international airspace and waters to IranÂ’s national air cargo and shipping lines, according to the individuals.

The U.S. and allies are trying to force Iran to rein in a nuclear program that they worry is aimed at developing atomic weapons. Tehran says its nuclear activities are peaceful. The U.K. and Germany, concerned that Russia and China would reject the resolution outright and preferring to turn up pressure on Iran gradually, persuaded U.S. officials to drop or soften several elements, including some of the documentÂ’s harshest provisions, the individuals said.

..Russia and China didn’t endorse a draft resolution, but signaled that they were open to further discussions, people familiar with the matter said. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax news service, “We are continuing the process of comparing the approaches of the parties and considering further options.”

Ah, well the Russians are open to continuing to consider future options. Take that Iran!

This is just the most recent step in Obama's Kabuki dance designed to make it look like he's willing to do something about Iran. In fact, he is either absolutely indifferent to a nuclear Iran or kind of likes the idea...it'll help put Israel in its place. It's hard to say which for sure. But there's simply no other way to look at this administration's actions (or lack of actions) for the last year and conclude anything else.

Actually, it's not fair to say Obama and company have done nothing on this front. They've dialed down their rhetoric from 'crippling' sanctions to sanctions with 'bite'. Next we'll have sanctions 'that will sting a bit', followed of course by sanctions that 'tickle!'.

We've been so focused on Obama screwing us domestically, it's easy to forget what an awful job he is doing on foreign policy as well.

Manslaughter "Enthusiast" Rick Sanchez sez:

are our fundamentalist zealots different than the ones we fight in afghan and iraq?
Well Rick, you're the supposed "journalist" here, so I guess we'll have to trust your voluminous detailed reports about all those "American Fundamentalist" IED's, beheadings, infrastructure attacks, and murder of voters.

Just a Reminder
— Slublog

Barack Obama, October 15, 2008:

But there is no doubt that we've been living beyond our means and we're going to have to make some adjustments.

Now, what I've done throughout this campaign is to propose a net spending cut. I haven't made a promise about...

...What I want to emphasize, though, is that I have been a strong proponent of pay-as- you-go. Every dollar that I've proposed, I've proposed an additional cut so that it matches.

How's that promise working out for everyone?

One of the most important messages the GOP needs to communicate between now and November is that during the campaign, the president repeatedly lied to the American people. The question is, should we reward him for those lies by keeping his party in power, or should we hold him accountable for them by putting a check on his ability to continue crushing our economy?

And so it begins...the real estate double dip is starting
— Purple Avenger

Hoax and Chains, Whips, and Double Dips!

Last month, we reported in our Q4 Real Estate Market Reports that five of the 143 markets we covered were in the throes of a “double dip,” meaning home values showed sustained monthly increases sometime during the year, but have been falling again, for at least five months in a row, on a month-over-month basis.

Some additional markets were on the double-dip watch list. Home values, measured by the Zillow Home Value Index, were falling after earlier increases, but the falls hadnÂ’t yet gone on long enough to constitute a real trend.

One month later, and 12 markets have made it onto the official double-dip list. The Providence, R.I. and Boulder, Colo. metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) are among them.

The watch list has shrunk a bit, as many markets that were on it last month sunk firmly into double dip territory after January. Ten markets, including the Boston and Denver MSAs, seem poised for a double dip. HereÂ’s the full list

So, now we see why BofA is trying to forestall strategic defaults with their 30% off principal "deal". How this situation is going to change anytime soon now that ObamaCare's new taxes and increasing HC premium costs are going to be sucking thousand of dollars more per year out of the people who might have been in a position to buy a new place remains a mystery.
		1) Less disposable income
2) ???
3) New house!
Maybe we just need sheriff Joe to "fine tune" the specifics of Step 2.

Good evening and happy Hump Day all.

Amazing Foodscapes
These are mostly vegetables which I guess makes them the healthy alternative to the Meatscape. Both scapes are the work of Carl Warner who meticulously creates scenes using food. Probably most amazing is his food version of the London skyline.
