Keeping in mind what ACTUAL Early Vote in Ohio is...
— CAC

PPP now finding Obama down to a 1-point lead, 49/48, down from last week's chuckler (per twitter).

21% of the LV screen claim to have already voted, as just posted here the actual % of early vote-to-total is 11%.

That said, among those who claim they've already voted, PPP is finding Obama's edge down from almost 50 points last week to 32, and Romney's edge among those who haven't voted yet up to 52%-44%.

One last bit, which is big: In February, Romney's approval number was -24. Now: +2.

Obviously, Romney is doooomed.

Creator Of Dilbert Responds To Critics [Ben]
— Open Blogger

The creator of Dilbert, Scott Adams, endorsed Romney last week. You can read the endorsement here.

An excerpt:

So while I don't agree with Romney's positions on most topics, I'm endorsing him for president starting today. I think we need to set a minimum standard for presidential behavior, and jailing American citizens for political gain simply has to be a firing offense no matter how awesome you might be in other ways.

Please note the updates to that post. They are hilarious. He takes down just about everyone that links to the story for taking his endorsement completely out of context. He also gets some good jabs in at the Daily Kos, Gawker, Politico, and Mediaite.

Scott decided to write a follow up post to address some of the criticisms he was receiving. You can read that entire entry here. As with the first one, I highly recommend you read the entire thing. Don't depend on me for context. Although, I'd like to excerpt two gems from this post.

First, Scott's very practical when it comes to politicians and what they need to do to get elected.

Romney knows that the electorate is full of idiots and he needs to be a gigantic liar to win their votes. I totally get that. The funniest part is his budget plan that he promises to describe in detail after he gets elected. Dumb people see this as "He has an awesome fiscal plan!" Democrats see it as "He's a liar with no plan!" I see it as "You know I'm a brilliant and experienced turnaround guy. I know how to do this sort of thing. And if I give details now it just paints a target on my back. So chill."

Second, Scott addresses critics who claim he's only endorsing Romney to enrich himself.

So no, I don't see a scenario in which someday I am flying my diamond-encrusted helicopter over the rioting masses of starvation-crazed ex-middle-classers and thinking to myself that things worked out well for me. I don't see the option of living the good life at the expense of the 99%. That's not even a thing. I stopped working to satisfy my personal cravings years ago. Everything I produce and everything I earn these days is for the benefit of others. So I don't mind higher taxes on the rich if it makes sense for the country. With the exception of M.C. Hammer, the rich get richer no matter what the tax rates are. I'm afraid that won't change regardless of who gets elected.

Ace mentioned this phenomenon the other day. That centrist, libertarians, democrats and people who aren't right leaning political hacks are openly pointing out that Obama isn't doing a very good job. Each group has their own reasons, in Scott's case it has to do with the unpresidential* actions of Barack Obama arresting quasi-legal marijuana users for political gain.

I write quasi-legal because in some states marijuana use for medical reasons is legal. Obviously this contradicts federal law, but Scott rightly points out that Obama's sudden decision to enforce those laws is political given that the resources of the federal government are limited. Obama could easily let this slide and is choosing not to do so for some political reason. Scott points out that Obama hasn't given a reason, so it is fair to assume it is for political gain.

Be sure to read both his posts for yourself.

*Probably not a word.

Early Vote Ohio Update
— CAC

Currently, total early vote is 639,701 statewide. This includes absentees and in-person voting.
Out of 5.7 to 5.77 million likely total votes.

Which pegs the early vote at 11% of overall.

Which means SurveyUSA's release this week is just as skewed as Marist and PPP's last week.

So, another blow to the "18%"

2ND DEBATE BOUNCE BEGINS...
— CAC

For Romney, per Rasmussen reports (numbers will post shortly on his site)

National: Romney 49 Obama 48 (up +1 Romney from yesterday)

Swing State Tracker: Romney 50 Obama 46

(I am being dramatic on that one-point bounce, if you can't tell. Many expected the 2nd debate to start a "comeback" story for the President, but the polling results have continued to trend against him.)

Also Gravis has a new poll coming out this morning from Ohio pegging the race a 47%-47% tie, with a D+9 sample.

Expect PPP to pull it's usual later today, though with IA, NH, and even CO releases earlier this week, who knows?

Still waiting on Mason-Dixon to, you know, recognize there is a state south of Michigan, north of Kentucky/West Virginia, west of Pennsylvania and east of Indiana. Suffolk too, for that matter. Get on the ball, fellas.

Overnight Open Thread

So the Obama Administration is pressing the meme that Romney is politicizing our national security. That's rich in light of the their own actions. The President Doth Protest Too Much.

this is the same administration that sent its national security advisor to Afghanistan to tell the commanders not to ask for more Marines. It is the same administration that set a politically-driven timeline for withdrawing surge forces from Afghanistan. It is the same administration that complained to journalists that the military was trying to "box the president in" during the Afghanistan review -- a very serious charge against the professionalism of our military. It is the same administration that excoriated its predecessor for under-resourcing the war in Afghanistan while it declined to provide the military either the troops or the time they said would be needed to win the war. It is the same administration that claims this president is uniquely courageous to have approved the raid on Osama bin Laden. It is the same administration that leaked highly classified information to try and portray the president as a decisive commander in chief. It is the same administration that is using the Joint Chiefs of Staff as political pawns by insisting they want no more money or weapons -- and banking on their professionalism not to call their commander in chief a liar. It is the same administration that has threatened to veto any reduction in the sequestration defense cuts -- cuts that Secretary Panetta and all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have said will be devastating to our military power.

Obama Cites "Economist at the New York Times" For Evidence Romney's Jobs Plan Won't Work
— Ace

Gee, I wonder which "economist at the New York Times" is given over to saying things like "Romney's job plan is a snow job."

I'll give you three guesses and it's not Steve Tyler.

Video below.

Meanwhile, Mr. Unite America is running an ad in Ohio saying Romney isn't "one of us." Allah recalls the days when Obama claimed that such tawdry appeals were small-minded.

Friday Morning News Dump Evening Open Thread, and Exhortation to Join The Campaign!
— Open Blogger

Bumped by Ace. What @benk84 writes after the news dump is important.

Bleg: So the Romney campaign got in touch with me after I volunteered using the election day task force link in the sidebar. They sent me an online training course that took 10 minutes.

Essentially, they are asking for volunteers to work striker lists in heavily Republican areas. You can can volunteer to to work morning, afternoon/evening or all day. I will be working in the morning.

If you have a smart phone or IPad, they will be providing you with an election day app. It is essentially an electronic version of a striker list. You will sit in a polling place and mark voters off the list as they come in. That information will go directly to the Romney central command in your state. People will be working the phones and calling the Republican voters who have not showed up to the polls.

There are two other aspects to the app. One to report trouble, foul play, or voting problems. The other to give them anecdotal updates. For example, if a poll worker says this is the highest turnout they've seen in ten years, then you text that back to the Romney command center. All of this helps them focus their efforts where it is needed.

If you don't have a smart phone or IPad, they will give you paper strike lists and a phone number to call in your reports at designated times.

The Romney campaign really has their act together. This is the best I've ever seen from a Republican candidate. All they need now are volunteers. Have you volunteered? If you live in a dark blue state they might give you a job making phone calls.

This is it. You've been complaining about Obama for four years. You've been living with/through Obama's policies for four years. What are you going to do about it? Sit at home and comment on a right leaning website or go out and make a difference on election day?

That's what he says.

I don't really have a point here.

Tom Hanks Drops F-Bomb On Good Morning America, Promoting Upcoming Movie;
America Shocked, Horrified To Learn They Still Let Tom Hanks Have Upcoming Movies

— Ace

So, whatever.

I kind of hate Tom Hanks. Always have. Never thought he was funny. Never understood how he rated. Also, never understood how, between him and Peter Scolari, he was the Bosom Buddy who became a star.

It got even worse when he became Mr. Important Producer and Number One Obama Fan (it was his voice in Obama's convention video) and general liberal troll.

Here's me trying to annoy him:

@tomhanks Mr. Hanks, my *CHILDREN* were in the room when your unforgiviable obscenity "Larry Crowne" came on Cinemax.

@tomhanks It is inexcusable that you failed to put a Parental Warning on Larry Crowne stating "Warning: May Contain Larry Crowne"

@tomhanks Is that how your parents raised you? Is that what you want your children to see you as? As L@rry Cr0wn3?!

@tomhanks my lovely SexGimp & I were watching some German fecal pornography & were SHOCKED to see 20 RAW SECONDS of L@rry Cr0wn3 edited in

When you made L@rry Cr0wn3, did you intend it as an *insult* to God or just a flat denial of His existence?

my littlest still has nightmares. She asks "Daddy, @tomhanks was just pretending to have such strained chemistry with Julia Roberts, right?"

@tomhanks' career trajectory: 1 "Bosom Buddies" 2 Leading Man 3 Overrated Producer 4 "Bosom Buddies: Legacy"

As usual, my attempts to annoy celebrities end in failure.

It's almost as if they're not even monitoring their own Twitter accounts, if you can believe it.

Still. I tried.

Hey Tom:

"Earn this."
