Al Qaeda Leaders In Yemen Die From Being Run Over By A Reindeer And Air Strike But Mostly Air Strike
— DrewM

This Obama fellow has an interesting take on what it means to win the Nobel Peace Prize and quite frankly, I like it.

Sources tell ABC News that an air raid in Yemen this morning may have killed two top al Qaeda officials as well as an imam believed to have inspired the alleged Fort Hood shooter.

Those believed to have been present at the target in the eastern province Shabwa included the leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Nasser al-Wahayshi, his No. 2, Saeed al-Shehri, and Anwar al-Awlaki, who was quoted telling Al Jazeera Web that Maj. Nidal Hasan, asked him "about killing U.S. soldiers and officers. His question was is it legitimate" under Islamic law.

Awlaki said the query was a year before the Fort Hood shooting, making him "astonished. Where was American intelligence that claimed once that it can read any car plate number anywhere in the world?"

How does our ass taste now Awlaki? Oh wait, you don't have a mouth any more. Never mind.

FTR-Awlaki was born in the US, so clearly the left will be outraged by this blatant violation of his due process rights. Me? Not so much.

This is the second US strike in Yemen in a week or so. At the same time we are releasing Gitmo detainees to Yemen. I guess that's ok as long as we are blowing them up after we let them go.

For those of you keeping track at home: In this year's Feats of Strength, it's the US 1 - Terrorist Scum 0. I love Festivus!

*I updated the headline because it's not clear if it was a cruise missile used to off these guys.

Hey, lets just revisit the ObamaCare™ campaign promises eh?
— Purple Avenger

How many of these Obama promises have turned out to be lies?

Offers a public health insurance option to provide the uninsured and those who canÂ’t find affordable coverage with a real choice.
Right away we know that one is down the tubes in what the Senate is going to vote on. But wait...didn't Obama claim he didn't campaign on the public option? Yea, he did. Wait a minute...that link is his own campaign website claiming there will be a public option.

There's kinda two choices here: he lies, or he lies. Take your pick.

Peruse the promises yourself and comment on how the Reid/Pelosi "sausage" stacks up against the promises.

Open Blog Holiday!
— Ace

Yeah, that's right, that thing I do like Tom Sawyer where I pretend I'm doing you some big favor by allowing you to paint the fence for me.

But obviously, like duh, I've been taking most weekends off for like, forever, so I'm going to be on the site sporadically.

That's where you come in!

I'm also thinking about forbidding the cobloggers from posting anything, because I think they sort of feel guilty or "on duty" when I'm not posting, and I don't want them posting just because I'm taking off.

As usual, I'll post like dumb stuff.

Have a couple of reviews I want to write. Want to see Sherlock Holmes and review that.

Commies finally figure out cutting taxes stimulates growth. [krakatoa]
— Open Blog

I bet you wish I was talking about Obama and the Dem controlled Congress.

We should be so lucky. I'm referring to "out and proud" communists.

Hmm. Right.

The Chinese, folks. I'm talking about the Copenhagen saviors.

I'd quote the story, but it's really just a few lines, so fair use limits me to one word.

Shocker: Maureen Dowd Column Attempts to Distinguish Ass from Hole in the Ground; Gives Up in Hopeless Confoundation
— Ace

See if you can figure out the mystery that so befuddles the Vapid Vamp.

I'll bold the secret clue because you're more than likely drunk.

The MaverickÂ’s buck stops here.

John McCain is no longer the mediaÂ’s delight and his partyÂ’s burr, bucking convention with infectious relish.

The man used to be such a constructive independent that some of his Republican Senate colleagues called him a traitor. Now heÂ’s such a predictable obstructionist that heÂ’s in the just-say-no vanguard with the same conservatives who used to despise him.

On Tuesday afternoon on the floor, Senator Mitch McConnell, who contemptuously fought McCainÂ’s campaign finance reform bill all the way to the Supreme Court, oozed admiration toward his Arizona colleague, as McCain did yet another grandstanding fandango on the health care bill.

Watching him, one can only wonder: Is McCain betraying his best self? Who is the real McCain?

Even some of McCain’s former aides are disturbed by the 73-year-old’s hostile, vindictive, sarcastic persona — a far cry from The Honorable Man portrait so lovingly pumped up in books by his former aide and co-writer Mark Salter.

After he lost to W. in a nasty primary battle in 2000, McCain delighted in poking at the new Republican president. But he was a trenchant critic of W.Â’s budget-busting tax cuts and other policies because his objections were consistent and honestly felt. (Or so we thought.)

Now he delights in attacking another man he ran against and lost to: a new Democratic president who had once hoped, based on McCainÂ’s past positions, that his former Republican rival might be of help in such areas as the economy, national security, immigration and climate change.

With President Obama, McCainÂ’s objections seem motivated more by vendetta than principle.

Hmmm... he attacked Bush for his "budget-busting tax cuts" (and MoDo thought his objections were principled). Focus, as the italics direct you to, to the supposedly "budget-busting" nature of Bush's tax cuts.

And now he attacks Barack Obama.

What could possibly explain that except personal vendetta?

Ponder, ponder, ponder.

Think, think, think.

Cogitate, cogitate, cogitate.

I give up. I'm as lost as Pulitzer-Prize winning sub-imbecile Maureen Dowd.

You know, this may not be fair, but when John McCain says "The Democrats are bequeathing to our grandchildren a crushing debt that will make their lives forever poorer," I can't help but hear him saying, "The Democrats are bequeathing to our grandchildren a crushing debt that will make their lives forever poorer, you effeminate demi-schvartze."

I mean -- that is what she's saying, right?

She cannot account for this "vendetta" by any rational question of policy. We know she is fond of ascribing a racist motive to disagreements with The One.

So -- you tell me. If Maureen Dowd cannot even manage to discover the secret clue cleverly hidden from her in her own fucking column, I guess it's time to admit that John McCain, who did everything but cheerlead the First Black President into office, is as unreconstructed a racist as, say, Democratic Pro Tempore of the Senate Robert K. Byrd.

Thanks to AHFF Geoff for the article, but I got all clever on it on my own.

The Picture of Maureen Dowd: Kaspar Hauser --

Based on her photo in the NYTs, Dowd is kind of like a journalistic Dorian Gray. Her looks never change, but her columns just get older, more senile and increasingly decrepit.

Michael Douglas just emailed me to say she wasn't all that when she was on the spry side of seventy, either.

One of My Favorite Posts Ever... Was this early one, about Maureen Dowd's word processor attempting to stop her from being such a friggin' moron about everything, and absolutely failing.

Overnight Open Thread Pre-Christmas Eve Edition (Mætenloch)
— Open Blog

Happy Pre-Christmas Eve all.

Disclaimer: The Following Is NOT A Punishment
This is being is being shown purely for historical purposes. Trust me - you will know when you are being punished.

The Infamous Star Wars Christmas Special
Here is the full length version of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special that was shown on CBS on November 17, 1978. It has never been shown on TV again since then nor ever released on VHS or DVD. It was so horrible that George Lucas won't even acknowledge it to this day, though at one convention he is quoted as saying that, "If I had the time and a sledgehammer, I would track down every copy of that show and smash it."

You can read the full details about here. Suffice it to say that it combines the worst parts of Star Wars with the worst of 70's variety shows and is generally considered the worst two hours of television ever. And yes, there is a song and dance number with Bea Arthur and wookies.

Everyone should watch it once. But only a fool watches it twice. You have been warned.

World Watch: Livestock "greenhouse gas" contribution is now 51% !!11!!111!!!
— Purple Avenger

OMG, this is terrible. Last year it was only around 30% or so, now it over 50% of global warming that can be attributable to livestock!

(table summary line from page 2 of the PDF)
Total GHGs attributable to livestock products ...≥51.0
Game over man. GAME. FREAKING. OVER.

Also, the NYT goes off the tracks printing a piece about how vegetarians are roughly equivalent to mass murderers because like...plants have feelings and shit...or something like that.

Naturally, even a significant percentage of their moonbat readers have ripped them a new one for taking that radical a stance. Curiously, some of them sympathize with the plants. All I can recommend for those folks as a way to maintain their moral "high ground" is the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement. Those of us of weaker moral character will ummmm "celebrate" their passing.

The obvious answer to both these vexing problems was explored some decades ago in a little known film documentary. I think it was called Soylent Green or something like that...

Huh: John McCain Once Again Stabbing GOP in Back Helping Sway Another Democrat to Defect
— Ace

Well... as John McClane said: Welcome to the party, pal!

No, but seriously? As much of a dick as McCain was/is, he seems really pissed off by Barack Obama, and maybe pissed off at himself for basically agreeing to be Barack Obama's handmaiden, his dupe, his easy lay. He's been a lot more forceful for our side since then.

Republicans are stepping up their efforts to persuade more House Democrats to switch parties and are zeroing in on a second-term Pennsylvanian who is not ruling out such a move.

Democratic Rep. Chris Carney received a phone call Wednesday from Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) asking him to consider becoming a Republican, a top GOP official told POLITICO.

A spokesman for Carney declined to say if the congressman was considering such a switch.

“No further comment at this time,” said Carney spokesman Josh Drobnyk, who would only confirm that the call took place.

In a brief interview, McCain declined to offer details about the conversation.

“I just said, ‘Whatever you do, I know that you’ll make the right decision for the country,’” said the Arizonan.

Whoa: Chris Matthews' Ratings Fall Below Level of Largest Bloggers
— Ace

How the flighty have fallen.

At least in the 25-54 demographic... yesterday, his ratings were...

58,000.

Chris Matthews has been a mainstay of the MSNBC line-up for years, but December is shaping up to be one his worst months compared to the rest of the cable news landscape.

Matthews had his worst week in 2009 last week in the A25-54 demographic for his 5pmET live airing, averaging 88,000 viewers, according to Nielsen data. The previous week, he had his 2nd worst week, averaging 99,000.

I don't pull those kinds of numbers, myself. I get that in a full day, which is an apples-to-orange comparison, because really my numbers are 10-20,000 people coming back multiple times.

But a larger blogger? 58,000 is a lot of hits in an hour, no doubt. But... I think there are bloggers that can put those numbers up from time to time.

In somewhat related news, some Time reporter just told Chris Matthews the Democrats are digging up dirt on turncoat Griffith -- in order, he speculated, to scare hell out of other people thinking of doing the same thing.

I figured I'd help get the word out, because, God knows, practically no one saw him say this on Chris Matthews.

Question: Does this mean bloggers will stop going on Chris Matthews for exposure, and Chris Matthews will start underblogging for Andrew Sullivan to get ratings?

Get your shinebox, you stupid fuckin' little butterball pudgebunny.
