MEMO: For immediate release to all cob-logging divisions and open-blogging subsidiaries/franchises.RE: AceCorp LLC Corporate Directive Regarding Weiners.
Until further notice, all posts must include a minimum of 50% Weiner and Weiner-related content. We appreciate your efforts on this new and exciting direction in which the company is headed and know that you share in the overall vision as we look to expand our presence in both the domestic and overseas Weiner marketplaces.
In related news, the requirement for 15% “The Warriors” post content is suspended as we look to either outsource that division or discontinue the service altogether due to lack of profitability and the fact that no one can “Dig it”.

Well, I suppose we should start things of with...

— DrewM Game 1 was 1-0 with the Canucks pulling out with about 19 seconds left. Game 2 is coming up tonight at 8 EDT on NBC.
Boston did a good job keeping the Sedin twins in check. Ryan Kessler was again the difference in the game, making a great play to gain the zone to set up the game winner.
Both goaltenders were very good, with Roberto Luongo making one more save.
The key for the Bruins is to get more second chance shots on Luongo and get more traffic in front of him.
The most important key for the Bruins is their power play. It's been awful throughout the playoffs. Unless they get it gear, they are in big trouble. Justin Bourne has some free advice on how to make it work...stop being so fancy and move Chara back to the point.
For the Canucks they need to do more of the same, just better. They skated well and got more quality chances (Tim Thomas robbed them on a number of occasions). Some of the problems for the Canucks maybe attributable to the long layoff they had. Well, they got the rust off and still one the game.
The Canucks came out flying in Game 1, which was to be expected given the energy in the city and the building. The Bruins withstood the onslaught and had a chance to steal a road game. It only gets tougher for them tonight.
Something I should have mentioned originally....Game 1 got chippy and nasty pretty quickly. You don't always get that with two teams that don't play much but over a long series it builds. Since it started that way, it should be fun tonight.
And finally, great moments in Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup history. more...

— Ace The below got posted in the Open Blog thread.
Initially, I only read the beginning, which seemed possibly real. Then I read the rest, and it's clearly partisan made-up stuff.
I have googled phrases in this "article." The only hits returned are this site, in the comments, and forum, in which the article is reprinted and linked... back to this site.
I am making a note of this to make sure that anyone who read this knows it's fake.
And also to express annoyance. Some people seem to believe that all that is necessary to change perceptions, and thereby change reality, is to push spin, nonsense, and outright fabrications. Then we'll all believe it, and then we'll act accordingly, and the world changes due to a lie.
I'm just tired of this amateurish, and very arrogant, sort of conceit. The idea that someone is so smart their made-up crap will change the world.
It won't. And here's the proof. I'm calling this out as total bullshit. Now that I read past the first paragraph (and I only skimmed initially on a phone), I can see how dumb and amateur this attempt at fictional "news" is.
You have to be pretty smart to change things with the truth. You probably have to be even smarter to change things with a lie.
The below lie is not even halfway smart. It's dumb. Thanks for wasting people's time with an idiotic fiction.
It's laughable. What news organization writes like this? What political organization is this crass?
None of them.
What did you hope to accomplish with this? Are you planning to break any further "Morning Bulletins" here?
Because, what, you're so smart you can fool everyone?
No, you're not. Dunning-Kruger isn't just a river in Africa.

— Ace I don't know you, you tell me. She's apparently high on something, and I don't think it's life.
Maybe "medicinal life." Maybe she has a buyer's card.
That's something, I guess. More interesting to me is her makeup. I believe this is from Nikki Hilton's "Clown Whore" line, for when a t-shirt reading "Open For Business" is a little too subtle.
Anyway, this is sort of like taking down Anthony Weiner.
What do we win? Obnoxious Partisan Idiot #18 is just replaced by Obnoxious Partisan Idiot #19, moving smoothly up the ranks like the goateed officers in the evil mirror Star Trek universe.

— DrewM Paul Ryan is having quite a year for speeches. First, the Republican reply to the State of The Union, then a major budget address at the Economic Club of Chicago and now a foreign policy speech at The Alexander Hamilton Society in DC.
I know he's not running-running but he's definitely running.
The whole thing is worth a read but below are a few highlights. Since they run long, let me toss my impressions up front.
It's obvious Ryan is a very smart and serious guy who has thought a lot about these issues. This isn't a deeply wonkish foreign policy address but it's a window into his mind and his values. It's safe to say, he's not an isolationist but at the same time he grasps the opportunities of, and the limits on, American power. I like the balance he strikes here.
Most importantly, Ryan is clear eyed about the challenges we face but he's clearly bullish about America and the future. He doesn't see a shrinking America where we are another name on the UN roster, at the same time he understands that for the "world community" to work, it must and will be led. The question and challenge of our time is, Who will lead...us or China?
Ryan also has a powerful force on his side...optimism. Even with all the challenges we face, and he lays them out, he has a strong belief in America. He is not a guy who sees America as something that needs to be remade or looks back longingly at some idealized time that may or may never have ever existed. He looks at the challenges and sees better days ahead...if we make the right choices now. That plays well even in, or perhaps especially in, times of trouble. That he's young, vigorous and attractive really sells the package.
I haven't seen the video of this yet but I've seen Ryan give speeches and talks before. He's good on camera so I can't imagine it was any different last night.
As Jonah Goldberg quipped on Twitter today, "I hope @PaulRyan is feeling a draft"
From the speech: more...

— Dave in Texas Today is the 69th anniversary of the beginning of one of the most important battles in the Pacific in WWII. It was just six months after the catastrophic Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. But during those six months Japan pushed ahead and consolidated their advantages, inflicting stinging defeats in the Philippines, Singapore and the Dutch East Indies.

— Open Blogger This November, a ballot initiative in the city of San Francisco will allow citizens a chance to vote on banning circumcision. Circumcision, the process of cutting off the foreskin eight days after birth, is a Jewish tradition. In the Torah, G-d told Abraham that circumcision was part of the Covenant, or manÂ’s promise to G-d.
It should also be noted that countless medical studies show that circumcision has many health benefits, not the least of which is a decreased likelihood of contracting HIV. I'm sure HIV isn't really an issue in San Francisco though.
However, the leftists in San Francisco(read: All of San Francisco) have decided that circumcision is inhumane and therefore should be illegal. They have argued that it, like abortion, is an issue of choice. The babies do not have a say in the matter, therefore the parent's should not be allowed to decide for them.
Many in the Jewish community have seen this anti-circumcision movement as a stealth anti-Jewish measure. Parents donÂ’t have to get their child circumcised, therefore why outlaw it? Why outlaw a procedure that is mandatory for all Jewish men, even older converts. If itÂ’s really about choice, why not let the parents choose? Choice implies having options.
The Jewish community never had any clear proof that this movement harbors anti-Judaic movitves, only the suspicion of it. That is until now. more...

— Ace As mentioned, taking a little break. Actually, though, I'm going to be working on two blog-related things. Both funny.
Later today I have to post my own take on this PatriotUSA76 deal, but for now, the full interview with FilmLadd is here.
The outstanding John at Verum Serum has said 90% of what I was going to. His previous day's post, concluding, as I did, that PatriotUSA is probably just what he says he is and therefore not really relevant to the story is here.
Next leftist meme: Because PatriotUSA gives me some shout-outs as "brilliant" and "the only one who nailed it," I now expect....
(drum roll)
PatriotUSA76 is Ace of Spades.
Have you ever seen them in the same room together? No? KosProof!
After all, who but the hacker would "send Ladd questions" to ask, but for the very person being interviewed...? Isn't it strange that this "Ace" fellow just happens to offer questions for the man he says isn't part of the story?
Hmmmmm....
For the record: Um, no. I've been doing this for seven years and check my blog, I've mentioned Anthony Weiner like, guessing?, three times at most before the dic-pic.
Oh, right, but that's the perfect cover or something.
There's just nothing to this whole angle. Maybe not even that much.

Top Al Qaeda Leader Killed By Twitter Hack3rz and High Explosives But Mostly High Explosives
I will give Obama a rare shout-out: China claimed that it would treat an attack on Pakistan as an attack on China. What "attack" means wasn't clearly defined; did they mean the state apparatus? Perhaps this was clarified through normal diplomatic channels.
In which case, if China expressly stated "we just mean attacks on the actual nation of Pakistan," not much of a kudo to Obama, but still not bad. He is doing a good job of killing Al Qaeda.
The US has killed Ilyas Kashmiri, one of al Qaeda's most dangerous military commanders and strategists, in a Predator airstrike yesterday in South Waziristan.Kashmiri is said to be one of nine members of the al Qaeda-linked Harkat-ul Jihad Islami, or HUJI, who were killed in yesterday's Predator airstrike that leveled a compound in the Wana area of South Waziristan. A Harkat-ul Jihad Islami spokesman told Dawn that Kashmiri was killed in the attack.
...
"HUJI's statement is a sure sign we got him, we are pretty confident he is dead but we cannot confirm 100 percent," one official told The Long War Journal.
The attack took place in an area of South Waziristan controlled by Mullah Nazir, a Taliban commander who has proudly admitted he is also an al Qaeda leader. The Pakistani military refuses to move against Nazir as he is considered a "good Taliban" leader because he does not attack the state. Nazir does shelter al Qaeda and other terror groups, and carries out attacks in Afghanistan.
The only good Taliban is a #Hacked! Taliban.
Thanks to Marilyn.
More: Hot Air already has this well-covered, and it turns out this seems a Big F'n' Deal, as Joe Biden might say, perhaps about Amtrak adding a new Scranton-to-Albany line.
Lots of important details plucked out there, but this quote gives a flavor:
“We will never recover from his loss,” a young Afghan who fought with al Qaeda in the tribal area in 2009 and who had seen Kashmiri there tells The Daily Beast. “He was the bridge between al Qaeda and the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban…But his spirit will rest calmly because he did his job, and his revenge will be bigger than bin Laden’s revenge.”

— andy Wait. That headline didn't come out right. But you know what I meant.
If you have the time, the Ladd Ehlinger Jr. interview with @PatriotUSA76 linked in the sidebar is an interesting (at points, but mainly long and tedious) read. I think the Head Moron is probably going to comment on it later if you want to wait for the Cliff's Notes version.
Also, Jonah Goldberg has a good rundown of Weinergate here. more...
